After a long walk from the ship port to downtown Cozumel, we stop by Rock n Java for a Margarita and lunch. We picked this place mostly because it was air conditioned but it was really good and right on the beach. When you order carne asada at restaurants, often times you'll have a couple fatty pieces, but not here. We ordered the nachos which were plenty big enough to share and the nest was good quality, and NO fat! The margarita was really good too. The service was quick, friendly and they check on us just the right amount of time, not too frequent where it's annoying and not too infrequent where we had to flag him down.

OK, this is where I'm torn. Been coming to Cozumel 30+years. We were regular breakfast customers on days we weren't diving. Stopped coming to Rock'n Java because of the quality of the food, so we started going to Jeanie's. Food at Jeannie's now going down hill, so we're back to try Rock'n Java once again. Food was good 2 out of 3 dishes, but kitchen service/timing is horrible. Our party of 3 was seated with menus. The restaurant is not big at all. We waited a bit before our server to finally come over and take our order. We ordered drinks, an Omelette, Eggs Rancheros and Waffles with a side order of Bacon. Oddly, when our drinks were served, they brought the toast that goes with my friend's omelette?? Finally again, after waiting quite awhile, the Omelette and Eggs Rancheros comes out so we started eating while waiting and waiting and waiting for the waffles. I flagged down our server 2 times to question where the waffle order was as we finished our egg dishes. FINALLY the waffles were served but they were barely cooked to the disappointment of my friend and no side order of bacon ever came. Atmosphere: small restaurant. Service: OK (bad kitchen service/time management) Food: good except for under cooked waffles)

I LOVE THIS SPOT! The location is so convenient. The food is absolutely delicious and you get a great amount. Everyone is so friendly and kind and every-time I come they remember me and are so accommodating. I highly recommend this place.

Desserts

I visit this place every time I'm on the island, which is two or three times a year. The food is quite delicious and the desserts are super. My favorite is the chocolate cake. The slice is big enough for two to share. The service is always friendly and they speak English if your Spanish is rusty. Nice clean environment and strong wifi.

Rock n Java is a great place for restaurant and brunch. They have an indoor, air conditioned dining area. I've had a variety of items but my favorite is the poblano soup. I wish I could have some shipped to the United States. Their menu is Tex-mex style. They have a lot of great coffee beverages as well. Their espresso martini is delicious. Wifi can be hit or miss on the island but the connection here is consistently strong. I recommend sitting towards the back of the restaurant where you can have a water view.

This spot was a great find when we had a few hours to burn before getting back on our cruise ship. The service was generous and the food hit the spot. We also ordered the coconut shrimp (not pictured) which was the best out of the whole meal!

Local artist work for sale.

Rock and Java has been a staple during multiple scuba visits to the island. The menu is very American friendly with pasta, with wings, burgers, soups, giant pie slices, and 2 for 1 happy hour drink specials. Frequently visit here for decent music, great food, coffee beverages, and adult drinks. They have a spot on the water, so sunset is also on the menu. Do yourself a favor and swing on in!

Very cute little restaurant with giant plates of tasty Mexican food! What more do ya want?! No patio, but they have TV screens up for the World Cup. And much more reasonably priced than other restaurants in downtown Cozumel. I ordered the enchiladas but asked to make it vegetarian, and they were able to accommodate which was super awesome of them. Server was very friendly too.

What a great place it is! We rented a place few doors down for a vacation, and discovered this spot second or third day on the island. Jesus and Cornelius that work there have been very nice, they spoke English which made things easy and pleasant. Atmosphere here is great and safe. And most importantly - food is just amazing. On a photo me eating their nachos. ;) Definitely stop by and try their food when you're in Cozumel!

The breakfast was amazing.!!! The fruit could not have been fresher. Eggs were perfect. The croissant....was just perfect. Oh and the coffee..... hot robust. Was very satisfying We will be back for sure !!! Don't miss this spot. And location is right across the street from la MEGA.

Wonderful chicken and grilled onion quesadilla - only $10 and enough to feed two!

After seeing the great reviews here, we schlepped a couple extra blocks (despite a bit of rain) to visit for lunch. Well worth it. We liked Colores y Sabores so much that we returned on another day. Equally fantastic. The Margaritas (I got Mango) are great. Don't ask for frozen mango margarita because, although they will do it, it lessens the flavor of the fresh mango. Tried it both ways, so I can say for sure, lol. The Beans are something you do not want to miss. Something special about them here. The guacamole and pico de Gallo and chips are the way you'd hope: fresh, crunchy, not greasy and just enough pop. Enchiladas are fantastic - and there are three options for how you can get it. The Mole is outstanding - a little smoky, tons of rich flavor. I rarely order fajitas - but I wanted to go simple one day. Perfect. Tender chicken, and caramelized onions and peppers. Try corn or flour tortillas -- or both, like I did. Another day, I tried the tortilla soup and loved it. Soothing, simple, with strips of chicken and crunchy tortilla. We also got the chicken tacos, which were great. 3, with beans and guacamole on corn tortillas. Our fave, though, was the Chile Relleno. Heavenly. Ground beef stuffed inside and this dish was as satisfying and delicious as anything we encountered on the trip. The Carrot Cake! Definitely recommend that, too. Just sweet enough, and homemade.

The chicken mole enchiladas were outstanding -- the mole was a rich chocolate mole with the perfect amount of spice. You could really taste the depth of the sauce, not too sweet, not too spicy, just perfectly balanced and incredibly flavorful. We also tried the shrimp alioli, and that was just as impressive. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the garlic alioli sauce was rich without being too heavy. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The atmosphere is beautiful -- lush garden setting, relaxing, and it really feels like you're dining somewhere special rather than just another tourist spot. Service was attentive and friendly the whole time. If you're in Cozumel, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I would go back just for the mole alone.

It was basically raw cucumber filled with half-cooked white onion and (maybe) spinach, smothered in a white cream sauce. I took one bite and couldn't eat another. Honestly one of the nastiest things I've ever been served at a restaurant. My boyfriend ordered the tortilla soup and it came out cold. The other "courses" were minimal: about three bites of pineapple icee, plus a few pear slices with candied nuts and goat cheese (that part was fine, but nowhere near enough to feel like a real meal). We had one drink, one bottle of water, and with tip the total was around $100. For that price, this was a complete waste of money. 0/10 recommend--very disappointing and we won't be back. Too bad- beautiful building and good service. The food was just gross.

They have a couple of great regional Yucatan dishes here, like the Molcajete and the Cochinita. San Miguel de Cozumel is admittedly not the most beautiful or interesting Mexican city to do touristy stuff in, so it was a treat to find some great regional cuisine to try. I was with a group, so we ordered the Molcajete (basically, mixed grilled meats in a stew), ceviche, and cochinita (stewed pulled pork), along with tortillas. All of it was great. The sauces, from the salsa to the stew broths to the ceviche sauce, were all terrific. There was mention that they dishes were spicy, but in the end, none of the stuff was super-spicy. Furthermore, the spicy stuff was often a salsa served on the side, or a whole roasted pepper that wasn't integrated into the dish, so you could calibrate your spiciness to your taste. Bathrooms: Basic, but clean and functional.
