    Website showing amenities.
    Kathy S.

This is the lowest score that I've ever given to a hotel and still stayed the night there. I can't remember the last time that I stayed at a hotel that did not have a blow dryer in the bathroom or a microwave in the room. They did not advertise these as amenities however we all know that those are standard items in hotel rooms. They do however have on their website that they have a hotel restaurant that offers breakfast lunch and dinner and a pool, as well as other amenities. I took pictures of the website and you can see the date in the upper left-hand corner so you know that it's today, and there are pictures of the restaurant and the swimming pool on the website. I am including pictures that show that neither are here. I walked around the hotel and couldn't find the pool (was told, when I asked that it was "down") and the restaurant is closed. The public bathrooms are padlocked shut, allegedly because people were coming in off the street and using them. The toilet looked filthy and the lights have a layer of dust on the top of them. The ironing board is broken, literally in two. I checked the bed for bedbugs and cleanliness and it seems to be OK. Having driven all day I decided to go ahead and stay the night. Had large tv and desk staff was nice.

    Dirty room without working locks

They gave me a dirty room with no lock on the door. I had to leave to go to the Days Inn across the street so me and my things would be safe. Took me weeks to get a refund!

    Trashed.

less than one star. checked in after a long day of driving to find a fully clogged sink. 2 hours of DIY maintenance later (in which we didn't feel comfortable leaving our things in the room, so we had to awkwardly wait), the bathroom was flooded and they "graciously" gave us another room- terrible smell, wouldn't even feel comfortable laying in the bed. My girlfriend and I on multiple occasions approached the desk to ask for some solution. "There's nothing we can do," and when we told them we would not be staying, they refused to refund us, citing they "now had to clean two rooms." Noone has ever cleaned those rooms. Rude, dumb, worthless, don't. One star for the entertaining meth users walking around the property.

This hotel is going through a renovation and uses that as its excuse for everything. We arrived to check in and were dismissed by reception because we are arrived an hour or so early. Then we get to our room and the real issues start. We have no lamp shades on our lamps so you are blinded if you turn lights on or you get to sit in the dark as there is no other lighting. Then we turn on the tv and only 3-6 channels work. The phone doesn't work and is missing buttons. We asked at the front desk and they just said it was part of the remodel and not a problem. They told us they may be able to send the maintenance guy up but he was currently he bartender so he probably wouldn't make it. They were rude and disrespectful. If a remodel is going to occur don't open rooms until they are complete.

It's disgusting that they don't strip the bed after each person stays and replace with clean linens.

They don't change all of the bed linens after each guest. I walked into the room and found several small, dry pieces of suspicious "goop" on top of the blanket. Disgusting.

    This is the sauna...so gross!!

Things were shut down to covid, but the staff was very helpful and friendly. Shouts out to Alicia at the front desk and Will in maintenance!

What a shit hole, didn't think I'd find another hotel that was close to being as bad as the "Quality Inn" in Topeka, KS.

The accommodations and restaurants make staying in Alamosa attractive when we're doing anything related to the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The only negatives were a non-working elevator and not-kept-filled bacon bin at the buffet breakfast. No doubt the elevator situation was temporary and we just had bad timing. Odds are high we'll be back many more times, especially since you can get really good pricing when IHG is having one of their frequent flash sales.

We stayed at the beginning of June and a day before we got there my husband received an email saying the elevator was broken. Ok, we get there and it says the elevator is broken from May through September? In the email we were offered help to bring our bags upstairs, and that definitely didn't happen when we arrived. The ladies at the front desk were nice, but zero offer was made of any kind to help with bags. We were on the second floor staying 4 nights with a family of 4, so we had multiple bags. Not only that, the first day we had a house keeping refresh and I thought that was great! Some new towels and our beds were made. It was a great surprise since we were at the Great Sand Dunes National Park multiple days. I know its standard for Holiday Inn to do a room refresh every other day, so the following day we hoped for at least a few new towels (especially since my older son had a nose bleed at night) but nope. Then came the third day, we were gone most of the day the third day as well and housekeeping never came. It was disappointing. I don't need a full room clean, but a few new towels in the bathroom and the beds made would have been nice? I did go and ask for another set of towels from the front desk, which they did provide, but it really should have been brought to the room. My husband on the 2nd night asked for an extra blanket or two (when we had to walk down the stairs again to the front desk) and the woman remarked that housekeeping would be looking for the blankets when they came in, ha! They never came! Guess they wouldn't be looking for the blankets- at least while we were in the room. Finally, the last straw was when we went to check out my husband asked for the bill. They tried to charge an extra $10 a day for facilities fee?!? For what? They said for breakfast- no that is a Holiday Inn perk that is included you shouldn't be charging an extra fee. If you have something extra or fancy at your hotel I can see the charge, but we are supposed to pay $10 extra a day for a broken down elevator?! No way. The staff here are nice, but I think management needs to catch a clue that some of these policies and ideas will not work. Also on our way out housekeeping had all the clean towels on the floor as she was changing them- BECAUSE THE ELEVATOR IS BROKEN. Help your workers out and fix the things that really need to be fixed. Skip the hassle and stay at a different hotel in the same area if I were you.

Extremely disappointing stay at Best Western Alamosa Inn…read more We checked in after 8:00 PM after visiting Great Sand Dunes and found several problems with the room. The bathroom sink was completely unusable because the stopper was stuck closed, and the stopper lever could be removed from the faucet. The body wash and conditioner dispensers were empty, and the hair dryer did not work and appeared to contain broken glass. I have photos and videos documenting these issues. We reported everything to the front desk around 9:00 PM and were told someone would come. After waiting more than 30 minutes without help or an update, we called again. The employee responded, "What else do you want me to do? If you come to the desk, I can check you out and you can leave." No one repaired the sink that night. The next morning, manager Krishna said maintenance would repair the sink and that the first night would be refunded because it had been unusable. I was in the bathroom while the maintenance employee worked on the sink and clearly heard drilling for approximately 30 seconds. At checkout, however, Krishna withdrew the promised refund and claimed there had never been a real problem with the sink, saying we simply did not know how to operate the stopper and that no meaningful repair was needed. This directly contradicted the drilling and maintenance work I personally heard taking place. Best Western later claimed we were offered another room and declined it. That is also not what occurred--we were told the hotel was fully booked. Had another functioning room been offered, we would have moved immediately. The maintenance and breakfast staff were courteous, but the front desk service, management response, and subsequent handling of the complaint were unacceptable.

I'm a fairly low maintenance traveler, especially when flying solo, so this simple motel checked the boxes for a one night stay. Price was comparable to nearby competitors, if not the best room rate in town. Huge plus! Dunes Inn is right on Main Street and within walking distance to several local restaurants. I arrived earlier than expected, and they were kind enough to have my room ready an hour early. For one person, the room was a good size. Brick wall was a bonus! Bathroom was small and in need of an overhaul. Noticeably short bath towels and I'm not even tall! Hangers, microwave, fridge, desk, TV, plenty of lighting, and storage. Bed was average and so were the pillows. If you're okay with a roadside motel, this place does the trick. Parking lot is small for the amount of rooms. Worth noting that even though you use a real key to enter your room, the doors lock automatically behind you. They do offer a free breakfast voucher at the cafe next door. Unfortunately I couldn't take advantage since I was catching sunrise and hiking at the park. A nice gesture though. This ain't the Ritz Carlton, nor is it trying to be. I'd stay here again if the room rates were still lower than others. Nothing wrong with it, nothing great with it!
