I absolutely used to love this radio station. I would listen to it constantly and leave it playing for my animals when I'm not home. I've become more and more frustrated and annoyed with this radio station. All they do is ask for money constantly. I understand their budgets were cut and they need the funding. I completely understand that and I love the music, but come on constant asking for money and now they also interrupt night music to ask for money. This is overwhelmingly too much. I will no longer listen to their station. read more

I donated my car to KRCC and ran into numerous issues regarding which charity it went to. They use multiple charities which is fine except they don't tell you that up front which makes it confusing with regard to receiving a tax deduction. read more

If it's the w-e, you have the great NPR shows (wait wait don't tell me is my personnal fav) and if it is night you have the bbc (you can brush up on your brit accent, for me it's a lost cause). In the afternoon, they have talk of the nation, or colorado specific news (colorado matters). Anyway, this is the source of good info, entertainement, eye opening on the world and on what is hapenning here too. It's just the best. As a kid I used to make fun of my parents for listening to NPR because it seemed so boring and stuffy, and here I am in my late 20's wondering what else I'm doing that my parents did when they were my age. CPR is easily my favorite station on the dial, and I'm always very impressed with the "Colorado Matters" show. Ryan Warner is a very good , logical interviewer, and isn't afraid to ask the tough questions. I fear he is good enough to get national notoriety and eventually leave the show, but perhaps I'm just paranoid. Being an internet super nerd and voracious reader of blogs and other sources of real-time information, I would expect to find most NPR content as a repeat to me. However I'm pleasantly surprised quite often with the wide variety of things I learn and hear about on NPR. One star detracted for repeating BBC content late in the evening, and how much Terry Gross annoys me at times. read more

Just listening makes me feel smarter. World, national, and Colorado news. Different news than you can get on TV, read by people who actually sound like they understand what they're saying. Docked one star for being a bit TOO dry, and because if you listen for any amount of time you'll hear the same bits over and over. My motorcycle doesn't have a radio, but this is my new favorite on those rare occasions when I use my car. read more

Many thanks to Tiffany N. for cluing me in to the existence of the latest greatest radio station on the AM dial - Open Air 1340! Apparently I'd been living under a rock since its debut on Halloween 2011. But I am tuned in now and just loving it! The station's format is right up my alley. They feature new music from both local and national indie artists, plus tons of awesome tunes from all of my favorite bands from all eras - old, new and in-between. One minute they're playing a brand new song from Jack White's just-released solo album and the next it's an old Johnny Cash number. And they do a great job of mixing up the playlist so you're not hearing the same songs over and over again. Rock on! read more

News service is excellent, especially morning hosts and local coverage. Classical service is way below other public funded stations (WQXR, HPR-2, KDFC, for example), both in play lists and lack of longer selections. Worst negative for CPR in general are the incessant attempts for raising funds. Many minutes each hour are spent in direct or indirect requests for donations. read more

Denver's best classical music station, in my opinion. I've enjoyed listening to KVOD for many years. The DJ's are knowledgeable about the classical genre. Although I also like listening to adult rock and jazz (KBCO / KUVO), KVOD is still my go-to station for all things classical. My only small nit is that I wish they would play more complete pieces instead of just singe movements from more popular works. We're fortunate in Denver to have such a great classical station. read more

I listen to CPR all day long! (side plug for Jack 105.5 for my music needs) I admit I miss the incredibly superior KPBS in San Diego. But CPR does pretty well. It's the weekend I feel like they really lack. But the weekday programming is on point! Playing the BBC at night is a big plus for me. read more

I listen to CO public radio a lot. I enjoy there programs. cpr keeps me informed about whats happening in this great state of ours. Ive donated. My only wish is they they werent always doing fundraising drives. These tend to be a bit tedious. When they start rambling on about them, i switch the channel. read more

I have an unapologetic addiction to Public Radio and Colorado's KCFR 1340 AM feeds that additction on a daily basis. I love NPR for it's unique take on news around the country and the world at large. A large portion of my sanity is dependent on public radio; I find it to be one of the best ways to stay informed. As an alternative to most of the mass media outlets, public radio is less sensationalized and delivers a broader perspective. While PRI (public radio international) is my perferred listening venue, Colorado's KCFR is the most tuned-in station on my car's radio dial. read more

I stopped paying for cable TV about 5 months ago. My biggest concern was that I am a news junkie. I absolutely love the news. I was worried about staying up on current events. I have found that concern to be unwarranted. About the time I ditched the TV I found C.P.R.! I think the thing I enjoy the most is their news is not sensationalized. In retrospect I realize that the 24 hour news cycle of cable TV news channels was so dramatized. It seems like the news was deliberately delivered that way. I guess it boosts their ratings. Today I want just the facts - thank you very much! I have friends who have cable news still. When I engage in intelligent conversation with them I can really hold my own on current events. I am very well informed even as compared to some of them. Evenings with BBC are amazing. Weekends seem to have a lot of human interest stories. That is a nice change of pace from the week day line up. Another thing that is so cool is that I am always learning new and diverse stuff. Also I am always being exposed to things like music, books, internet resources that I would of never experienced had I not heard about it on C.P.R. and pursued it as area of personal interest. One final thought is that the reporting is fair and balanced. They seem to give voice to conservative, as well as, liberal view points. Unlike the cable news channels that will focus on their own political frame of reference and skew their content to their agenda. So glad I found them. read more

This is about the only thing that ever plays in my car anymore. Except when I want to listen to my downloaded podcasts of This American Life, but it's hard to decide when I'd rather listen to those than the current thing on CPR. I really enjoy Colorado Matters and the broadcasted shows are wonderful: Morning Edition, Fresh Air, Science Fridays, All Things Considered, The World, BBC. I love the range of topics, coverage of the lastest issues, and interest pieces like covering a random music group that I otherwise would not have heard of or listened to. I'll even continue to listen during the Pledge Drives, and I feel proud that we finally became members this year. read more
