We also observed several harbor seals on the cruise. As an added bonus, the weather happened to be perfect this morning. Dogs are allowed on the boat, our mini poodle also loved her outing today. We highly recommend this cruise if you have never been to the Penobscot Bay area before.

You can tell she is very knowledgeable about all things related to central Maine and marine life. The boat pilot was also amazing. He was able to adjust the cruise to keep us dry and out of the really big waves. The boat itself was comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. There is a bathroom onboard and you can even get your Lighthouse passport stamped! I would highly recommend taking any of Camden Harbor Cruises.

Being closer to the water and really feeling the movement of the boat gave that authentic sailing experience. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of narration from the crew/captain. I was expected more of a guided tour with information about the harbor, wildlife, sailing, or Maine's history (since this is how it was marketed). Instead the tour was mostly silent apart from passengers talking amongst themselves. Adding in this commentary would make it feel more like a tour rather than just a boat ride.

Being from Las Vegas, I'll admit I had certain expectations about Maine. Blame the media and me not paying enough attention in history class, but I was expecting to see a few more lighthouses. That's definitely not their fault this is why expectations aren't healthy. a little part of me thought it was going to be two awkward hours of me feeling like I was talking too loud Instead, the crew was fantastic, the other passengers were friendly, and for a couple of hours it felt like we had all traveled back in time. It ended up being one of the most enjoyable experiences of our trip. The crew allows passengers to help handle the lines and raise the sails, which was a really cool touch. If that's something you want to do, be quick and be ready because those opportunities go fast! Just an FYI, if you have mobility issues, I would recommend using the restroom before setting sail. The boat's head (restroom) is located below deck and requires navigating stairs. The crew had a sense of humor and professional. kind of bummed they didn't dress like old sailors with pipes:) perfect weather, the scenery. Romantic or family either way a beautiful memory.

What was a bit ironic for us was we generally wish those leading these types of experiences would talk a little less, but this crew didn't tell us anything about the boat (other than it was 100+ yrs old), they didn't point out anything on the sail, or offer anything, interesting or not (except their opinions of other boats and their crew). They did say to ask them whatever questions we had because they haven't learned to read minds yet, so I did and was met with a bit on a condescending tone by Captain Chris. Just unnecessary. Overall, it was fine but it was little more than a 2hr round trip experience: relaxing and beautiful, and one-and-done.
