I have shopped in various fabric/craft stores and always have a problem finding a variety of fabrics at reasonable prices. Well, those days are over. A fabric place is the best place to get a huge selection of fabric and sewing materials. It is not a arts and crafts store which allows it to focus strictly on fabrics. The store is well organized, has everything on display, and is in a very nice location. The owners are very friendly and will work with you to help you find the materials that you need at the budget you can afford.

After visiting several stores across several counties, I went to Sew'N Place to continue my exploration of the various options for embroidery machines. Sew'N Place had been highly recommended by a competitor I visited earlier that day, "He [Michael] is honest as the day is long - you couldn't do better." Couldn't agree more. Michael went over the wide array of machines and listened (yes, actually listened) to what I wanted out of the machine. Again, Wow! Too many places want the most money they can get out of you. I believe and feel that Michael wanted to present me the best option available for the best price as well as a ton of offered help and service as part of who they are and provide to their customers. I ended up with the Husqvarna Sapphire and am extremely satisfied! Also, enjoyed all the antique machines on display. They gave me the feeling that I was a part of many, many years and generations of creating with fabric and thread. The stories those machines could tell! I messed it up (unknowingly) by spraying the canned air to clean it up and it fried the electronics, so I purchased another identical machine that was working and took both to the store to be repaired. I specifically told the clerk that one machine was the donor for the other one. She did make note of it, but it was either missed, ignored or purposely not done. When I went back to pick it up, I knew immediately that the wrong machine was fixed based on the condition of each. Of course, the owner was out of town so I was not able to voice my concerns to someone on charge. So I paid the over $200 bill and left. I did leave both machines there hoping for a good solution. I then emailed the owner and explained what happened and he told me it is not their policy to use donor machines to do fixes, (i was not informed of this at the time of drop off) but that he would fix my heirloom and honor the original repair price. I went back when it was completed and picked both of them up. The heirloom machine powered up, so I assumed it was repaired correctly. Fast forward to today, when I felt good enough to do some long overdue projects and the needle mechanism will not work with the machine powered on, only when it is off. Granted, I should have checked, but so should them, no? It would have been pretty apparent that it still wasnt working correctly if the repair person had gone through some basic steps like winding a bobbin and sewing a few stitches. So now, I'm out over $200 with a useless machine. Watch these people if you go for service, they aren't very effective based on my experience there and I would hate for someone else to get taken like I did. 0 stars.

First, Google listed the opening time as 10 a.m., but the store did not open until 11. We had driven from Baltimore to get ahead of bad weather, tried calling multiple times, and found the voicemail full. There's no website to confirm hours, so we were left guessing whether to wait. Once inside, we spent nearly two hours selecting eight fabrics for multiple projects. Many fabrics were not priced, and the single employee cutting fabric had to repeatedly walk to the front of the store to ask the owner for pricing or answers to basic questions, which made the process extremely slow. The final issue was a large-print fabric that had deep slashes running several yards into the roll, along with visible black marks. I asked that the damaged portion be cut off or that cutting begin from the other end of the roll. The owner refused and told me that if I didn't like it, I didn't have to buy it, stating multiple times that they are a "for profit store." I have over 50 years of experience buying fabric and have never been expected to pay for clearly damaged yardage. We ultimately walked out without purchasing anything, leaving eight rolls at the cutting table--well over $1,000 in sales lost. It's disappointing to see how much this store has changed. It was once staffed by knowledgeable, helpful people who wanted to assist customers. I won't be returning.

Every time I've gone to the Towson location (I've been there the most) the staff have gone above and beyond, walking around with me to help me pick out fabric and batting that would work best for my project. They have so many fun fabrics and sewing accessories. I could spend days in their store! I highly recommend both locations.

Every time I have shopped in the past, I've been told that nothing in the remnant box is over $4.99 a yard. But, the woman insisted that it was still $8.99 a yard and she didn't know how that piece got in the remnant box. OK... Shady AF...No sale! Had she done the right thing, she would've made a very large sale because I needed fabric for multiple projects. Instead, I went to the Fabric Basement in Alexandria and was treated very fairly and got some quality fabrics. I do miss the previous owner, rest in peace, because he was a very honorable and my family frequented this store for about 40 years with no issues.
