I would give their programming a five and their business practices a one, hence my overall two rating. Usually at the beginning of most years I send them a donation of several hundred dollars and at a minimum of at least two more times during the year they send me mailings that my membership has expired. First of all I didn't sign up for any membership and any organization that I DONATE to that decides I am a member with dues, has already given me agita. Then after I send back their mailing with the date of my donation and the amount, I usually get still another one or more within a month. I understand that they need to beg on air for funds and that is perfectly OK, but other than my addiction to the PBS News hour I should have cut these people off long ago for their disingenuous mail practices read more

I am a life-long PBS fan and have fond memories of watching such great British comedic fare as Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, The Fall & Rise of Reginald Perrin, etc, as a child. In the years since, I have enjoyed the likes of Globe Trekker, Red Green, Rick Steve and various other fine shows. I also understand that, in order to continue providing great programming, they must solicit donations and memberships from viewers like me. The problem I have with RMPBS (specifically, channels 6 and 12 in Denver) is that they are CONSTANTLY BEGGING and, worse yet, airing truly terrible programming during their Begathons, including various "My Music Presents" moldy oldie variety shows (who the hell pays to attend these things anyway?), Soozy Ormand snoozefests and psychiatry shows. Channel 12 aired this garbage and begged for money for a month straight(!) during August, pre-empting any programming worth watching in the process. Why? If you want me as a member, give me a reason to support your specific stations, RMPBS! If you have to constantly beg, at least do so while airing the shows we actually LIKE! Otherwise, there's no reason for me to watch or support you. read more

This station I imagine has programming for people that would find the various subject matter interesting but sometimes it is so dry( example: Celtic Music, technology programs, education programs and the list goes on and on) that you just have to move on. I used to only watch this channel to watch Sesame Street and Doctor Who but in the end they just were not as satisfying as other shows. I still do get sucked into nature programs that they play sometimes and shows that are really a blast from the past like the Lawrence Welk Show. Denver also used to have another PBS station on channel 12 which was more or less the same thing except they had Teletunes which played obscure music videos via viewers requests which gave it a bit more of an edge than this channel back in the day. read more

I gotta stand up for my beloved Rocky Mountain PBS. This is pretty much the only TV channel I bother with. If I'm not watching Hulu or Netflix, you can bet your money I'm tuned to PBS. 3 words: Point of View. Best documentary series ever (Tuesdays @ 9 guys- check it out!) Okay, so maybe you aren't a documentary freak like I am. What else may tickle your fancy? How about Antiques Roadshow? Frontline? Keeping Up Appearances? Masterpiece Theater? News Hour with Jim Lehrer?!? CHARLIE MUTHAFUCKIN' ROSE!!!?!?!?! And once in a blue moon, you might be able to catch the strangest variety show that I have ever witnessed. I have no idea what it's called. In conclusion, I would rather watch PBS every night for the rest of my life than have to sit through one episode of Dancing With the Stars. read more

Programming is great on Channel 6. HOWEVER, be very skeptical about the ease of donating a vehicle to the station. The company they contract with to pick up the vehicles was very difficult to work with. They first came during a time that was specifically listed off-limits by the donator. Then, they refused to narrow the pick-up time the next day so we spent the whole day waiting for them. Clearly, this was not customer friendly. We will not make this mistake again. PBS needs to review their terms with the contractor. A window of two hours for a pickup time would be EXTREMELY helpful. Perhaps the testimonials about how easy it is to donate a vehicle were true for some individuals. But our experience shows that this is not universally true. read more

They have good programs for kids and adults, it's great for the whole family. I loved Downtown Abby and wish it was still on.

Plus, we tune into all kinds of shows like Masterpiece Theatre, Frontline, Washington Week, and many other programs. I grew up watching PBS all my life since I was an infant. This is literally a life saving show that is non profit to most organizations. The channel itself delivers fantastic shows that teach something different to each person. I've never directly been to the actual studio where they broadcast their daily shows, but I've been a huge viewer of the channel since forever. Because of the PBS channel, I learned a lot about the great pyramids of Egypt and how it still stands on until this very day. I always see the kids news where some lucky elementary school gets to broadcast their morning show and give us an insight of their school projects or events that make that school unique. I'm also proud that my little sister watches this channel too because I want her to realize the knowledge that you can learn through watching PBS. Hopefully one day I can be invited to go and explore the actual building. read more
