There were plenty of white-tailed antelope squirrels running round to watch, cute! In all, I would say this is worth the drive if you're a huge fossil or dinosaur nerd.

That is until you realize this area of Utah used to similar to the African savannah with wet and dry seasons. Now the site is a dry and barren desert with sparse plant life. There's a lot that can change in 150 million years! The dinosaur bones amassed at the quarry are from dinosaurs that died and were floating around in a lake. The bones were mixed up and layered upon each other as sediment in the lake bed built up over time. The scope of geological time is challenging for human beings to comprehend. Considering the changes over 100 years is challenging for us, let alone 100+ million years. Visiting the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry provides an opportunity to look back in time and consider how much our world has changed. During our visit, a ranger showed us the second building, where they are currently excavating, and explained a lot about the area's history and their findings. It was fascinating to talk with an expert about what they've uncovered and learn more about this important site.

Definitely worth the minimal admission price! The staff were super friendly too. We only had about an hour to spend here because of time constraints but we definitely could have been here longer. They seemed to be working on renovations so I can only imagine it'll get even better after that! Also a cool fact is most of the fossils they have in their collection were found locally. What an amazing natural wonder!! Pando is a single male Aspen clone - it spans 108 acres and has…read moreover 40,000 trunks all on one giant shared root system - one giant tree!! It weighs 6000 tons and is the heaviest known organism in the world! And if all that isn't interesting enough, the root system is estimated to be several thousand years old!! :-o Pando used to be the largest known organism in the world period - but was booted from the top spot by the discovery of the Oregon fungus mats lol. Still the heaviest though and well worth a visit. Pando is a "quaking" or trembling Aspen and is also known as The Trembling Giant. The leaves will tremble collectively, sometimes even without wind - very interesting experience!! (See my video attached to the review). You can find Pando just south of Fish Lake near Richfield Utah. There are some viewing pull-offs on the way in, small parking areas and campgrounds nearby with restrooms and a few hiking trails. Fish Lake is also a great place to explore - the whole area is just gorgeous - Highly recommend!!

I had the absolute pleasure, privilege, and joy of watching my son get married in this beautiful…read morehistoric courthouse this past summer! It was a perfect, elegant venue and the staff involved made a typically stressful situation seamless and so easy. A courthouse has been at this location in one form or another since the first one was built in 1866, then a second larger one in 1872, leading to the most current neoclassical Greek style building you see today - built in the 1920s. It's massive and opulent - full of marble, statues, balconies, chandeliers, and art deco stained glass! It's well worth a stop if you're exploring the area - even if you aren't part of a wedding. About a month prior to this, my son and his then-fiancé decided to cancel all their original plans, do something much smaller, and they moved up the wedding date by several months - so we were all scrambling to pull this off inside of a month to say the least lol. I had to help the kiddos plan everything out last minute - which would've been chaos except I found this beautiful venue pretty easily by doing a google search of historic courthouses in the area. And it was even easier after that bc they have an online appointment booking system for marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies. In less than one week we had appointments booked and all the basic plans made! The kids were able to get the license easily and effortlessly - what a relief. The day of the ceremony we showed up and waited in line for less than 10 mins. Bc we originally were going to use their officiant, we had a scheduled appointment for their ceremony room etc. But bc my now-DIL was having her ordained uncle perform their vows, we didn't need the ceremony appointment after all and were free to perform the ceremony anywhere we wanted. We absolutely loved the interior of the main courthouse and asked if we could have it in there without an appointment etc. Since our party was pretty small (there were 14 of us), they happily gave us permission as long as we kept the noise level reasonable bc there are offices inside with employees etc. And there were no fees for holding it there so that was a nice bonus. Everyone we encountered inside the building was friendly and helpful and we had the place to ourselves the whole ceremony! It ended up being such an incredible ceremony and experience - better than we ever could've expected. The staff were also very obliging in regard to the photography - I made sure to bring my camera of course lol! Getting to photograph my son's wedding made it that much more special. It's the only time I've ever photographed humans haha!! And likely the only time I ever will lol! The grounds are beautifully manicured and make for some excellent photo ops as well - especially with all the mountains in the background. There's plenty of free parking surrounding the buildings and it's all flat and very walkable. Huge Ty to all the staff at the courthouse for helping to make our big day so special!

This is a beautiful courthouse in downtown Provo. Utah County clearly paid great attention to…read moredetail in restoring and upgrading the building. It has a historic, palatial feel as everything is glossy and new with an old-timey style. The outside of the building has a traditional neo-classical courthouse design complete with marble pillars and carved fresco at the top. The marble stairs leading up to the main entrance are also impressive and clearly made by hand. Inside, there are offices for community organizations, as well as the American Legion on the top floor and second floor, with a few courtrooms on the bottom floor. There is also a marble statue on the main floor. It appears that the courthouse also serves as a community space. We stopped by during the Freedom Festival on the 4th of July and they had an art exhibition on the main floor. Everything was super clean and it was clear that everyone respected the space. Overall this is a neat stop to make if you are in Provo on a trip or looking for a short and interesting activity. Five stars!

By now, the noon sunlight is unforgiving for photography than at 8 am, but the tenterhook rock (on every side!) and other rocks, and thrilling landscapes more than made up for it.  The mostly paved 0.25-mile loop trail is an easy walk. There is a picnic area with a bathroom in the opposite direction, which I didn't go to.

That said, I was very happy with the experience. The gift shop is modest in size, but does have some neat items in it. Recommend seeing the quarry visitor center, taking the shuttle to the dinosaur wall, and then doing the fossil hike back to the visitor center.

The parking lot is huge, and there are pit toilets if you need to make a bathroom trip. If you are so inclined and don't want to get out in the heat for the hikes to the arches, you can even see them from the parking lot from your car. Otherwise the arches are a short hike away. Additionally, it's good with people who have limited mobility as a lot of the trails don't have elevation gain. For example, the Double Arch trail is considered "barrier free." The trail has a hard packed surface. There can be lines for people who want the perfect shot, but otherwise it's not too crowded.

But we finally saw a sign posting the parking to the Wall Art - and we were so glad we hadn't turned around. This place is amazing!
