Stay away from this place! Our room, number 121, was a disaster. There was old vinyl flooring that looked like something that was gotten from the goodwill. It was dirty as evidenced by the state of my feet bottoms and the difference in patterns at one point on the floor. Did something happen there?!!! The fire alarm had no battery. The shower head looked as though it was thick with Ebola. The breakfast...or lack there of...was the another of the disappointments. It was served from 6-9am and at 7:10am, there was no meat, no bagels, no coffee. We did have a choice of dried out eggs that had been on the warmer too long and cereal with milk that wasn't exactly cold. The one saving grace was the bed. It "appeared" to be clean and was relatively comfortable. And the location was near the place I was there to visit. If you go to Springerville, be sure to grab breakfast at Booga Reds and take a trip through the western store near door to this dump. Also, don't be fooled by the name change. It's being run as Howard Johnson by Wyndham. Which is why we chose it. A could of names we know and trusted! Both of the namesakes should be embarrassed and ashamed. This possibly has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed at!! My room was 126 the room looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a long time, from all the dust to finding someone's retainer. To put the cherry on top of things there is so much BLACK MOLD!! Even my coworkers pillows has black mold on them!!! To add on to things my toilet wasn't even connected to the ground. The fridge is just rotting and smelling the whole room up. Half the time your door doesn't shut. Whatever you do stay far away from this hotel. read more

There is a review from 1 year ago by Bec and well I feel that besides similar names I could close my eyes and that experience was my experience. Nothing has changed in a year time besides being a Howard Johnson and frankly the Howard Johnson and Wyndham should be disappointed and disgusted to call this place theirs. Rooms were not clean properly at all as floor was still dirty, sink had hair in it and room smelled like a poor attempt to cover up an awful smell. Toss bleach on it that will work! Not really, it still smelled and has a hint of bleach as an under smell. I am so glad I had the idea of placing the chair against the door to somewhat feel save after reading the reviews so glad I did. Shower head had a nice combination of mildew, rust and maybe mold but I'm not a scientist so not sure on that but any case a shower was a no for me and stuck to baby wiping the pits and other important crevasses to at least appear clean. Fire alarm had no battery but maybe that was a good thing because a fire may help the place out, it would definitely help the smell and possibly the shower head. Breakfast was that of a real champion dry frosted mini wheats! Ok I should Of ate it dry cause the milk was hot, bread looked not fresh and the eggs ya umm no. Coffee was out front desk bad no clue on how to make it so had to wait for someone else to do it (15mins) later. It's been a few day of decompression and reflection and I can still say this place needs a LOT of help. I'm going to try to make this brief: I checked in around 6 pm on Tuesday, room 227. The room stank of pee, but I put it down to it being an old hotel and assuming everything smells this way. I went to the bathroom and realized I had zero towels. Walked down to the office to get some. On my way back I saw a woman, looking a little lost in the parking lot and suddenly she started to yells at something next to her. There was nothing next to her... so we're off to a great neighborhood start! I put the towels down in my bathroom and suddenly realized I didn't have a shower curtain... I text a coworker and told her my plan for a "drafty" shower. Should I have gone to the office and simply request a new room? Probably. But I'm not trying to make it a big deal. So my friend just got me one. I now have all the things. The rooms next to me were vacant yet I heard knocking on my walls and window all night long. Needless to say I did not sleep and my mind went crazy wondering why it smells and where the fuck the shower curtain is?? Anyway, the room smell was almost unbearable when I woke il at 0500. So I opened the doors and window and grabbed a coffee to sit on the patio to start the day. Music coming from my phone was apparently heard downstairs. it's an iPhone...they're not that loud. But apparently the walls are that thin. So I got mad. Went to the office and told them I would be needing a new room with: towels, a shower curtain, on the second floor and doesn't smell of piss. I knew they wouldn't have any ready at that moment so I offered to get the keys when I returned after my meeting at 4. While at my meeting I found 2 coworkers that were also staying at this hotel. One of them was in bed when someone walked in on him. Wrong room... the other walked into "her" room to find a man getting out of the shower. So clearly not her room. When I returned that afternoon I picked up the key. They put me in a room where the beds weren't made, there were crackers and food on the counters... maybe I had walked into someone else's room?? But it didn't smell as badly!! Anyway, they moved me again. This room was fine. Met all the minimal requirements. But the knowledge that anyone might walk in our rooms at anytime left us all feeling very uncomfortable. We literally stayed at the bar down the street as long as we could to avoid being here the next 2 days. XA by the way-amazing!! Food, people, everything!! Really great. Back at the hotel my colleagues were putting chairs against their doors-not to keep people from getting in but to give them a head start if they do... my room didn't have a chair. So I barricaded the door with the bed...the next day I found a large knife outside my door. And the final day, as I was peeing and getting ready to go, Someone walked into my room. It was 8:15 in the morning. I assume the room cleaners would have knocked? I can deal with gross, dirty, noisy...everyone has room to improve, but I have to draw the line at safety. If you cannot sleep safely in a room without the fear of someone coming in, then you cannot sleep. We've tried to laugh about the trip we've dubbed the "Norman Bates escape the room experience" but it's really not funny. Safety is a concern. At the very least this hotel needs to install swinging latch locks. Also, this hotel is now owned and operated as a Howard Johnson by Wyndham. But this is not reflective of any hojo I've stayed at. This motel is now a Howard Johnson. This place may be the worst motel I've ever had the displeasure of staying. It's old. It's a small town. I get it. But it is not maintained to any level of standard. The fire alarm in the ceiling was gone. There was an empty extra blanket bag in the closet area. There was no water one day due to a repair. Then once water was restored there was no hot water for the day. Front desk girl got mad at me because I asked how my family was supposed to take showers. I was informed it's not her problem, the pipes are old, there's nothing she can do but she'll give me $20 off one night. I just want a shower not $20! We stayed here one year prior also and found out we were checked into a room that had so many issues that it wasn't supposed to be rented out. Lucky us. We found all the issues that trip as well. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

I was very disappointed with everything about this place that I didn't even stay one night and I will be disputing the charges on my card. To start, my boyfriend and I waited 15 minutes while one of the front desk ladies was chit chatting with someone who wasn't even staying there, Secondly, we are in the middle of a pandemic and I like wearing a mask just as much as the next person but none of the staff had a mask on yet they felt obliged to hand out free ones for their guests as well as sell them. Now the room, I will add pictures as well, but the bathroom was absolutely unacceptable. There was mold in the bathtub and the bathroom itself just looked dirty. The mini fridge handle had a weird goo on it. Was not satisfied with the room because the pictures are false advertisement and make the room look much cleaner and prettier than it was. Lastly, when leaving and asking for a refund the front desk clerk wouldn't give it to us (because that is there policy which I understand), but when we mentioned the mold and how the room wasn't what it looked like in the pictures, she seemed to not care and made it seem like it was our fault for booking the place and we should have known what we were getting in to. Which concerns me because as an employee, especially one in customer service I think MOLD IN THE BATHTUB should spark some concern. So to conclude, if you come across this post please take it as a sign to not stay here because you'll get screwed over. But the rest of our trip was lovely in show low, so try looking for places there, I can promise they're better than anything you'll find in Eager or Springerville sadly. read more

I selected Rode Inn because they're walking distance to the hospital where I was scheduled for a procedure the next morning. They not only picked me up afterwards, but helped me get my prescriptions from the local pharmacy. Someone also called my room several times to make sure I was OK. The staff is very kind and helpful. read more

Egads, not a mask in sight. No wonder Arizona cases are out of control. What bugged me the most was that the TV was stuck on Fox So-Called News. I exceeded my annual limit of Fox viewing in the 15 seconds it took me to figure out that you can't change the channel (even on the tv itself) and where the hell the mute button is. Rolled into Springerville the other day, and needed a place to rest our weary heads. When asking a local for a recommendation, he said " well it ain't a Best Western". He wasn't kidding. As far as I'm concerned, it was better! Why? Because it was an independently owned, family run operation, with lots of character. The beds were absolutely terrific, the joint was super clean, there were plenty of nostalgic photos and it was just what the doctor ordered for a good night sleep. Breakfast was included and very decent. I would definitely stay here again. Good times in AZ!!! read more

This place was alright. They have a nice lobby and it looks like they do some sort of sit-down breakfast along with complimentary breakfast buffet. They have Wi-Fi and that is good when you are addicted to the internet, and only Verizon works in this small town! The rooms were clean, the mattress sucked, and the parking lot was packed. We have stayed here a couple of times when visiting town for bbq competitions and each time, our stay was great. This is an older motor inn with a lot of history. If you are looking for luxury accommodations, you won't find them in Springerville, but this is a great experience. The lobby is cozy with a lot of Native American decor and John Wayne memorabilia everywhere. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. What else would you expect in a small town? The rooms are older, but clean and comfy. There are no ice machines, but you can pick up ice from the counter in the lobby. They also sell water, soda, beer, and snacks. Free breakfast begins early, at 4am, for those wanting to get an early head start, and has quite a few options. Coffee and juice are available at all times during the day. Oh, and if you stay here, make sure to order pizza from Goob's, a local pizza joint. It's delicious and they will deliver to your room. This will always be our home away from home when in town. read more

Rode Inn is a wonderful respite for travelers. The employees were kind and attentive, the room clean, refresh and very comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast offered, delicious and easy, we could grab and go with hot coffee and breakfast burritos. Definitely will plan on staying here again - loved it was locally owned. What a wonderful place to stay! The front desk clerk was very friendly, my room was so very comfortable from the time I walked in through to the next morning! Its about 15 miles from the border of Arizona and New Mexico. Stayed for a night on my way to Albuquerque. Great place. Free wifi. A nice variety of free breakfast foods to choose from in the morning. It has a western/John Wayne theme to it. It is what one would expect in a small southwestern town. I needed it for one night and it delivered. I recommend if you are in the area and need a place to sleep. 8/10 read more

After driving 18 hours -thru the pouring rain in OK and TX, then the wild life we came upon and driving in the middle of nowhere and almost out of gas) I was beyond exhausted....My hubby and I pulled in at 12;30a on 5/24/15. Thank goodness they had rooms available. The young lady behind the desk was so sweet and very helpful in helping us get checked in quickly. The rooms were a little out dated and worn but clean. I was so tired I would have slept on a couch in the lobby...When we checked out at about 7a - she was still there and she did ask if I was able to get some sleep. I thought that was very nice of her to ask. Its not the Ritz but when your as tired as we were it felt like the Ritz. read more

Was recommended this hotel when staying in town for a wedding. The room was clean, smelled good, and very reasonably priced. Did not try the continental breakfast but the coffee was good and strong to my liking. Pleasantly surprised with our overall experience even though we only stayed there a night. Already planning another visit to the area and will definitely be staying here again. read more
