I have just returned from a 5 day trip. We're a couple in our 40s, no kids, and we stayed at Dreams…read moreOnyx but spent most of the time at Breathless Punta Cana. Both resorts are connected so you have full access to both (except preferred areas). Get ready to do some walking and get lost while you learn how to get around. By the way, for the restaurants, they should have bigger signs to make our lives easier when trying to find them. Food at the specialty restaurants is one of the best food I've ever had in an all inclusive. I recommend: - Bluewater steakhouse at Dreams: Skirt steak, short rib, Rib eye. - Coquette at Breathless: Beef tenderloin - Capers (Italian) at Dreams: Lasagna, Funghi risotto, chicken parmigiana. If you go around 7pm get ready for an average wait time of 45 min to an hour. They give you a buzzer and you can wait at the bar area having some drinks. If you go prior to 6:30pm you may be able to get seated right away. Buffet for breakfast at both Dreams and Breathless were good but we preferred the one at Dreams. It was an open air tropical vibe kind of restaurant. Lunch buffet could be much much better. Lots of variety but most things didn't taste good and we're not pick eaters. Taco truck is good but nothing really special about it so I don't get all the hype. Pork taco was better than chicken. Most of the times I had lunch at the burger grill by the beach. Their fries were 100 times better than the buffet fries. (No, the lunch buffet couldn't even get their fries right). The burger grill at breathless is better since they cook their burgers while you're waiting so you'll get them fresh. Main pool at Breathless had a good vibe, friendly people, good music, but, unfortunately, a lot of times they use YouTube with commercials when the entertainment team is not around which is ridiculous and amateur, but other days they had a playlist with no ads. The party pool at Breathless was a joke, even during the afternoon parties. Very boring. This was my main disappointment since I've been to Breathless Riviera Maia and it was much more fun. But since I was happy with the vibe at the non-party pool I didn't care about it. Lazy river at Dreams is also good, perfect for those hot days since there are multiple water falls. No need to bring your own floats, we always found available ones. Evening entertainment is a hit or miss. Silent disco was fun and so was the club afterwards. Unfortunately, it rained, so the white party was moved inside. The space was too small for the crowd and the music was good at first but the it became too repetitive. Not my type of thing. I didn't even go to the Dominican show the next day. Staff was very friendly. I still think the staff in Cancun in general is friendlier than in DR but the staff at Dreams and Breathless did not disappoint. You will come across a few people who seem to dislike their job but 90% of them are friendly. Most of the guests were couples in the 30 to 50 age range (including us) and we met some nice people. I do not consider this a party resort. It you want a relaxing vibe with good food, good drinks, comfortable room, friendly staff, both Dreams (with kids) and Breathless (no kids) may be a good choice for you. If you want a party resort "Cancun spring break style", a bachelorette party hotel for a group of 23 year old girls, a party resort for a group of single guys in their 20s, I would not recommend this resort unless you come in a large group and can do your own partying. For my next trip I might look for a resort that offers foam parties and more live music because these are things we enjoy and Breathless didn't offer during our stay. I understand they have a rock show but that's once a week. My last trip was to Riu Palace Las Americas in Cancun and while I really enjoyed Breathless I had more fun at Riu.

Hector brought us some delicious juice. Eliezer was to be our concierge since upgraded we were switched to Nathaniel. He did not make an effort to meet us the first day and denied us dinner reservations at Mediterranean. A waitress told us they had plenty of tables. Our room door lock was a broken. Enjoyed spa, steam room was broken. Level building 7 our room had sewer gnats. First two days room overlooked by house keeping. Eliezer texted on 3rd day, we let him know about house keeping. That afternoon it was cleaned. Eliezer was a great example of excellent customer service. Nathaniel for some reason upon our first meeting was only 3 minutes he was rude and annoyed. He did not make the effort, we would have tipped greatly and abundantly hundreds if he did. Enjoyed a bike tour with a fantastic guide. We did aromatherapy, Martina was excellent. Due of her good efforts and attitude we booked another spa. Tipped great tram drivers who were happy. In spa Alvaro was exellent, brought drinks and kept spa in order. On our last day we asked Nathaniel about bali bed and bikes. He didn't offer to set up for us instead told us to walk down an wait for staff on beach, waited about 10 minutes to find staff to assist. Dined at Hokkaido our chef was entertaining, helped make my order without food allergies we tipped him. Our concierge never made an effort to meet us on our first day and denied us dinner reservations at the restaurant we wanted. He was very rude to us our entire stay. Each time we saw him and said Hola he gave us dirty looks and never responded back. He never came to us in person nor texted each day to see what we needed. He only texted to activity schedule which we already had on the Melia app. Completely horrible customer service which is sad as we would have tipped him hundreds of dollars if he made an effort. He did not offer us any help nor excursion options, did not schedule spa for us only stated he left a message for the spa with my scheduling question, the only dinner reservation we asked him for he forgot. We waited a bit over an hour and heard nothing so we walked to the spa. They were not busy at all and I had asked if we could move our appointment to the next day. They happily changed it. Not sure why our concierge was unable to do so for us. That afternoon Eliezer met us on the beach. He was personable, made an extra effort, and laughed with us. He mentioned a membership opportunity. We agreed and he offered a romantic dinner on the beach. We heard out the meeting with Alejandro to join the Melia membership it would have cost $2,700. Not bad price at all however, at that point we were there for 3 days already spent $2,800 on all the horrible customer service experiences with Nathaniel. IF our experience had been nicer then we would have purchased the Melia membership and been back yearly. Our room had a bunch of sewer gnats which was gross, a broken door lock, and the only room door without a peep hole. Our second night in the room we were laying in bed and at 9pm a lady tried to open our door multiple times and scared us. She didn't say anything and we could not see her as no peep hole in the door to see if she was housekeeping or not. I texted Nathaniel as we were not feeling safe then and he said could be housekeeping he will just check in the morning. Not the response we hoped for, shouldn't a concierge offer to find out what's wrong if a guest is not feeling safe. Instead I called the front desk to ask and the offered to call housekeeping right then to find out. Nathaniel never followed up about it the next morning. Again why did we pay an extra $1,000 and not get the assistance we paid for?? We went to both customer service desks to review and see what could be done. At Level all they did was call Nathaniel to come talk to us. We headed to our "private" on the beach dinner at Serindipia restaurant. It was not it was on the restaurant with the only difference was our chairs had a flower sash on it. My fiance doesn't drink wine so we opted for moscow mules and asked for titos. We wanted to pay upgrade for them, instead we were brought absolute vodka drinks. Pedro was our waiter who was also the manager. He asked any allergies and I let him know them. Was very disappointed in my salad that consisted of very watering lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado whch was missing limes for the dressing I had asked for. My fiances cesar salad was canned chicken and the dressing was mayo misxed with garlic not cesar. I was sad Pedro couldn't provide replacement food items for me with an onion and garlic allegery, I asked maybe a plain avacado but he said no and I just watched my fiance eat some of his odd Cesar salad and pumpkin soup in front of me lol. Do not get the level upgrade, it's not worth it.

The people here are so accommodating; they have 3 restaurants on the property and they are all equally good. from formal to casual you can't go wrong eating at any of them. i'm a marriott member and had some points that i used for one night and im happy i took advantage of it. unfortunately they are converting the property to a 4 seasons and it will be far more expensive to stay here. The st. regis operates like a luxury hotel should. i would give it 10 stars if i could. i used the spa facilities and the massages we got were first notch. and jesselyn was a great nature guide that took us around the property. we are sad to be leaving.

My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!

Avoid the Seaside grill at night at all costs, unless you have a ton of bug spray. I was eaten alive there, and one of my mosquito bites got infected and I had to go to the emergency room. There is a 24 hour hotel clinic and the doctor there correctly diagnosed the issue, but because its just a clinic you have to go to the ER for further evaluation and treatment. Anyways, don't go to seaside grill at night unless you are covered in deet. Room service was inconsistent, there were times where all the pillows were missing from 1 bed but were put onto the other. They also took away the water bottle i was using to brush my teeth with and never replenished it. The activities were pretty good and consistent, only some got cancelled. My group's least favorite restaurant was Tres Colores the mexican one. I had to search pretty hard for authentic dominican food in the lunch buffet but it exists. I wish they kept all the dominican food in the same section. And lastly, a tip. Always bring a sweater when you plan to be indoors. They blast the AC where you will be freezing

This Resort is the first one that was built off the island of Jamaica, where Sandals first began. It has an older vibe to it. Very easy to get around and get your bearings of where everything is. You also have a resort map to help guide you. In some things we were a bit disappointed, but overall we really had a great time. I would recommend you make your reservations to the Dinner Restaurants when you first get there. The early times fill up fast. You know when you are on vacation the time goes by faster than usual. The swim up bars are great place to talk with other vacationers. Everyone is having fun. If you are heading for the beach, make sure you get there early to get the beach cots. It can be challenging to find one as the day goes on. The beach towel stations run out of towels rather quickly, the supply chain is slow replenishing the stations. I would suggest, at the pools grab a few towels from there. It may save you a walk from station to station looking for towels. They have lots of activities every day. The evening has special themes like "White Night " you wear your white Linen clothes, Reggie Night, etc. Live bands play every night somewhere on the property. Your daily resort schedule will tell you where. Oh yes dress, no matter where you go reservations or not, flip flops are the standard foot wear. I brought a few other pair of shoes that I never wore. Oh yes it is only a 10 or 15 minute bus ride to Grande Antigua from the airport. Sandals provided transportation to and from the airport. No tipping at the resort, but I did tip the driver to and from the airport.

Pros: - The setting is undeniably beautiful. The beaches are stunning, and the resort grounds are well-maintained. - We appreciated the convenience of unlimited food and drinks. - The inclusion of Robert Mondavi wines ensured a consistent baseline of wine quality, which we enjoyed. Cons: - The level of service and staff attitude was noticeably below what we've experienced at other Sandals locations. Many team members seemed disinterested, disengaged, and at times cold--lacking the warmth and hospitality we have associated with the Sandals brand. This was especially evident at check-out, where no one asked how our stay was nor offered a simple thank you. - The number of solicitations we encountered was excessive and disruptive. On one occasion, we were approached five times in two hours--making it very difficult to relax quietly or enjoy reading without interruption. These included both Sandals-affiliated promotions and third-party vendors. - The food overall was average, which was a disappointment given the typically exceptional culinary experiences we've had at other Sandals resorts. Most pastries tasted mass-produced, croissants resembled those from a grocery store value pack, and drinks were heavily watered down with ice. - A few bright spots in dining included Soy, Eleanor's, and Kimonos. In particular, Chef Ronello and server Chad at Kimonos created a memorable and special hibachi dinner for our anniversary after a group no-show left us with a private experience. Their warmth and attentiveness stood out as highlights of our trip. - The breakfast quality was consistently poor. Omelets were made using bare hands to grab ingredients, which raised hygiene concerns. French toast and eggs were cold every day. - Internet access was frustrating throughout the stay. Frequent disconnects, weak signals (especially in-room), and download speeds of only 1-2 Mbps are unacceptable, particularly at a resort of this caliber. We chose not to pay for the "premium" internet, though advertised speeds were still below modern expectations. In 2025, even economy hotel chains offer faster, more reliable WiFi. Frankly, airplane WiFi outperformed what we experienced at Sandals Antigua. We strongly believe that premium-level connectivity should be included in the standard offering, especially at the price point of this resort. Closing Remarks: While the location and a few exceptional staff members helped create some positive memories, the overall experience at Sandals Antigua did not meet the standards we associate with the Sandals brand. We contacted Sandals directly with our feedback and they responded with offered compensation in terms of points. However, we were surprised to receive a legal document in connection with this offer to release us from future reviews. We felt this formality was unnecessary, particularly as our intention was never been to escalate matters beyond constructive feedback. After careful consideration--and with great reluctance--we chose not to book a future Sandals trip during our stay, something we've always done in the past. This decision was not made lightly, but based on the decline in service quality and overall value, we did not feel confident committing to another visit at this time. Also, we found it highly unethical that Sandals Antigua would attempt to offer compensation -- in the form of points -- seemingly in exchange for our silence or retraction of an honest, unsatisfactory review (or future reviews). This behavior constituted as a form of bribery and only further reinforced the disappointing experience we had with the resort. I urge Sandals to reevaluate its approach to customer feedback and adopt a more ethical and respectful standard for resolving complaints.

I have to start by extending a sincere thanks to my mother-in-law, who booked rooms for our extended family during New Years '24-'25. My wife and I had been to Boquerón once as part of an island roundtripper in 2018, so it was great to revisit the area with my young children. Aquarius Vacation Club sits along the southwestern edge of the island in the Cabo Rojo municipality. We stayed a total of 2 nights and the accommodations were better than expected. Beds were comfy, solid hot water pressure in the shower, spacious rooms and living areas, well-maintained grounds. The resort lost power briefly during our stay, but a backup generator helped keep the lights on...temporarily. Their open-air restaurant, Piscis Café & bar, was very affordable. All 11 adults came here for breakfast each morning and enjoyed a variety of juices ($3.50) and coffees ($3) with our food. Most of us got the standard 2 eggs any style ($8) that came with choice of meat and hash browns. Simple but tasty. The pool area included a splash pad for younger kids and plenty of chaise lounge chairs for adults to lay on, although I wish they would've had more spots in the shade. They also had a game room with DDR, Cruisin' USA and a couple pinball tables, sadly the latter were broken :( why y'all gotta tease me like that? There's beachfront access to Playa Boqueron for those staying at the resort, and you can rent kayaks or jet skis not too far from here. The plaza was absolutely buzzing with activity at all hours of the day, but the numerous bars & restaurants really come alive at night--we even saw street karaoke! For me, the highlight of the visit (hell, the whole trip) was watching the year's final sunset with my wife on a jetty. The hues of orange and magenta swirling in the early evening sky were better than a painting, just two people in love watching the sun go down. *lets out a longing sigh* * TL;DR * I couldn't have asked for a more idyllic way to close out 2024. I felt relaxed, I got some much-needed rest, and I got to watch fireworks from our hotel balcony with the people I care most about. Never spending NYE in icy cold weather again! All kidding aside, everyone had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend Aquarius Vacation Club as a place for families to stay. Rates are roughly $125-$150 per night.
