I took a Sewing Mastery class at Danners Bernina and it was an overwhelmingly positive experience…read more The instructor was extremely knowledgeable and demystified my machine - which I had been having a lot of issues with prior to my class. The store has just about every accessory you could ask for, a good selection of other sewing notions, some fabric and patterns. It is well-stocked, clean and airy. The classroom is generously sized and there was plenty of room to spread out and maintain social distancing, which was appreciated. The instructor even noticed a small part on my my machine that wasn't in great shape...and I just got this machine serviced and they did not replace that part! I wasn't loving my usual Bernina service center before and this sealed it. Even though this shop is 2 hours from me, this will be my new service hub since my machines only need to be serviced once a year (ideally). Great service, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and friendly classmates. I had a great experience here and am now a loyal customer.

After reading all of the glowing, 5-star reviews, I was hoping for a positive experience…read more Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. We needed a little flap of leather added to my son's baseball glove, and after researching online baseball forums, everyone said that any reputable shoe/leather repair place would be able to do it. My husband sent off a message to Contino's along with photos of what we needed, but we never received a response. We took a chance and drove to the shop with the glove and photographs. We were greeted by a pleasant woman and we explained what we wanted. Without even standing up or looking at the glove, the man beside her said, "Oh yeah....I don't deal with those." I looked surprised and he continued with, "I'd have to deconstruct the entire glove and it's too much work." And that was it. I understand that he didn't want to take on the job, but I found his response to be very short and cold, considering that our family made a special trip there because of the lack of response to our initial inquiry. We've always heard great things about Contino's but won't be taking our business there in the future. :(

As for some of the negative reviews, they really come across as bigoted or bullying to me. The guy I talked to at the counter had had a near death experience and talked about heaven. I've never been religious, but wow... I'm mature enough that I'm not going to have a fit and leave a 1 star review if someone talks about stuff I don't necessarily believe in. In White is both the first and last place I went - with some other stores thrown in between. At both of my dress appointments, I had an idea of the type of dress I was looking for, but tried on anything that the consultant or those with me pulled for me. I am over the moon happy with my dress, but even more so with the experience at In White. Doing my alterations there was incredibly easy.
