It was really busy when we arrived but there was no wait. We were seated quickly, got our chips and salsa, and given menus. My wife had a serious bell pepper allergy. The server did not speak a lot of English but he understood allergy and bell pepper. He was very careful to make sure he food was treated with care. She had fajitas and was happy to see there were vegetables like squash and zucchini, since she can't have the peppers or was a great touch. I had the enchiladas Verde. Usually the options for this are chicken or pork. I had it with beef tips and they were really good. The server was very attentive to our needs despite being so busy. I ordered take out directly in the restaurant from the cashier on my way back from Jacksonville. I ordered the taco salad, substituting black beans for the beef since I'm a vegetarian. The cashier completely understood so I felt confident when I got home, I'd be able to fit into my salad. Low and behold it was absolutely covered with beef I took pictures and sent and email to which I received a very nice reply and was told if I went to the restaurant, they would give me a refund and I replied that even a gift card is fine because I wanted to eat their food again. But today when I went there for my refund gift card, I was given the biggest runaround ever!! The cashier had to get the assistant manager and I had to show him the email and my pictures. I told him a gift card was fine but he said he would give me cash and he walked off. Suddenly was handed the phone and asked to talk to the manager on the phone. He was very rude and demanded to know what was wrong with my food and who sent me an email telling me that they would give me a refund because he doesn't do refunds but would have them make me a new taco salad. That wasn't an option because I was out doing errands and again I asked for a gift card and he started asking me more questions. I finally said look...it's an $8.50 taco salad and just forget about it . I'll never eat there again and will let everyone know about this very negative experience. I've been here with my family for years, multiple times. We always have great service. We always have great drinks. We always have great food. I like sitting in the back more than I like sitting in the front. I really recommend this place. They have an extensive and varied menu and everything is really delicious and fresh. I go this place at least once or twice a month. I have never been in a place that made me feel so unwelcome. My grandson spilled his drink and they were so ugly about it. I'm talking if looks could kill we would all be dead. Not only that. I had put him in a chair beside me and he was arranging the sugar packs in color order. If you are in a wheelchair this is NOT the place for you. The women's does NOT have a stall for a disabled person. Once I managed to get in one -like a tight tight squeeze there were no handrails and trying to maneuver my chair was impossible. My husband had to stand by the door since it would have smashed my knee If anyone had come in. These older locally owned places must be getting by building codes by ???? Food is good American Style. Mexican. Service is fast. No masks here for customers were seen. However I cannot say how many waiters and the manager stood waiting for their orders to come up and looked at the trashed napkin by the window by the front door and never went over to pick it up. This place is trash. Nothing about it is authentic. SoCal Native. My taco was soggy. I open the foil pack and it's swimming in meat juice. The enchilada sauce is comparable to Spaghetti O's Sauce. I went here with my wife for our anniversary. The waiter was very good however I have my card to the waiter to pay for my food. This was the 1st time I ever had used this card and before I got home 1,300.00 was out of my account! Good, competent Mexican in a town with relatively few (non-chain) alternatives. Very nice flavor, big portions, great specials, friendly and quick service. Most amazingly, the food looked the same on the plate as it did on the menu. How often do you come across that? As for 4 vs. 5 stars, it's not the absolute best Mexican I've had, and the interior ought to have a makeover. I would certainly eat here again if staying in Waycross. read more

Tried this place w/Hubby and Daughter very recently. Daughter said she had eaten there several times and was very impressed. All three of us ordered different entrees, with mines being shrimp based, Hubby's being steak based, and Daughter's being Chicken based. All three were excellent! There was certainly plenty to eat and they were very good about keeping the amazingly fresh and tasty chips (and salsa, which was good, but nothing amazing) filled. I'm not certain any of us were able to complete our meal because of the large servings, but we all tried..lol One very positive note I feel should be mentioned is the fresh white cheese sauce. All too often, restaurants thin it until it is almost tasteless. Not this place! It was thick, creamy, hot, and delicious! The food was okay. We ordered the beef fajitas for two. They were a tad underflavored. The ceiling fans were going at full speed so the sizzle didn't last long and food was cool before we could finish eating. We were given 3 tortillas a piece and the serving of fajita barely filled up the third tortilla. But the most disappointing thing about our visit was that the restrooms in the main dining area were out of order. We had to use the restroom in the kitchen. After slipping and sliding over the kitchen floor the restroom was clean. Too clean as far as the sink goes. It was dry. I don't know if it was cleaned just prior to my use but thought there should have been some water in the sink. Draw your own conclusions. The chips were cold and somewhat stale. They were of the thick variety that had a muted crunch. The salsa was good but not spicy. It had good flavor. I usually don't post reviews on restaurants that I visit for the first time but since we were traveling and this restaurant is on the main thoroughfare I think other travelers should know. The place was full by the time we left (7 pm) so I guess the locals really enjoy it. I've eaten at far worse but I can't say for sure that I would revisit this place on my next drive through. read more

I have eaten here 4 times now. I love Mexican food and have had it at 100s of places over my life time. This food is good. All 4 times the service has been very mediocre. I see a lot of reviews saying the service is good and fast. I will continue to come because of the food and they don't have much competition in the area. I was really pleased with my experience here. The complimentary salsa and chips were really good. The person I was with got the taco salad and it was what you would expect it to be. Very flavorful. So-so Mexican food. I ordered the lunch fajitas they came, not on the typical cast iron griddle for fajitas, but already served on a plate. The chicken was properly grilled, but was probably done on a flat top grill and not cooked the the traditional cast iron and do it imparted a different flavor. The staff was composed of mostly Guatemalans and not actual Mexicans, which probably accounted for the menu contain a much more tropical fare than the usual Mexican.
