    What's that in the water?

There's more then a few choices for kayak rentals in Morro Bay, however if you want supreme customer service from a great family run business, this is the place!! The owner and his staff are wonderful!! This was my 3rd time here and everytime they provide great service and a great product, at very reasonable prices. Thank you Rock Kayak Rentals, I will always come back and I appreciate your services!

    Very peaceful kayak experience.

Great kayak experience in Morro Bay for a great price. We have used Rock Kayak 2x without issue. Clean and safe equipment; they provide life vests in multiple sizes. Accepts cash or card. Very kind and helpful Staff. The bay is relaxing, no waves, nice to explore/ see wildlife, & safe! Highly recommend for all ages, do not need to be physically fit. We will be back!

Best kayak rental outfit I have ever rented from! Such cool young guys running the business. Excellent prices. I was out for 2.25 hours and he was going to charge me $15. I knew that wasn't right, so I reminded him I was out for 2 hours and he made it $25. Still so cheap for an unforgettable experience of a lifetime! Kayaking in Morro Bay, CA. I had such an incredible time. It was like being in a David Attenborough documentary. Hung out with two families of sea otters for a long time. Those critters are so adorable and playful! I was watching two adults swimming together wrapped in an otter helix together and aggressively biting each other's faces... then I noticed that there was a skinny pink protrusion from between one otter's legs. Yep, that's right, otters are into BDSM. Multitudes of brown pelicans and you can kayak up 6 feet away and they don't get scared.

The employees were very nice to us. Instructions were straightforward in terms of how to work the kayak. Also, make way for ships and other boats that are passing by and respect the marine life. I think we just met Jerry the otter, he was very friendly! We rented the kayak for an hour, you may add extra hour if desired. They provided us a bag for belongings to be taken with us in the kayak. This activity is a must when visiting Morro Bay!

What a great time in the bay yesterday. My fiancé, her mom and myself all went out for a hour. It was great quality of equipment, they were very helpful and nice. I didn't even look at how much it was going to cost and $40 for a hour for a single and a double was perfect. It was a great experience and will 100% be coming back.

I will not rent kayaks here again. Very surly staff; put a damper on what usually is a fun experience. Unpleasant both coming and going.

Quick and easy for a 9:30am kayak. Wish they had better kayak styled life vests. They had the regular type that rode up while paddling.

So sad to see such a great business go down hill staff isn't as joyful as the others were. Service is a lot slower than it used to be.

John, our paddle tour guide, took us to a number of special places through the bay and we learned a great deal about the local marine life and history. The water was smooth and easy kayaking and John didn't need to rush. When we got to the dunes, he set up a fine picnic dinner with great salads (the couscous was my favorite), crackers, bread, hummus and carrots. There was beer, wine, and sodas. The paddle back had an amazing sunset as a backdrop (no fog!). Altogether thoroughly amazing!

It was easy to follow John through the calm waters on a cloudy Saturday morning, and we enjoyed learning about all sea otters, birds, harbor seals, oysters, and ecosystems. We saw so much wildlife while keeping a respectful distance. We greatly appreciated John's patience with 5 girls who all reunited for the first time in four years and had much to catch up on. The tour was so well organized and he was truly a wonderful guide. We can't recommend this tour enough for some seriously therapeutic time with nature!!! Don't be afraid if you're a beginner! They go through the basics with you and are nearby to help if needed. Life vests are worn at all time for safety. There was a big parking lot and quite a few unisex restrooms available.

You could go to it from the main road which takes you through the country side. Also wineries along the way which we found out. Along the whole stretch of the drive, there is no parking along the highway. Sucks that you can't get out for a picture of the lake. We finally made it to the entrance which there's a fee to get in. We literally just wanted to see the lake and get a pic. Give or take, 5 minutes or so. Spoke with the entrance guards, it was 12.00 per vehicle and as we had our dog with us, that would be another fee for pets. Instead, we just opted out to leave. Honestly, kind of sucks that you can't check it out without having to pay to get in. Not only that, they do offer camping which the camp site wasn't that far. Hiking trails as well as a boat ramp. The parking area when you enter is where the check in and customer service are. I believe there's a public restroom as well. We ended just getting out and stopping right at the gate to take a quick picture of the lake. From what we could see, there was people fishing right along the base. Curious to know if you could just leave your car at the lot and walk down to the water which was a like couple min walk when we left. Or maybe even that, you still have to pay a fee. Regardless, it was somewhat beautiful from what we could see off the road. Along the whole drive in till the entrance, no stopping or parking along the road.

We had a fun ferry ride to the islands and even got to slow down to watch a large Sunfish (Mola Mola) snacking on some jellies. I recommend getting in line early to secure the best view seating on the ferry. Our kayak guides, Chuck and Adam, were exceptional--knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They made the entire trip both fun and informative, while ensuring we always felt safe and well cared for. We were fortunate to have perfect weather and warm water, which allowed us to explore all seven sea caves--many of which are inaccessible during high tide or rougher conditions. It made the experience even more special. Having lived in Santa Barbara for 22 years, this was my first time visiting the islands, and it was truly unforgettable. The pristine landscapes, abundant sea life, and even spotting several tiny island foxes while enjoying our picnic lunch, made it an unforgettable adventure. We can't wait to do it again--highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exceptional experience!
