John came out that day and met me after work and come to find out the 60-80ft pine tree was split down the middle to about 5ft above the ground level. John provided a fair price and due to concerns of the tree being split said he would have it down the next morning which they did. They did an awesome job and left the site immaculate. It was a mistake to try Simply Local Wood. I should have read the reviews. On the plus side, they…read moredelivered quickly. On the down side, Simply Local Wood only delivered 3/4 cord - but I paid for a full cord of kiln-dried. 395 plus 59 delivery charge for a total of 454. I sent them the below pictures and asked them to come take a look. They said they would, but then said they would not, telling me that the wood they delivered was "sufficient." I asked for a partial refund and they declined. Essentially Simply Local Wood screwed me out of $100. Other issues (kinda nitpicky): log length is not uniform. Ranges in size from 7" to 17". Most fell within the 14-16" range, but there were wayyy more shorties than 17s! The shorties were doubled up where possible, and used to fill gaps. Wood was not screened, so there were two trash barrels of bark and dirt left over on my gravel driveway. Pics are below. It's easy enough to do the math. The length of the pile is 20', the width of the pile is 1.333 and the height on the right side of the pile is 4.8'. The big gap on the left where the wood is missing - that is how much Simply Local Wood screwed me.

I have a whole cord that was given to me as a birthday present and I could barely make it burn had to keep throwing in firer burners in it to keep in going did that for 2 days. I stopped, I found Simply LocalWood and bought 1/2 cord of wood. I couldn't believe it. I put in a little fat wood a little paper I put in wood I got, it literally started blazing in about 15 minutes and it never went out til it died a great death. All I had to do was take out the ashes. I will be a Simply Local Wood customer as long as I can burn wood. I will tell everyone I know about this company and how they season their wood, they bake it in ovens to take the sap out of the wood and that is why it catches fire so fast and doesn't stop til it's a pile of ashes. I've been burning wood for over 40 years, never heard of baking wood but it's the best way to go if you don't want keep fighting to try to keep your fire burning. Give Simply Local Wood a try you won't be sorry. Really you will feel great knowing that you won't have to worry about unseasoned wood not burning again. I am now a customer for life. Patricia Perry

The wood hissed and popped letting off more black smoke than I have ever seen. $400 worth of meat ruined because I was given "green" wood. Will never use this place again. Have only used this company twice for kiln dried firewood with a large gap of years between the two…read moredeliveries. The first load, several years ago, seemed to contain larger pieces, and less 'debris', but as it has been years, it honestly could be the same, so take that with a grain of salt if you will. There is a delay of weeks between ordering kiln dried and delivery. Just about the time I was expecting the delivery, I received a call that they had the truck loaded up and the recipient refused the order due to some emergency, and would I be available to take it. It happened that I was home, and available to stack wood on the day he called, so I accepted the load. It does seem to be a full load, that is, 1 cord, and as I stated, the pieces all seem a bit on the small side: not in length, but in girth. Kiln dried is, as stated, dried, so the pieces are smaller- that is expected. These just seem a bit too small from memory of the last delivery. We have had an opportunity to burn a couple of times and the wood lights right up and burns longer as kiln dried does without needing to restock the insert. All in all, we are happy to have kiln dried firewood. the delivery was within the timeline expected, the driver accepts cash or check (no credit cards) and he dumped it right where we asked him to without incident.

They piled up the large limbs and trunk on my front lawn and left them there for a week and didn't grind down the stump. The stump removal was urgent as my backyard fence was up against the tree and needed to be replaced immediately following the tree service. After 3 phone calls, they came back 2 weeks later , ground down the stump, damaging my asphalt walk way and basically destroying my back yard in the immediate area of the job. Do yourself a favor and avoid these clowns. I've never once felt the need to write a bad review about someone, but these people must be stopped.

Finally pulled out my moisture meter after having the wood sit by wood stove for a month and its still at 28% moisture content with 1/4" probes, which means its even wetter deeper down. I run my wood stove everyday and I'm almost out of dry wood now sitting in a cold house. Additionally, 1/3 of the cord of wood I got were massive logs that I have to split myself. Waste of time and money.
