BEWARE of the owner, he makes promises with no intentions of following through with them…read more I would have done zero stars but there is no option for 0. I had to take a month long work trip with very little notice and after looking and talking to multiple horse boarding places I decided to go with Oasis. First we talked on the phone he said he had two 12x20 stalls next to each other with all day turn out. I made him aware that one of my horses is 21 and has severe ring bone and arthritis and definatley needs daily turn out. Also very important my 21 year old gets her 12 pounds senior feed daily or she will loose weight. He said no problem ill take good care of them. When I got there to look at the facility the stalls were only 16x16, really small for 16 hand horses. He reasured me they would be turned out all day, daily and only in the stalls at night. Yelp just said I couldn't have over 5000 characters so I had to really shorten this. Long story short my 2 horses got turned out 1 time in 30 days, my horses did not get there grain and my 21 year old horse appears to have lost atleast 75 pounds, missing there new halters and lead rope. He promised me my horses would be well taken care of. He told me they sent everyone a daily report on water intake, stall cleaning, turnout time and food eaten. I thought wow thats cool never had a facility do that before. He seemed like a very nice and knowledgeable man so I agreed to board my 2 horses with him. A normal border can always hand walk a horse during irrigation or rain, ride them or put in arena but I was 1600 miles a way so I trusted him to do what was needed and he didnt even try. I feel so bad for putting my horses in this situation. And, to put it nicely I really dislike the owner because not only did he totally neglect my horses and there needs he caused me enormous stress for a month. Soooo dissapointed! Feel free to call contact me through messenger if you want more info. There is so much more to this but yelp only allows you to right so much. Misty Beck

That all changed when I moved to Arizona and, after doing some trail rides, decided two years ago that I really wanted to learn how to ride. That's when I found Heart of the Horse, and it's been an incredible experience ever since. Lessons here are one-on-one and thoughtfully structured, blending arena work with trail riding--or both, depending on what you're working on. The property has its own scenic trails where you can walk, trot, and canter, plus access to extended trails along a wash for longer rides during lessons. You can choose between English or Western disciplines, and every instructor I've worked with has been kind, knowledgeable, and exceptionally patient--especially appreciated since I started at age 39! What really sets Heart of the Horse apart is how much they prioritize horsemanship. Each lesson begins with grooming and tacking up your horse, which I genuinely enjoy. It's a refreshing change from typical trail rides where you just hop on and go. Taking that time allows you to bond with your horse, and I love being able to spend extra moments with them before and after lessons to say thank you--they really do carry us around with so much grace. The horses themselves are absolutely wonderful, each with their own unique, quirky personality. And the ranch? It's peaceful and shaded, with a cooler, breezier feel compared to the rest of Tucson. Lessons are offered in the mornings and evenings on weekdays and in the mornings on Saturdays--I personally love the early morning sessions. If you're in Tucson and want to truly learn how to ride, not just sit in the saddle, I can't recommend Heart of the Horse enough. It's been such a rewarding, joyful journey.

The ranch is beautiful, and just five minutes from my house. The horses are beautiful, healthy, and well-cared-for. David, the owner, Jordan, and all of the instructors are wonderful people and excellent at teaching you all that you need to know. If you live on the east side and want to learn to ride, this is the place to go.
