The bed was ok. THAT is all. The condition around the property is horrible. See my pics. There is ZERO pride in ownership here. Cigarettes lined the stairs, and many were in the parking lot. Two opening windows, with one with a torn-up screen, and the other would not stay open unless you propped something under it. (see pics) The shower would not drain properly and almost spilled over. (see pic) A chair that was damaged should be in the trash. (see pic). The pathway you go through looks like walking through a dumpster area. (see pic). THIS PROPERTY is as ghetto as it gets. DONT BOOK THIS MOTEL. Saturday, May 30 my brother booked and pre-paid for a room. He requested a late arrival time because he was traveling from one job in the valley that ended late to another one that started early the next morning in Newport. They assured him that was okay. When he arrived he was told there were no rooms available. The night manager lied saying he tried to call him and then sold the room to someone else, But he had his phone on him and no calls came. It was already paid for, but they did not even give his money back. TOTAL SCAM. They took a double payment and stranded him in the middle of the night. THE RODEWAY INN is a criminal business that should be shut down. Not worthy of a one star, or even a minus star. Stay away from this business. read more

(Note: I only left stars because it not possible to leave 'zero' stars for rooms even though we didn't stay, and the location has no bearing on the actual service we received.) We had a reservation at the Rodeway Inn at Newport Oregon for 1pm. After waiting in the lobby for about ten minutes, the manager showed up. An older gentleman inquired about a room for himself and his service dog, but this was promptly denied, and this perhaps set the tone for our own booking experience. After letting the manager know we had a 1pm reservation, he promptly rejected that notion and told us that check-in was at 4pm. I showed the reservation and confirmation. The manager refused to honor it. He did not care what our booking said and intimated that he was not responsible and that I had to take it up with Kayak/Super. We told him that perhaps he should not be booking rooms through a third party if he was going to refuse the terms of agreement. Having driven three hours, I was in no mood for this kind of news. Naturally we were upset. It was almost 2pm and we had been waiting in the lobby. I told him we were not waiting until 4pm and that he needed to get us a room immediately. There were no other visitors at the time and the parking lot was empty save for a white Cadillac Escalade and a large boat. He told us to leave. Some choice words were spoken. It was my wife's birthday and I was not about to completely ruin it by throttling this little man with my bare hands. We left and booked at the OYO down the street (which hasn't failed us yet on our second stay in Newport so if you're reading this, skip Rodeway and book there instead). I did not opt for a refundable room fee. My fifty dollars were essentially stolen by this unpleasant little man. I console myself in this fact however: If you're now the one person reading this and decides not to book with the Rodeway Inn, based on the experience I've described, I will feel vindicated. I'll never get those fifty dollars back. But hopefully he won't take yours either. read more

My family and I stayed here the weekend of 12/26/25- 12/28/25. This place has clean rooms all day continental breakfast, and lots of parking. We went crabbing in the bay all weekend and the hotel allows us to cook the crab in the parking lot away from the building and cars parked. The manager Lee is very nice. The Chinese restaurant next door Lee's Wok has great food. I recommend eating there if staying at the hotel. I will return again in the future and recommend this place to family and friends visiting Newport. read more

My family and I stayed here over the Thanksgiving weekend. 11/27/25-11/30/25. This place was great. The price was decent and affordable for the area. The rooms was very clean, the beds in the 2 queen room was comfortable. The room came with a fridge, microwave, and kerig coffee pot. They offered a continental breakfast that comes with begals, muffins, pastries, juices, coffee and tea. Could have been better. Would have been nice to have cereal, yogurt, fruit, or even a waffles maker like most other chain hotels offer. There was plenty of parking on site for boats or trailers. As long as your away from the buildings and vehicles In the parking lot, they even aloud us to cook crab we cought in the bay. This place is perfect for the crabbers that come to Newport. Just make sure you don't cook crab in the rooms. They might charge a cleaning fee if you smell up the rooms. The only thing I didn't like with this place was when you call to tell them your arriving early, late, to cancel, or any other general questions, they will likely not answer the phone. I have called multiple times and no answer. Over all I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends traveling in Newport and will definitely be returning again in the future. read more

Perfectly fine accommodations A solid three star motel. $100 bucks which is 1/3 what everyone else in Newport is charging. Clean, spacious, well appointed room. Big fridge with a freezer section. Microwave. Million channel, big screen TV. Plenty of parking. Ironing board, iron, hair drier. I am a Choice member so they had me in the building way in the back. It was very quiet. There is a Chinese restaurant next door that I gather is owned by the same people. Sketchy reviews so I didn't try it. I was in town for seafood anyway. The Asian guy at the desk wasn't all that hospitable but that's fairly common at chains like this. I have been a very long term Best Western diamond select customer but in recent years their prices have gone way up while the service quality has gone way down. So a really good room at a decent price trumps a not-so-engaging desk clerk. It's right on the main drag just north of SR 20. Getting in or out can be a challenge depending on which way you are headed so familiarize yourself with the back streets to make your life easier. Ice machine works great and is in the 24 hour laundry but you need your room key to access it. read more

A reasonably priced place to stay while in Newport. It's located right on Hwy 101 and next to a Chinese restaurant I think. I think the property is a couple of buildings. I was put into the back one. Definitely an older property but definitely serviceable. Bed was comfortable, pillows typical sucky hotel type with no support. My room had a mini fridge in it. Check in was smooth. Was told breakfast from 7:30 to all day and to take what I wanted. (a few bagles and muffins, so don't expect much). No a/c in the unit, but a couple of fans. With the all day sun, the room gets a bit warm and it's not like you can leave the window open. The shower did leave something to be desired with water pressure. Check out super easy, just leave the keys in the room and close the door. I had no problem with neighboring rooms and noise. One car beeping late sucked and whoever was using a leafblower nearby at 4 AM needs to have their head examined. Considering the price for the coast, it was ok. If you want something nicer, well, you're going to pay more. read more

Rodeway may be a bargain inn but I can't recommend this particular location enough. It was almost exactly midnight when we pulled in but someone answered the buzzer right away, came straight to the office, and was perfectly professional checking us in. The room itself was clean, warm, and very comfortable. The food available for the complimentary continental breakfast was all pre-packaged bakery items with choices of coffee, tea, and on-tap fruit juices. I honestly wish we weren't just passing through, checking in at midnight and gone before eight AM. I've paid far more money for far worse places to stay both at the coast and inland. I've stayed here over the years and it's gone downhill gradually. This week we tried again and it was downright disgusting. Checkin online is 1. When we got there they told me new check in is 3 or 4. Floors absolutely filthy. The owner parks his 40 foot boat and subyrban where the patrons are supposed to park and makes you park far away from your room. Bedspread has grease stains. This place has tuned into a dump the owner puts no renovations or money into it to clean and update. read more

Alright, so I do construction and was looking for a place to stay in Newport while working out of town, since there isn't really much in Waldport where I'm working, I started searching around. So I stayed at comfort inn the first week, which was alright, but it was expensive and I'm not really sure why. This week, I decided this place and I think I'm just going to stay here from now on. The manager, Lee, is a super nice guy and incredibly helpful. He's so down to earth and personable! We reserved 3 nights here, but we may need to head out early, so we would only use 2 nights, but we already paid for 3. We didn't know what we could do, so we asked Lee; he said there would be no problem and if we just called him by noon the next day, he'd either hold it for us if we needed it again, or credit it towards next week when we come back!!! The rooms are large and very clean, tons of pillows, cable TV... They're is nothing bad I could say about this place. Try some of the Chinese at the restaurant next door too, it was surprisingly good and very friendly staff! All operated by Lee's family. read more

Booked a room at this hotel based on decent reviews & photos on Yelp. I'm not sure where all the people giving it 4 stars are used to staying, but, this place is barely worth 1 star. The room was cramped, felt claustrophobic from the low ceilings (bottom floor), pretty much everything in it was outdated, the bed was hard as a rock, you can hear your neighbors through the wall, even with the TV on, heater & bathroom fan running. Could even hear traffic & sirens on the main road even though our room was on the back side of the building. The in-room hair dryer did not work. The complimentary mini toiletries were obviously reused (sticky & partially full) There were no available outlets for charging any electronics. The mini-fridge & cabinet were leaning like the tower of Pisa. The desk chair was shabby & worn. No in-room coffee makers, so, if you are an early riser, you are screwed & on your own since the office "continental breakfast" is not open until 7:30am. Homeless people hanging out on the corner next door at Starbucks first thing every morning, they set up camp to hit up all the drive thru patrons. Just overall a little sketchy for our taste. Thankfully, we were busy exploring during our stay & spent minimal time in the room. Would not stay here again & would not recommend it to anyone else either. The one star is generous & that's only because the shower/water pressure was decent & I can't give it zero stars. read more

If half a star was an option, that is what I would rate this experience. They get half a star for existing in the location they said they would. Beyond that I'm not sure what I can say positive about our experience. To start, we made a reservation at least a month in advance. Prior to arrival, I tried to give them a call, twice, without answer, to confirm the reservation. Upon arrival, a dark haired, mask-less, man came to the counter. As we attempted to check in, we were informed that we had two rooms reserved, and that they had both been cancelled. Why were they cancelled? Because the card on file had been declined. No call to verify the card or to confirm the booking. Just cancelled. Said card was declined because it had to be replaced. When we tried to figure out the situation, the man told us that they had booked all of their rooms. As we are trying to get our bearings and figure out where we will go from here, the man continues to tell us that they have no rooms available, trying to just get us out the lobby. This guy clearly doesn't care that we have nowhere to go now, he just wants to get back into his back office to whatever the hell he was doing before we so rudely interrupted him. During our online search for another place to stay, it showed the roadway inn having a room available, but at this point, I'd rather stay the night in my car. Frankly, a park bench would be more hospitable than this place. Which we came close to doing, as it was 9pm on Labor Day weekend, leaving the only feasible option being a $300+ reservation down the road. I hope they take better care of their rooms and linens than they do their customers. read more

Pleasantly surprised with what I got for $76 for a Saturday night in early October. Last minute trip where I couldn't find anything under $150 except here. Was expecting much worse for the price. Front desk clerk was very nice and accomodating. I asked if I could fill my water bottle from the breakfast buffet area and, instead, he went in back and brought out three bottles of water for me. Also, make sure to ask for a room in the back part of the property. They have a lot of units spread across several buildings. The ones in back are further from the highway and, hence, much quieter (unless, like me, you get the room next to Superman with the loud, moaning girlfriend!) Bed was comfortable. Sheets were soft and clean. Overall, good value. I probably won't stay there again, but was better than I expected. read more

Small hotel in small city. The outside looks sketchy, but the inside was nice and clean. Our room has lots of drawers and cabinets and extra towels. There is not much for breakfast: muffins, bagel, danish, juice and coffee. It has okay customer service. We had a one night quickie trip to the coast and, being the frugal traveler, I looked for the most bang for my buck. I found the Roadway for $82 per night including tax. With good reviews, a great price, I booked it! The room was typical for a motel but they did include a nice flat screen TV, Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge and microwave. Granite counter tops too! There were some signs of age in the walls and tub but it was clean and overall satisfactory. The bed was too hard for our taste but that's probably personal preference. Nice service checking in, complimentary mini breakfast, and a decent nights sleep. Worthwhile value. read more

First come into our room to unmake the bed and find yellow stains all over. We ask to have sheet changed. Sheets are changed and are even WORSE! So we tell them they are disgusting! We leave the room to come back late to find that no one ever came to the room!! Go down and talk to the front desk again and the older gentleman was super nice and I could tell he was frustrated. You know you're not staying at the Marriott when you book the Roadway, but it wasn't terrible. Bed was pretty bad and the room smelled like 15 potpourri jars were hidden throughout. Also, the breakfast is just prepackaged muffins or bagels. All in all, hard to beat the price for a quick nights rest on a road trip. read more

Location was very good, a quick walk down to the Nye Beach Breakfast pastries were lacking in variety (only chocolate muffin or raisin "snail"). Beds are stiff. No AC in room, but there is a small fan to blow in air from the window.... which was not a great idea since people stand inches away outside smoking cigarettes, thus blowing in smoke into the non-smoking room. Booked this hotel through hotels.com. I was so excited to find such a cheap hotel last minute for the 4th of July weekend that I didn't even realize that I had booked a smoking room until we checked in (we are not smokers). Oh well. The owner was really friendly and even brought us a deodorizing machine to use for the duration of our stay (it helped immensely). In general, the room was decent...although I did not feel as though I could walk on the carpet without shoes on (the owner already had commented on how he is in the process of converting all rooms to non-smoking and will be putting new carpet in). Plenty of space, wi-fi, flat screen tv, mini-fridge, and even a Keurig WITH Green Mountain Coffee Roasters k-cups. It's also in a good location, walking distance from a lot of things to do/see (Nye Beach, Historic Bay District, etc.). read more

Room was VERY CLEAN -- maybe the newest, freshest I have ever stayed in! It was nicely stocked with a microwave, fridge, flat screen w/cable, many lines of wi-fi, and a fancy coffee maker. Small room was very efficiently laid out, plenty of space to sit, and room for our baby to play. They have a washer/dryer ($1.25 each), continental breakfast (not great selection, but did save us some money) and the softest pillows ever. We stayed two nights, and we were put in a room far away from other guests (which was perfect because we had a crying baby up in the middle of the night). GREAT location. Within walking distance of the Farmer's Market, Bay Blvd, Nye Beach. Minutes from both the Aquarium, and Yaquina Lighthouse. Chinese food next door can be delivered to your room, and there is a coffee/grocery across the street. MAKE NOTE: We got a discount for calling and making our reservation over the phone! The phone line was not very easy to get through to, but the discount made the effort worth while!! Was very disappointed when checking in, there was a group ahead of us and the man helping them seemed very friendly and helpful, but when my partner and I went up to get checked in his whole attitude changed and he became very cold and not friendly at all. Then when we got to our room, it's was outdated, there were no fire alarms, only one light in the entire room had a bulb in it, and it was a full size bed when i reserved a queen. All the other room were updated and looked very nice when walking passed them. I can't help but to think we got placed into that room because we are two gay men. It was very disheartening and we will never bring our business back to them or their restaurant. read more

My husband stayed here on Feb. 3. He arrived about an hour after the time he was told he could check in. Room was not ready so he ran an errand and came back and was checked in. He checked out this morning and headed home. The owner called a little later to inform my husband that he is charging our card $44 for stolen towels. My husband did not steal his towels! So he returned to the Rodeway Inn and the owner informed him that the maid is "100% perfect", therefore if she says he stole towels she is correct. So it is their word against his. Actually this is theft! This owner is trying to steal $44.00 from us. My husband has filed a complaint with Rodeway and our credit card company. Stay here at your own risk. read more

Rooms were well maintained. It was a quiet place and I slept really well. Room had an extra electric heater to plug in and I thought that was pretty cool. Owner was a really nice guy. He keeps pastries and snacks out all day. Pretty decent location right on 101 in Newport. read more
