My child does not go to this school, nor will her ever, this review is based on our tour experience…read morewith the owner Natalie. A couple things that I observed when we arrived. We as prospective parents and to be blunt "strangers" easily gained access to the play area (no security measures to let us in), we we then piled into the Nido room, where there were several babies. We waited with these babies for about 30 minutes before the tour commenced. One baby in particular was left alone in a corner for quite some time, one of the parents touring ended up going over to console the baby. The environment, all wood, all beige. NO COLOR whatsoever, throughout the entire school, Nido, Toddler class and Primary.....bland...No art on the walls, no fun toys, nothing. Natalie the owner kept stressing teaching "practice life", and this is what I saw, cleaning rags and spray bottles, cooking tools, she discussed the virtues flower arranging for quite some time. I saw some beige wooded stacking toys here and there...again the whole room was beige and grey. The thing that disturbed us most was Natalie's aloofness to serious questions and concerns. Example: "In case of emergency, what is the plan to evacuate the children from the building?" Natalie's Answer: "Well toddlers aren't really interested in fire drills."......WHAT???!! Question: How do you vet prospective employees?" Natalie: "well the Montessori community is really small, and we sorta know them, but we do standard state required backgrounds, and my cousin works here." This answer didn't Inspire confidence... what is the interview process?? What qualities do you look for? Question: what is the turnover rate? Natalie's answer: mmmmm.... wellll...mmmmm...so and so is still here, and...hmmmmm...well... she literally stood thinking for 30 seconds...Literally no answer at all!! It's a small school, you should know!! During the tour we observed not only other parents faces rolling their eyes and laughing as Natalie prattled on without looking anyone in the eye...as if she was totally bored and uninterested in us as prospective parents, we also observed several parent leave in the middle of the tour. The one thing Natalie seemed proud of was....the "waiting list" at Highlands Montessori... as if it was a badge of honor. I don't care about your waiting list. Respect my time, every tour you give should be taken seriously with professionalism. PerWe live on Tenneson literally down the block from this school... and would never send our prized possession, our son, to this school. And they have the nerve to ask for $1800 a month??!! Nope, Nah and hell no! . Listen, this was MY EXPERIENCE, and say what you want there is never a second chance for a 1st impression. And we did find a program where I feel my child is nurtured and loved. There was not a single positive review until I wrote this review. Interesting. But carry on.

I asked a simple question about diversity, and the answer I got was a bit shocking and unsettling. I need to feel good about my child's environment and this is subject matter that will always be important to me, my family and my child's future, it should not be taken lightly or joked about. I think the faculty at this school just need some training on certain aspects of what's appropriate and professional when doing these tours.

Recent change in leadership has proven to change a lot of the issues I had previously discussed and expressed concern with. The new leadership team is really making great strides within improving the school experience for both students and parents. I am looking forward to seeing more positive changes moving forward. One thing that we love and have loved since our very first day is the community. We have an incredible class and the students and parents are all very close. We have finally found our village amongst our daughter's classmates and are so grateful to be surrounded by such incredible families.

We also haven't experienced any serious bullying issues, which gives us great peace of mind. It is more than a "daycare" it's more like a preschool where there are lesson plans for each week. The teacher to kid ratio is great, sometimes there are 3 teachers in my child's room and only 7 kids! Other daycares will send teachers home if they are above the ratio. They switch out activies and toys each week and it's clean. They are extremely caring and patient with the kids. This is truly one of the best learning centers I've ever seen. My children are excited to go to school everyday and feel safe and secure. I would recommend this learning center to anyone.

At the same time, I would appreciate giving them a little time and patience to adjust. They have…read moreonly been in kindergarten for a few days, initially on a half-day schedule, and they have just started full days this week. This is a big transition for them, and they are still learning the routines, expectations, and boundaries of a new classroom. Regarding the hugging, I understand that they may be showing affection and seeking comfort as they adjust. Of course, I am happy to talk with them about appropriate boundaries and when it is okay to hug someone. I just hope we can allow them some time to learn and adapt rather than viewing these behaviors too quickly as a serious problem. I am absolutely willing to work together with you and support the twins in following classroom expectations. I would appreciate approaching this as a learning and adjustment period, especially so early in the school year. I want us to work as a team and give them the opportunity to settle in and succeed. Thank you for your understanding and for working with them. But the person complain that the kids have a hand in their mouth they don't feel comfortable. It's a big transition. Our daughter is attending Accelerated Schools. She has had the most WONDERFUL experience there as…read morehave we as her parents. This is the first positive school experience she has ever had. She is accelerating in every way and she has friends so many friends there! It is the most accepting environment. The entire staff has such a passion for what they do and sincerely want to help your child achieve their goals (whatever they may be). They meet your child where they are socially, academically, etc. Our daughter is neurodivergent and the entire staff is absolutely excellent at meeting the needs of neurodivergent children our opinion. They are ALL so warm, friendly and patient. Each and every staff member. They are also incredible at accommodating academically for each and every child's needs whether they are above grade level or below grade level. Some kids are above grade level in certain subjects and below in others. They recognize that and meet each and every child's individual needs per subject. They take the time to get to know each child and what they need extensively in every way. Our child's needs are accommodated for daily, she is accepted just as she is and is encouraged each and every day. It is such an accepting environment and provides the structure that she needs to excel. She is encouraged to become the best version of herself every single day, loves school and even wants to go on the weekends sometimes. We are overjoyed! Also, the school regularly provides many off-campus field trips as well which we feel is so important to practice social skills outside of the home and school setting. We have seen such a difference in our daughter due to these experiences. I don't know what more you could want for your child! We moved here from out of state for better services for her and we are so glad that we chose Accelerated Schools for her. The teachers are incredible. They sincerely care about each individual child very much. It is very apparent. The school is small enough that they are able to be provide the attention needed to each child which we feel is so important. I a former public school teacher and have taught in three different schools, three different grade levels and in two states. My degree is in Early Childhood Education. I have taught second, third and fifth grades. Needless to say, I am difficult to impress when it comes to education. Also, they encourage arts, music, cooking and other interests your child may have. They recently added "wheels" which has been wonderful for our daughter as they ride bikes, skateboards, etc. so they are getting exercise while spending time outdoors. They spend quite a bit of time outdoors when weather permits and have plenty of room to run around and a playground. It's just a wonderful, beautiful setting both inside and out. Also, the historic buildings are beautiful. The school also has recently had many areas organized by a professional organizer, and they are in the process of adding a beautiful new sensory room! It should be finished soon. If you are looking for an alternative for your child, please consider Accelerated Schools. Our kiddo is engaged, progressing, and happy to be learning, which is a nice change from the past…read morefew years. This is an absolute incredible school and I am grateful we found it! I was not sure a school existed that was a good mix of a small class size and homeschool feel (meeting the child where they are at educationally) as well as challenging them to excel to grade level and beyond. Before coming to Accelerated Schools, we experienced ongoing concerns for the long-term educational needs of our child in a traditional public school classroom. We no longer have that concern. We considered switching to Accelerated Schools last spring when our child needed a change in their educational trajectory. The public school program they previously attended was no longer a good fit and we needed to support our child's neurodiversity as well as cognitive educational needs differently than a traditional public school classroom is capable of. We decided to begin at Accelerated Schools this fall and are thrilled with the environment and the support of the staff, who meet students up front, welcomes them by name, and genuinely care about the student as an individual. I hope this helps others who are seeking an amazing school for their child with differing needs. The environment also provides support for emotional and cognitive difficulties across age ranges of students. I have repeatedly experienced students being supported at varying levels of needs to be able to re-engage the child and continue their educational journey. The teachers go above and beyond to be support the kids and meet the child where they are every single day. I am most impressed by the patience of each teacher, no matter the difficulty a student is having each day. Thanks to the team of educators and professionals who are helping our amazing kids learn and supporting them to thrive to their greatest potential!
