What started off small turned into replacing the entire roof and a much higher cost than originally expected. After taking off the roof and looking at it they asked for money for supplies (which we did give them and the gave us a receipt). The supplies they got were 6 2X4's and some nails (not requiring nearly as much money as given to them). After 5 days of not much progress they left for the weekend and we asked about covering the open roof. They did cover it with a tarp and said it would be fine. After the first night we called them back because the tarp had blown mostly off. They did come back (8 hors after the call) and put it on again. I asked them to fasten it with nails and boards on the edge. While that did help it did not stop the water from coming in through the many holes in the tarp. Rain hit that night and water leaked through in the kitchen, foyer and bathroom creating more of a mess. We did reach out to another roofing company after discovering that many of the pictures of their work on the website were taken from other sites. After we terminated them and got someone else (reputable) to come in and fix the roof for less than half of what they asked for they continued to reach out and ask to complete the project. We said no and they said they were done with us and we could keep the ladder they brought. There is no score low enough for these people. Stay far away from them. We did also notice that the same basic 5 star review was on several sites with different names, even one that seemed like theirs.

I called about 10 asphalt companies to give me a price, a lot were out of my price range including…read moreSam's (Modern Paving) I always ask if they can do better on price some take 500. off and some say that's the price. To me as I was in business for myself and if I gave a price to a customer and they couldn't do it I would work with them even if it means cutting my profit margin. Because making another customer smile is whats being in business is all about. Money is not everything. Plus that customer will tell a friend etc This is what Sam did for me. He gave me a price, I told him it was out of my budget and he wasn't leaving until he could get me as a customer and I feel he was very eager to make me happy and get my business. He lowered his price but it was still A little higher then I could afford. So I went with the cheaper guy . This was in August. The other guy told me I'll be there Monday he never showed up. I called numerous times and always got an excuse or he say I'll be there next week. Bla bla bla. Well, it's November and still no driveway I called him back 1 last time why, because it's was 2000 cheaper then Sam's final quote He said he would be there Monday, no show lol. Well I called Modern Paving Tuesday he came on Wednesday to refresh his mind and go over what I wanted. He showed up at 3:30 as planned we went over everything and said he will be here tomorrow. And it would be done tomorrow!! He came and I'll tell you something he went above and beyond to satisfy me. The driveway is 30' wide and no seems! Because he took the extra time to do it by man power versus the machine. which I was going to get with the other guy. And it would of looked terrible. Some people get worried about how Sam is so eager to get the job, some would call it desperate But he is a dying breed people, someone in business who wants to work with you to get what you want done. It's priceless. I highly recommend Sam over anyone. He was not the lowest but not the highest either. Bottom line he gave me a warranty in writing 1.5 yrs!! A desperate business man don't give that! You won't be disappointed with Modern Paving Sam's the Man!

At the beginning of 2024 our homeowners insurance suggested that we have the cracks filled in on…read moreour walkways and our one car parking spot and our 2 car parking spot. We called Sam at Modern Paving who came to our Taunton home to give us an estimate. He talked us into re-paving all of our asphalt and although his price was a little steep, it sounded like he knew what he was doing so we gave him the job, to the tune of $9,980.00. On 3/4/2024 they came to do the job we gave him a check made out to him and not to the company. It really looked good when they were done. None of the old asphalt was remove because nothing was crumbling so they re-paved over the old material. Fast forward one year later, I noticed that there was a couple of cracks in the new asphalt. I called Sam and he stopped by to look at it. He told us that he could "fix" the cracks and that we should have a seal coat put on. We agreed and on 3/24/2025 we gave him another check to the tune of $3,000.00 made out to him and not to the company. He brought his worker over and supposedly "fixed" the cracks and put down the seal coat. Fast forward once again. Here we are on February 15, 2026 and the cracks are back again! This time, I will fill in the cracks myself. We NEVER want to see him on our property again. And as far as his "advertisement sign" that he left here a year ago, it's going in the recycle bin. We called and asked him to pick up his sign twice, always making that promise that he would stop by for it but never showing up. Perhaps he never showed up because the work that he does doesn't hold up to what he charges. We've given him a total of $12,980.00 from our savings. He should be ashamed of the business that he does and especially doing it to senior citizens!!
