I had heard great things over the years about Boulder Heart. In fact, my brother-in-law, a…read moreurologist in CT even recommended someone there to me, but I was unable to get an appointment with that doctor, so I don't know if he would have been better. I'd had a bad experience with a cardiologist at UC Longs Peak who essentially gaslighted me. Didn't answer one question about my condition and had no recommendations. I should say now that I had a severe attack of pericarditis, fluid and inflammation in the lining around the heart. It turns out that the doctors around here don't know anything about it if it doesn't just go away on its own. This is a problem. But, back to Boulder Heart, and Dr. John Schutz and how they run their Erie clinic. I first saw a PA in Boulder who I liked a lot, she didn't know much about the condition, but was supportive. My BIL set that up for me prior to seeing Dr. Schutz weeks later. You wait at least 3 months to see doctors, and they're not very available in between. The first visit was good. Dr. Schutz is a very nice man. He told me to stay on the medication another doctor had started me on at the ER for 90 days, and then to just stop. That immediately didn't feel right, but apparently that's what his literature said about the medication and this condition. I saw a different story online when I researched, with this condition not just magically going away like that, but he convinced me to just stop the meds at 90 days in, even though I told him I was still getting some fluttering in my chest. That was September of last year. He said he'd be there to support me if anything went wrong, but he said it wouldn't. I trusted him. Unfortunately, within 24 hours of dropping the medication, the condition came raging back. I called, I wrote in the portal, I spoke to his MA. The doctor was "unavailable" and the whole clinic, including their clinic manager in Erie treated me as if I were an invasive species instead of a patient in need! Days later, I put myself back on the medication. Since I was unable to reach Dr. Schutz and his clinic manager not only refused to help me, but essentially told me to go away, I went to my rheumatologist. She's literally the only doctor who has any idea about this condition in this area that I can find. Thank God for her! Pericarditis can be a tricky condition that can reoccur. There are protocols for managing it individually for each patient as my rheumatologist does, but it wasn't until I saw Dr. Schutz again over a month later, that he apologized for how I was treated. He finally admitted that he didn't have experience with pericarditis that didn't just go away, and wasn't sure what to do. He didn't even know that the pills I was on had perforations so you can cut them in half. He wanted me to come back to him anyway! What? I had to practically fight with their clinic manager to get a call from the original PA (who was helpful, but apparently not allowed to treat me, because they don't work in teams, and apparently only your assigned doctor can direct care!) His staff was not only useless, but hurtful. I asked Dr. Schutz to please consult with my rheumatologist, but not only didn't he try, but she left him a message that he didn't return. That was it. Why should I keep going to a doctor who didn't bother to even follow through on an agreement like that? I'm currently back with UC Health and a different doctor there who DID consult with my rheumatologist and who also said up front that he didn't know what to do about this condition. At least he was honest. He also tried to find me a specialist in Colorado and let me know that he couldn't find anyone. I'd have to go to the Cleveland Clinic or other specialty clinic out of state, which my insurance will not cover. It's been nearly a year since this whole ordeal started, and I'm slowly weaning off of the medication, so we'll see what happens next. The rheumatologist is there for me if it comes back, she has a plan. It would have been nice had Dr. Schutz admitted he didn't know from the get-go, and if he'd at least tried to learn about it! It's a heart condition, after all! I won't give 1 star for this because at least he's nice. But, he set me back a minimum of 3 months, maybe more, and his staff is not only not patient-focused, they can be downright hostile when a patient is in crisis. There might be better staff there than I experienced, but I won't go back unless I get assurances that they know what they're doing and have changed their attitude. Everyone doesn't need to go to the ER. That's what they wanted me to do. I knew what was happening and those who knew the symptoms confirmed it. I didn't need to go through the trauma of IVs and another round of radiation when I've already had a lot. But that's Boulder Heart's only answer. Hell, the first time I went to the ER in May, they misdiagnosed me! U.S. medicine is in horrible shape. How this clinic is run is part of the evidence.

I rebooked and waited three months for the second appointment and it was canceled on the day of the appointment. I don't think there are any good cardiologists here who have reasonably quick appointment times. The person that I talked to said that it was because they can't fill open positions for Cardiologist. Most likely because of the expanse of living in Boulder and the pay that they get. Boulder Heart is not state-of-the-art. It's barely keeping up with cookie cutter answers to physical questions. Unfortunately, there are not very many other places to go unless you wanna go to Denver. Don't try contacting them with a complaint because they will not respond.

I am giving him a one star rating... 1. on two occasions I was less than 5 minutes late and turned away. On one occasion I was assisting in an accident that occurred and the second occasion was due to weather that was not forecasted causing traffic to be extremely long. I love about 35 minutes away and would leave at least an hour before my appointment. I was technically late, but where is the reverse "punitive measures" when I am forced to wait? 2. When speaking with the staff that schedules, they are very abrupt and short. If I asked them to repeat anything, it was met with a sigh and attitude in the voice as if I were putting them out. 3. Billing is terrible. I have never received a first bill, only bills that say I am past due and pay immediately. When I call their billing office, I am met with an answering machine after a few minutes of prompts and have only received a call back 2 out of 5 times. Overall the feeling is that I am a number and dollar figure, not a patient.

Cool Clinic I can…read moresay a lot of things about this place but overall it hasn't let me down. So, here are a few points to simmer on: Highlights & Low-hights *Bright and clean but their layout sucks. Apparently they didn't want to renovate so it has 4 different waiting areas & "front desks." (o.O) *One of those sections is an in-house pharmacy. Convenient but they don't carry everything. *Staff is cordial no matter what type of insurance you have *Doctors and nurses are pretty nice *Phone system for the entire clinic chain (LOL, I totally forgot what that's called) SUCKS! Sometimes I never get any call backs. This ESPECIALLY holds true for their dental department. Never have they ONCE called me back... and I blew up their answering machine. I guess if you are persistent, they could careless! I'm still a fan because they do treat me right when I'm there. Do I recommend this place? Well, this is the only clinic I've been to in the entire state ever since moving here under a year ago. So, I suggest you do your research & visit to check things out if you must. I'll be back, in fact, I have an appointment set up for my kids in two days.

I called the "People's" Clinic, which is now part of a group of several clinics. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes I asked this lady at the "call center" (they are so big that thy have a call center now????) if they were still on Broadway or if they moved, she said she had no idea, and I got disconnected. Several hours later, I called back. This time I was on hold for 45 minutes (!!) I was told they were booked until November 4th, they don't do cancellation lists, don't book past Nov 4th, and I was basically SOL. People's Clinic my tight white ass.

He takes time to listen and I don't feel as rushed through appointments here as I have at other offices. The nurses are always helpful and have been wonderful about fitting me in even last minute or one time when I didn't have an appointment. I showed up close to closing and turned out to have a bigger issue than I thought and they never made me feel bad, even though I would have been annoyed in their shoes. I fully recommend this office for a primary care provider.

Terrible!!!!!! 2…read moremonths ago I tried starting the process of trying to get a cardiology appointment. 1st Dr. Daarud was dismissive about my concerns about my hearts health and condition knowing that my daughter just had a heart transplant. He said I looked healthy and there was no need. I had to insist on a referral. It took a month to get the referral to the cardiologist from that office. I called numerous times for weeks to get it done, all while no one would even answer my calls, return my messages or even give me an update about the progress of a simple referral. After dealing with that head ache, they did not submit paper work to the insurance company until less than 24 hours before my appointment. Once submitted they submitted the wrong code. Well due to their lack of timing once again my schedule was cancelled and I had to reschedule. All while this is going on I'm able to communicate with the cardiologist, the insurance company but not Avista Family Medicine. They would not answer their calls, would not call me back. Absolutely no communication. After day 2 since my appointment was cancelled, I had to physically go to they office for an hour and a half and have them send in the correct paperwork to ensure a cardiology appointment since they never called me back. When I expressed my concern to them they listened but seemed irritated with me and my concerns(2 months to just make an appointment mind you). She told me the supervisor Suzanne will call me and go over my concerns with how poorly things were handled. Surprise, surprise no call. It also concerns me their is no accountability in that office especially when the person helping me out says that "she should not even be doing this work because its not her job and she is only an assistant" I finally get into the cardiologist today. I have an irregular heart rhythm and will have to go into a procedure in which they put me to sleep to preform a heart Atrial Fibrilltion. From the beginning Dr. Daarud had been dismissive of my concerns. Barely looked at me and said I was healthy and there was no need to see a cardiologist. I had to insist on a referral. Took 1 month for the referral. Another month to submit correct paperwork. They have yet to contact me to this day. I now have to have a procedure that could have been avoided 2 months ago. I feel that people deserve better than this office provides. I have pretty low expectations but when an office can run with so little care, follow through and general respect for their patients and their concerns, they should not be in the medical field.
