We were in Cozumel the first week of June with a one day pass from our cruise ship. I've been here enough to know that we had to go into town to shop and get some good Mexican food. It was sweltering and we chose this restaurant for two reasons: 1. Reviews said it had A/C 2. Good Yelp reviews They didn't disappoint on either. It's a small restaurant and it does take awhile for food. We waited 30 minutes for our lunch. However, the staff is amazing! Our waiter didn't bother us too much but kept checking on us. Even one of the owners came by and asked how we were doing. We had a great view of the ocean from our table as well. Great setup inside the dining room. If you like good guacamole this is the place. It was so good and they don't give you a small portion either. I had the fish tacos and my beautiful wife had the coconut shrimp. I loved everything except the tortillas used for my fish tacos. That's the reason for losing one star. They were cold and the texture took away from the fish. I would definitely come back here next time we are in town! read more

After a long walk from the ship port to downtown Cozumel, we stop by Rock n Java for a Margarita and lunch. We picked this place mostly because it was air conditioned but it was really good and right on the beach. When you order carne asada at restaurants, often times you'll have a couple fatty pieces, but not here. We ordered the nachos which were plenty big enough to share and the nest was good quality, and NO fat! The margarita was really good too. The service was quick, friendly and they check on us just the right amount of time, not too frequent where it's annoying and not too infrequent where we had to flag him down. read more

OK, this is where I'm torn. Been coming to Cozumel 30+years. We were regular breakfast customers on days we weren't diving. Stopped coming to Rock'n Java because of the quality of the food, so we started going to Jeanie's. Food at Jeannie's now going down hill, so we're back to try Rock'n Java once again. Food was good 2 out of 3 dishes, but kitchen service/timing is horrible. Our party of 3 was seated with menus. The restaurant is not big at all. We waited a bit before our server to finally come over and take our order. We ordered drinks, an Omelette, Eggs Rancheros and Waffles with a side order of Bacon. Oddly, when our drinks were served, they brought the toast that goes with my friend's omelette?? Finally again, after waiting quite awhile, the Omelette and Eggs Rancheros comes out so we started eating while waiting and waiting and waiting for the waffles. I flagged down our server 2 times to question where the waffle order was as we finished our egg dishes. I visit this place every time I'm on the island, which is two or three times a year. The food is quite delicious and the desserts are super. My favorite is the chocolate cake. The slice is big enough for two to share. The service is always friendly and they speak English if your Spanish is rusty. Nice clean environment and strong wifi. read more

It was really yummy but I am gluten free and got sick. I think from cross contamination on the hash browns. I wish when I had said allergy they could have let me know about the cross contamination. 4 stars because it was still yummy and they were super nice. My fellow customers also had really yummy food and the cake looked delicious. They ate all of everything so if you have no allergies come visit. If you do have serious allergies please stay away. Rock n Java is a great place for restaurant and brunch. They have an indoor, air conditioned dining area. I've had a variety of items but my favorite is the poblano soup. I wish I could have some shipped to the United States. Their menu is Tex-mex style. They have a lot of great coffee beverages as well. Their espresso martini is delicious. Wifi can be hit or miss on the island but the connection here is consistently strong. I recommend sitting towards the back of the restaurant where you can have a water view. read more

First of all, I knew they had a happy hour starting at 5:00, so we got there at 5 only to find out it only included martinis and the overly sweet frozen drinks. The menu has a good variety. I chose a pasta Primavera which came in a huge bowl with lots of nice veggies. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough marinara sauce to be able to serve it, so I asked for a bit more. If you are in Cozumel and want something slightly more laid back and relaxing, this is the spot for you. A cruise ship crew favorite this restaurant is almost directly opposite the Mega supermarket in Cozumel. If you are docked at Punta Langosta Cruise Ship Pier, you exit, turn right and it's a five minute walk. It's a smaller, very friendly enclosed restaurant with a view over the cruise terminal and Caribbean sea. Good strength free wifi. Of course the coffee, and espresso martinis, are excellent, so is their chicken soup (shredded chicken, avocado, rice and vegetables - all fresh), fajitas, etc. Dressing given to salads is plentiful - so if you like it drier, ask for it on the side. Great food, great cocktails, great prices, amazing friendly staff and a relaxed, rush-free atmosphere. Worth a visit if you are in port or staying for a few days. read more

Instead of the $18 to $1 we got charged $11.25 to $1. Apparently the owner pads profits with this a bit. We just paid pesos with credit card and it was normal bank rates. Hidden away as well as it can be on Avenue Melgar along the coast in San Miguel, this place literally hides in the shadows of some of its more chainy, cheesy, and packed neighbors. And I really appreciated the quieter atmosphere as I was looking to lose a few hours on Cozumel. What I quickly learned is that this is where the cruise ship workers hang out when they have shore leave. The owner seemed like he might have been a former cruise ship worker himself and would swap stories with the patrons who would leave with a "see you in two weeks." I felt like I was part of the action even though I was a tourist. I guess I blended in okay because I was asked which ship I worked for. The views out of the back windows are wonderful. Their employee parking lot overlooks the Caribbean Sea and it makes using the internet with their fast wi-fi and multiple electrical outlets very relaxing. Their beer is dirt cheap here and, thankfully, strayed away from Corona (although I got one of those because I'm a stereotypical bugger sometimes). I tried a Victoria, which is a lager produced by Modelo, that I had never seen in the United States and was perfect with a lime squeezed in and accompanied by some delicious salsa and chips. The salsa actually does come first on the menu and its freshness and spiciness justified the placement. On the way out, because I had to leave eventually, I actually smashed into the window next to the door. Somehow I think if I do ever pay this place another visit, the staff will remember it. But another visit here would be totally worth the embarrassment. read more

I absolutely love Rock'n Java. Not only is the staff amazing, but the meals are as well. All of their pastries are baked fresh in-house. Often they are seasonal because of that. I have been in cozumel for 6 months because of work, and I've found that the most healthy options (vegan and vegetariann friendly) come from here. Try the pumpkin pie if you are here during fall!!! Whether you want Breakfast or lunch, this is the place. Never disappointing, always fresh. I also have a dairy alergy and they have always been so careful in taking care of me. Highly suggested! Their coffee is great, their iced tea is served in a huge glass and it always tastes so good, you can tell it is fresh brewed and they keep it filled up (free refills!). For food - I always go for the breakfast burrito. It has bacon, eggs, cheese and potatoes. You get three of them topped with salsa and retried beans on the side (I prefer without beans). The wedge salad was the largest I have ever encountered, approximately half a head of lettuce with tons of bacon and tomatoes. The blue cheese dressing was a little tart for my taste, but still very tasty. The fajitas were what you would expect, nothing to rave about, but still good. The apple pie a la mode was my favorite part.... The slice was huge, with fresh apples, not overly sweet and delicious crust, which normally I am not a fan of.
