3 weeks prior to upgrade to Level by 15 emails 10 calls with no help. Upon arrival to celebrate pur engagement we were greeted from Eliezer Sanchez. Hector brought us some delicious juice. Eliezer was to be our concierge since upgraded we were switched to Nathaniel. He did not make an effort to meet us the first day and denied us dinner reservations at Mediterranean. A waitress told us they had plenty of tables. Our room door lock was a broken. Enjoyed spa, steam room was broken. Level building 7 our room had sewer gnats. First two days room overlooked by house keeping. Eliezer texted on 3rd day, we let him know about house keeping. That afternoon it was cleaned. Eliezer was a great example of excellent customer service. Nathaniel for some reason upon our first meeting was only 3 minutes he was rude and annoyed. He did not make the effort, we would have tipped greatly and abundantly hundreds if he did. Enjoyed a bike tour with a fantastic guide. We did aromatherapy, Martina was excellent. Due of her good efforts and attitude we booked another spa. Tipped great tram drivers who were happy. In spa Alvaro was exellent, brought drinks and kept spa in order. On our last day we asked Nathaniel about bali bed and bikes. He didn't offer to set up for us instead told us to walk down an wait for staff on beach, waited about 10 minutes to find staff to assist. Dined at Hokkaido our chef was entertaining, helped make my order without food allergies we tipped him. Our concierge never made an effort to meet us on our first day and denied us dinner reservations at the restaurant we wanted. He was very rude to us our entire stay. Each time we saw him and said Hola he gave us dirty looks and never responded back. He never came to us in person nor texted each day to see what we needed. He only texted to activity schedule which we already had on the Melia app. Completely horrible customer service which is sad as we would have tipped him hundreds of dollars if he made an effort. He did not offer us any help nor excursion options, did not schedule spa for us only stated he left a message for the spa with my scheduling question, the only dinner reservation we asked him for he forgot. We waited a bit over an hour and heard nothing so we walked to the spa. They were not busy at all and I had asked if we could move our appointment to the next day. They happily changed it. Not sure why our concierge was unable to do so for us. That afternoon Eliezer met us on the beach. He was personable, made an extra effort, and laughed with us. He mentioned a membership opportunity. We agreed and he offered a romantic dinner on the beach. We heard out the meeting with Alejandro to join the Melia membership it would have cost $2,700. Not bad price at all however, at that point we were there for 3 days already spent $2,800 on all the horrible customer service experiences with Nathaniel. IF our experience had been nicer then we would have purchased the Melia membership and been back yearly. Our room had a bunch of sewer gnats which was gross, a broken door lock, and the only room door without a peep hole. Our second night in the room we were laying in bed and at 9pm a lady tried to open our door multiple times and scared us. She didn't say anything and we could not see her as no peep hole in the door to see if she was housekeeping or not. I texted Nathaniel as we were not feeling safe then and he said could be housekeeping he will just check in the morning. Not the response we hoped for, shouldn't a concierge offer to find out what's wrong if a guest is not feeling safe. Instead I called the front desk to ask and the offered to call housekeeping right then to find out. Nathaniel never followed up about it the next morning. Again why did we pay an extra $1,000 and not get the assistance we paid for?? We went to both customer service desks to review and see what could be done. At Level all they did was call Nathaniel to come talk to us. We headed to our "private" on the beach dinner at Serindipia restaurant. It was not it was on the restaurant with the only difference was our chairs had a flower sash on it. My fiance doesn't drink wine so we opted for moscow mules and asked for titos. We wanted to pay upgrade for them, instead we were brought absolute vodka drinks. Pedro was our waiter who was also the manager. He asked any allergies and I let him know them. Was very disappointed in my salad that consisted of very watering lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado whch was missing limes for the dressing I had asked for. My fiances cesar salad was canned chicken and the dressing was mayo misxed with garlic not cesar. I was sad Pedro couldn't provide replacement food items for me with an onion and garlic allegery, I asked maybe a plain avacado but he said no and I just watched my fiance eat some of his odd Cesar salad and pumpkin soup in front of me lol. Stayed here from Tuesday through Sunday. Very nicely done resort grounds and solid property. Food was quite good. A couple of the dinner restaurants had some great dishes like the steak and jerk chicken at Calathea, & the zucchini soup at mar de sal. Overall, most of the time food was pretty good and exceeds expectations for an all inclusive. Solid morning yoga classes. Light on other activities - wish there were a few more things to learn something new or perhaps create something, like a craft or cocktail making type of thing. Some of the restaurants servers were great. However the general level of service was really disappointing... Here are some examples where the service felt so inadequate and underwhelming for a $500/ night Melia branded resort... - when we needed pool towels we were informed they were out. Not a lot of willingness to help or grab new ones. - trying to call concierge or reception multiple times, no one answered. Calls to the operator would get transferred and then ring endlessly. Kind of ridiculous that you can't reach help whether it's 9 am , 2 pm, or 10 pm... - minibar snack and drink replenishment was very inconsistent - some days forgetting to restock water, other days not restocking the light snacks - I guess again for this price I might have expected some drink service if you're lounging by the pool but no one ever came by - Dinner reservations are full days in advance- virtually not possible to get a reservation unless you're 2+ days out - as I was leaving the room once, the mini bar attendant asked what I needed and I told him and then he proceeded to not replenish any of the things I'd asked for Additionally for this level or resort and price tag, the liquor included was really cheap/bad/low quality. Since this was our biggest surprise and something we wished was in bold letters before we booked this resort, SMOKING IS ALLOWED AND RAMPANT HERE. If you are a smoker, this is the resort for you as smoking is welcomed everywhere on the grounds. But if you are a non-smoker and do not want to be anywhere near second-hand smoke, STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT!!! I repeat: NON-SMOKERS, STAY AWAY!!! With that out of the way, let's go into the positives of our early Aug 2024 stay: The grounds were beautiful and mostly well-kept. As animal lovers, we welcomed visits by peacocks, ducks, and even a resort cat. The alcohol and coffee bars adjacent to the lobby were both amazing. Most of the staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating (the first few days were a bit touch-and-go, but the rest of the week was pretty decent). Sadly the downsides outweighed those positives. For a smaller resort, everything was far too spread out from each other. The food options were very limited and mostly mediocre (some other guests we spoke to during and after our stay resorted to purchasing food from nearby restaurants). The beach was unkempt and overrun with seaweed, making it an unappealing option. The pool experience (along with the rest of the grounds) were ruined by tobacco smokers EVERYWHERE (we tried to escape them, but that attempt was futile). Locating beach/pool towels was not clearly marked and was a lot tougher than it needed to be. Housekeeping was lacking... one day we had to call after 3pm for service. We also had to call two days for hot water to be turned on. About three days we had to call for clean towels and washcloths (and one of those days we had to call around 4pm and keep calling every hour or so until we FINALLY got them around 8pm). Usually we research resorts well prior to going, but because we had such an amazing experience two years ago at the Melia Paradisus, we assumed that would be the normal experience throughout each Melia location. How wrong we were. And for something billed as a "Health and Wellness retreat," it boggles the mind that smoking would be allowed. P.S. This review is for the Meliá Punta Cana Beach Level resort. Meliá has three resorts on the same property... The Paradisus and two Level ones that we've been told have changed names often. I rarely give bad reviews but for this one I have to. This review in only for "THE LEVEL" portion of the resort which I had to pay a lot more for. Meliá Caribe beach resort markets "THE LEVEL" as this service that will facilitate everything for you. I'm usually not into these kinds of services but I had to take it since the room type I wanted only comes as the level. When we got in, it was confusing on where to go because there is very little information given but we finally found the level lounge. There was confusion about our room as they gave us a smaller room at first because we needed two beds but we chose our initial room that we paid for. The "personal concierge" that was promised over and over, did not even come to greet us AT ALL during check-in. They said Lorenzo was "busy". He did not contact us AT ALL until I personally went back the next day at lunch to the lounge and asked for his number. We were not given the towel cards so I had to go get them from the lobby. After I contacted him, I asked him to do some reservations and heard very little of him until 6 pm literally 1 hour before dinner and at that time he told us that he has reservations for us at Cape Nao. This is when he finally came over to meet us. I then asked him to do reservations for all the other restaurants especially Alma. We are staying a week so I asked for that restaurant a week in advance. He did not make any reservations until I sent him multiple messages over a couple of days. He still didn't do any reservations at Alma. You would think that making online reservations should be so simple but it wasn't! He then told me that he will be on vacation for 3 days and that I have to contact someone else to see who will be assigned to me now. Jose was the same! The first thing I asked is to make a reservation at Alma the last day before we go. He still didn't do any reservations. Today is my last day and it's my son's birthday and I contacted them again and they told me that the restaurants are closed and there is no reservations at Alma! That LEVEL service is totally useless. I did all the reservations i wanted myself like I always do and they facilitated nothing for me. Save your money! Now I will do a review for the rest. RESORT: the resort is nice. Has all the right amenities. Pools are large and the beach has plenty of space to sit at. The gym is nice and the spa is also pretty cool. SERVICE: the service at this place is very random. Sometimes you get good service but for the most part, the service is very poor. You can tell that they don't want to work there. I also noticed that depending on your color, they treat you differently. If you are white they treat you much better. They thought we were Dominicans and they treated us pretty bad. More than 50% of the time, the little buggies would not take us to our room since the resort is quite large. We would find them a minute later passing us with other people. They choose who to serve which is quite insulting especially that we paid for that service. Most of the time, they would not listen to what you say. At the spa, they totally messed our massage service and they gave us walked our massages! FOOD: food is very poor here. Even the level restaurants are quite bland. Some menu items at Capri were good. Hacienda was also good. The rest and especially the buffets were horrible with no flavor. The food is mostly dry and cold. ROOM: our room was nice. The bed was very comfortable and the jacuzzi is also nice. They are a little outdated but they are comfortable. Our room was near the beach so it was near the pool and restaurants and gym which is very convenient. Overall, I think the resort was ok. The service definitely needs to improve because we're going on vacation and we're not going to deal with personal issues for workers. read more

First thing I'll address is people saying that the staff need to learn to speak better English. This is not an English speaking country, can you imagine a tourist coming to the US demanding that all staff speak Spanish/French/Italian? No... just no. Still and yet, dang near everyone spoke enough English to effectively communicate with us. We learned enough Spanish to try a few phrases and probably get it mostly wrong. We enjoyed our stay overall. Service was good and staff were friendly - when we looked like we didn't know where we going, because we often didn't, we offered rides in carts. The train, while cute to look at, was not always user friendly. We preferred to walk. Which brings us to the grounds. They are lovely but truly are a bit of a giant maze. The biggest annoyance for us was that we were in the level, adults only, yet there were constantly people bringing kids into the adult sections and staff didn't say anything. First and last time, since the first day of our check in the following issues: Our room was filthy, full of dust and dirty floors. Bath had spiders and hair inside and some sort of debris. Kitchen sink is disgusting Shower is rusty AC leaking Room smells musty/sewer Horrible pull out bed half broke. Power outage in kitchen Every day concierge calls in the morning to ask how everything is going, I let them know know the issues listed above, and they do nothing about it! I asked them to stop calling me if they aren't going to do anything about it. Oh and they call at 10 pm as a courtesy call, ridiculous . They woke up my kids. Workers aren't friendly at all. The only place I can say is good is the splash island/kids club. Sweet ladies working there. The rest is horrible, don't get me started on the food. Disgusting, they serve food they would in jail. We planned a marriage getaway and really enjoyed ourselves at this all inclusive resort in Punta Cana. The Level is part of Melia Caribe resort and we took advantage of the all adult location. What's an all Inclusive? You pay one price for room accommodations, food, restaurants, and all you can drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). You can even take advantage of the little refrigerator items in your room and not worry about getting charged extra. From what I remember, there are about 12 restaurants on this resort and room service to take advantage of. Since we paid for the ADULT all inclusive, we were able to take advantage of the family restaurants, in addition to the restaurants on the adult side of the resort. There is a difference of menu items! The service we experienced was amazing and very friendly. There were challenges with the language barrier but we were able to overcome and still receive great service. Room service took about 25 minutes for each time to deliver our food. Extra towel requests were taken just as long. Our room cleaning was serviced every day! You will need to either call or leave the notice on your door to prompt them. We literally didn't need to leave the resort for anything, this place is huge! I think there are about 3 resort locations all in one! The biggest challenge was deciding where to eat each night! The Italian restaurant and the Dominican restaurant was our favorite. I was extremely disappointed with the Mexican restaurant. For some reason food was lacking flavor here and portions were extremely small. Another big challenge was getting around the resort. Because the property was so big, everyone heavily relies on the golf cart transportation to get around. It would be a great help for staff and visitors to show times of arrival at each transport pick up/drop off location and having a bigger map available in each room with a listing of times and locations. One of the worst all inclusive hotel I ever stayed in. Check in took 45 minutes. Only one person worked there. The room key got deactivated every day. 90% of staffs speak zero English. And not to mention they are so rude. There were never more than 2 people working at the check in desk and they take forever. You get to go to the buffet but need WhatsApp to go text to make reservations for a few other restaurants that they have. It took them hours to respond. And they couldn't even accommodate to have our group done together on same evening. Bartenders are super cheap. When asked For water, they poured into a cup instead of give the whole bottle. You pay a little more to be on the "Level" side and they watched you as a hawk if you have a regular room but happens to sit in a level section, they will kick you out. Zero English. Very bad service. Pool super dirty. I saw hair everywhere. Paints peeled off in the pool. They give you 2 keys for towels at check in and you can't get more than 2 towels. But towels station closes at 6 pm every day and you can't get your key back and they give you hard time to get towels next day. Stay away from this hotel. Worse vacation ever!!!! read more

This is such a gorgeous place. I'm really happy me and my husband traveled here for vacation. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. This is the most relaxation I have had in a long time. The rooms are beautiful. The temperature is great, I have a pool outside outside my room. Great view, all you an eat and drink. What more can you ask for. When we arrived all we had to do was check in and they brought our bags to our room. There was live entertainment the first night, music and fashion show. I was originally staying at Melia Caribe and after making a complaint Wilbert Santos the property manager upgraded our stay at Level. It was a huge difference for me because it had wayyy better food and premium alcohol. Our room had a big hot tub and the room was more spacious. The pools at level were well maintained and the service was awesome. The beach area had plenty of chairs with covers for the sun. They offer some amazing excursions that are priced well. We ended up going to Saona Island (well worth it) includes alcohol and food for $90. I would definitely come back to Level it was the upgrade I needed. We spent per person with flight about $650 not bad for 4 nights with food and alcohol. I would recommend cutting the middle man when you are booking with Melia so you can acquire points which you can use for spa treatments or a fancy restaurant at hotels near by. read more

Good place to stay at Punta Cana, located about 20-25 mins from airport and costs about 30$ one way. Pros about this place are the food and the room service. The buffet itself was pretty good though I stayed only for 2 nights. Didn't get to try the other options. Clean and nice beaches. Cons about this place: check in process is lengthy and stretched out and nobody really explained much about what's there. The rooms at the level are slightly far off from the main building which is good and bad. There are no deep soaking tubs in the rooms even though it says that all rooms have them. Room was slightly outdated and the fan didn't work. Overall good play to stay, although i wish I knew about some of the above things before coming. Overall 3 to 3.5 stars. read more

First & foremost, if you're trying to find a review to see if you should stay here or not - keep reading so I can convince you to not come here. & yes there are more good reviews than bad. I thought the same thing so I was like hey, let me give this place a chance. I regret this big time. Please read the below. THE SERVICE- I want to start out with how horrible and miserable the staff treats you here. The property is huge, so you need a golf cart to take you pretty much anywhere. Sometimes the wait time for a golf cart takes a while (20 minutes or so) so we took the option to walk a little bit until one drives up to us. They would pass us every-time unless we waved them down. I thought this was rude, if you see a guest walking in the hot sun, or in the dark night filled with mosquitoes, you should stop & see if they would like a lift. A lot of the times, staff would ignore us. They would see we would be a bit lost, or unsure of where to go & they wouldn't even help us. There was even an instance where we walked into a restaurant & two staff members were having a conversation & didn't even pause to greet us. Very rude. None of the staff here speaks unless spoken to. THE FOOD - disgusting. I am a Dominican American, my parents & grandparents both migrated from DR to the US in the early 60s. With that being said, I know what GREAT Dominican food is. This hotel, does not & it is such a shame. The mangu was practically liquid, & there was very minimal Dominican dishes available. How do you mess up your own countries meals? I don't know. & the other food they had was bulls**t. It was either cold or unflavorful. I felt like I was in jail, perhaps those who are in jail eat better than this. You're better offer Airbnbing & eating at restaurants in the area. Especially considering the restaurants inside the resort are always booked so you'll have to eat at the buffet which is terrible. THE DRINKS - okay okay, i can't trash talk this entire place. one thing I will admit is the drinks here are actually really good. Full of flavor & liquor (unlike some places) you will get drunk/tipsy. Jesus Hernandez & Roberto Chala were the only two employees in the whole facility that actually made us feel welcomed. They greeted us with smiles & warmth every single day. Recommend & prepared some of the best drinks & offered exceptional service. If it wasn't for these two, I would've canceled my reservation on the 2nd day & checked into the RIU a few hotels down. THE ROOM - the rooms here are actually beautiful, if you have no choice but to stay here. I recommend upgrading your room to not only pool, beach or ocean view but also try to get the level if you're financially able. I will say that our room had a very big leak & the TV didn't work, which was a bummer. THE SPA - honestly, the spa here is beautiful & our 50 minute couples massage hands down was one of the best massages I've ever gotten. One of the very few things worth our stay here. THE BEACH - reeks like seaweed, isn't even blue (from June-August) & isn't even pretty. There's miles upon miles of seaweed on the shoreline. The resort tries their best to contain it but seaweed still takes over the beach front. Save your money and go to Casa de Campo, the capital or even Puerto Plata. Overall, the only reason why we (my boyfriend & I) came here to begin with is because we stayed at a melia resort in cabo, Mexico & had such an amazing time. We were breathtaken by the quality of the food, the service & everything else in Cabo. We felt like kings & queens there. We thought, here at Melia Punta Cana that we would receive the same service, unfortunately this wasn't the case. Oh & to top it all off, we complained to the management how much we hated it here & Rafeal Collado (the manager) mentioned he had a special dinner set up for us with a surprise, & to call the front desk from our room around 5PM, so we did. & guess what? No answer. I called at least 7 times from the hotel room & a few other times from my actual personal phone. No answer. We informed management & they claimed we never showed up to the "surprise". How can we show up somewhere if you didn't tell us where to go? Please. We were told we will receive some points on behalf of our stay being so miserable. Let's see if they actually end up doing it. UPDATE: THEY DIDNT. Again, if you were looking for a reason as to why or why not you should stay here. Don't. If you absolutely want to come to Punta Cana, stay at the RIU. The Level at Meliá Caribe Beach is an Excellent Resort. We came here to celebrate my daughters birthday and she really doesn't like an all inclusive but we compromised and decided to try this resort. When we checked in we were assigned Eduard as our concierge, he was beyond excellent. He showed us around this huge resort in a golf cart. We also had a chance to ride on their choo choo train which was cute. There was an adult only side and a family side. There were a lot of restaurants with a variety of choices. We loved all of the places that we ate at but one of our favorite places was Rumba which was on the adults only side. All of the bars do not have premium drinks but they all have champagne for mimosas. The best bar was the casino bar they had premium drinks and house drinks. The room we had was huge with a nice size balcony and plenty of mirrors and amenities in the bathroom.The cleaning staff came twice a day, in the morning and at night to turn down the beds. We came here for our honeymoon and I highly recommend! I heard of this place because I had a coworker and a friend stay here and they loved it. It took about 2 hours to get there by flight and about 20-30 mins from the airport when we got there. We were treated so well. When you check in, you are served a drink and they tell you the main information when you stay. Our room was very nice. We stayed in the adult only area and that included the beach and pool area too. I highly recommend!! Our room was very nice. It was also filled with snacks and drinks. We had a whirlpool and you can request for them to draw you a bath. You are not required to tip but we tipped everyone and we were very well taken care of. All the restaurants were good. Drinks were good. I liked the Miami Vice and Dirty Monkey. You eat all the time here. The buffets are good and the snack bars are awesome! My favorite is the pasta bar and the nachos!! I fell asleep by the pool on their beds a few times. The beach is beautiful. I was taking it all in. The sand is white and the water is turquoise! We did daily activities like yoga and jewelry making. We did one excursion. We went to swim in a cave and shopped a little as well as going to one of the most beautiful beaches. I forgot what the beach was called but the excursion was pretty inexpensive. We stayed here for 6 nights and I didn't want it to end. I would definitely come back. The only thing that bothered me was some of the a**hole guests who didn't treat the workers there very well. I saw one woman yell at a guy at the pasta station because he didn't "speak a lot of english." Be nice to them! They will take care of you. 3/31/21 Although  I do not remember where I stayed at Punta Canna areas of The Level look familiar to me.  Many, many thing have changed around here since I was a kid in the 1980's. Coming to Punta Canna was quite the experience.  I was told by my mom before we went set foot in the airport, that there were things I was going to see that I would need to conduct myself appropriately to.  The biggest thing was seeing women toppless to practically nude in many parts of the beach.  I might see men in tiny bathing suits too.  It was a speech that needed to be said by my mom and I am glad she did.  It was amusing and nice to see the female body, but it was short lived as a culture shock or shock.  After a very short time the nudity/half nakedness goes away.  It is the closed I have been to a full out nudism...no I did not take pictures. One thing that did catch my eye, is the shipwreck  of The Astron (previously named Esmeralda and Bonnie) located off the coast of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic.  I believe back when I saw the ship, it was called the Esmeralda.  Whatever name it was actually called matters not. I wanted to swim up to this ship and explore it.   My mind did not know how dangerous that would be if I had tried that out on my own. I learned how sharp coral can be from personal experience.  It may be why I chickened out on actually going out to the shipwreck area and other places.       I don't know about now, but when I was there, you had to take a classes on snorkeling/scuba diving before you even get a chance to go into the ocean.   Archery was something I learned to do and loved it. I was certainly no Green Arrow or Nyssa Al Ghul or Carrie Hartnell Cutter, I think I did very well.  The pools were a lot of fun, but I had the misfortune of sitting in an area where water shot out of a hole. Many of the kids I was with enjoyed the water splashing up at us. To us kids that weren't carefuI  got a eye popping surprise. The surprise was water entering  you. If you didn't  make it to the bathroom on time you would be in a world of %$#@. To many men and women in the group I was with experienced this. A lot of people enjoyed eating coconuts, but I didn't.  I have no taste for its milk or meaty copra. There was a big celebration that would be held one day before my family were going to leave the island. This circus performance was practiced a week before my family I were leaving.  I had no plans to join the circus,  but I was personally selected by the committee who had seen my acrobatic during other shows. I had a lot of fun and was happy I was personally sort out by the committee.  Pictures were taken, but I have no idea where those photos are now. Punta Canna is one of the most enjoyable vacations I have been on. I am sure I have been here twice, but really only remember the first experience.  Oh well, the say you never forget your first time. We came here for our honeymoon thinking we would be treated like royalty. Turns out we were lower class compared to others. We stayed at the Level - Adults only which is beautiful, but seemed like we were staying in a regular hotel back home than what the pictures show. The resort is massive and there are golf carts and trains that move around the resort but I'll talk about this more later. When we arrived on Sunday, we weren't told exactly what was included. The receptionist spoke very quickly about where we were on the resort, how important it was to meet with our Amstar rep to schedule a shuttle back to the airport for the following week and about the general lobby area and next thing you know, we were whisked away to our room. The envelope that the receptionist showed us when we got to the lobby that was filled with information about our stay, was not the one we received from the bellhop who walked us to our room. The envelope we did get had a map, a listing of all the restaurants on the property and information about the Melia rewards club (which is extremely misleading). Nothing else about room service, shuttles, hours of clubs, nothing. We took advantage of the cuatro restaurant and lobby bar which was nice because they had the premium drinks there and the food was actually pretty good. The buffet is hot as hell and I can't imagine how the cooks can be in there. The staff is actually very very nice but a lot of them need to learn better English. We ate most of our meals in the tropical and caribe sections of the resort. The restaurants there were good for the most part. The Mexican restaurant was filled with so much smoke the night we were there that I had to leave because I couldn't breathe. My favorite was Gabi, which you have to make a reservation at but we weren't told that until we got to the restaurant. Thankfully, they were able to take us because they happened to have an available table. We came here under the assumption that because we were "honeymooners" we would get some sort of special on the spa and maybe a dinner on the beach. Our travel agent listed us as a honeymoon couple. Nothing of the sort. We're actually booking a couples massage at home because it's cheaper than what the spa offers. The spa prices aren't listed anywhere. We were told that a basic 80 minute was $130 after we asked the rep that walks along the beach everyday seeking people to book massages. The shuttles do not run as often as you would hope. We had heard prior to arriving and after arriving that all you had to do was say "I need a cart to the level" and one would show up for you and drop you off right at your walkway. On 2 separate occasions we waited over an hour for a shuttle to take us back to our room. Both those times we ended up walking back. Thankfully the walk isn't long but we were exhausted and not in the mood to walk back home. The adults only pool and pool bar are nice but every once in a while you would see kids in the pool. There's no one around to regulate who comes in and out of the area. The beach is the same. The level has an exclusive area but no one on staff is there to check who belongs there. The room was pretty nice. King size bed with small living room, small veranda with patio set and a place to dry off your clothes. The maids are very friendly and turn down service is included every night. We always had fresh towels whenever we needed them. We went to the lobby on Wednesday to finally say something and the receptionist gave us what seemed like an automated answer. "Staying in the level includes a bigger room, access to cuatro, access to the adults only pool, pool bar, beach and exclusive pool behind the cuatro restaurant, premium drinks, room service, champagne delivered to your room, mini bar, snacks in your room". Essentially that's it. We asked about discounts at the spa and were told "you get 10% off because you're in the level" We paid an extra $400 to live like a king and queen for a week and it didn't even come close to it. We could've paid the same thing at a different resort and got twice as much. We went to the casino one night which seemed to be the most popular place to be. The woman running the roulette table didn't seem to understand the match play ticket that was given to us by another employee because she took my husbands $10, the match play ticket and gave him a single $10 coin. Even he was confused at what had happened but the woman was adamant that she was right and we were wrong. My husband has been to Punta Cana 3 times prior to this and has never experienced anything like this. The trip to Melia has completely turned him away from returning to Punta Cana again. I'm really disappointed because his family in general has been to Punta Cana numerous times so I had high expectations of this trip but it ended up being one of the worst trips I've been on. We are definitely going to have to take another trip next year to make up for this crappy one. read more

It started out great. Nice place as far as lobby and rooms. Appetizers are good but the entrees at the restaurants are sub par and never come out at the same time. At least one person always waiting for their food. Drinks in the level are no different than the normal rooms. Not worth the money. Even met with the food and beverage manager and she promised she would have better rum at the bar just for us. Never happened. They only give you rail rum which is not good. Never heard of the brand. The bar said they are out. So many other places to go. If you still come, don't upgrade. The only benefit is getting a butler of which Juan is the best. read more

The service is excellent as the workers are very attentive. The food is delicious and varied from Dominican to French to the buffet. Overall, the cleanliness of the facilities was well maintained. If there's an area for improvement, transportation is sometimes spotty. read more

Stay far away from this place. Our ac didn't work, no power in half of our room, nothing worked in our room. It has nothing do with the Hurricane, it has to do with the resort sucks and the people, especially Oscar, are very rude and not helpful. Find a different place to stay!!! read more

Not sure how there are any positive reviews on this place. We have to do a 2nd honeymoon because this one was the worst 5 days we've ever had. The food was some of the worst cafeteria style food we've ever had. (And we are not food snobs) We did find one dish in the Thai restaurant that we both liked. Upon arrival, they took our bags and put us on a golf cart. The cart driver did not know where to take us so he dropped us off at the beach. Zero information was given. Then we finally asked around on where to go and made our way to the check in area for the Level. The individual checking us in "forgot about us" and we were waiting there for over 45 min. (You may notice this as a trend in other reviews, and we heard them give the same excuse to others on the next day.) This place is far from luxurious. Room service is limited. Oh..and mini bar??? We saw pictures with a variety of beverages and liquor, but we were disappointed to find only Coors light in the fridge. And they do not deliver any other alcoholic beverages to your room. You will wait over and hour for golf carts that are supposed to come pick you up to take you places, since the resort is a big maze. Spa prices are thru the roof. Pool area service is a joke. Everyone is out to get your money in tips. People there need to learn better English and customer service. No special treatment for honeymooners. The private shuttle we purchased didn't even show up to take us to the airport so we had to pay $30 for a taxi. The excursion guys will hustle you, but keep asking around for a cheaper price and you will find yourself paying 50% less than what the first guy told you. I can keep going on and on about how terrible this place is. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra few hundred bucks to stay at a Sandals resort (where they know luxury). The worst experience ever checking in took over 30 mins to be attended. Food is very important for me when is comes to a great vacation, and although this resort has over 7 restaurants to choose from this by far has been the worst food I've ever had at a resort. My husband and I went here for our honeymoon back in May. We couldn't ask for a better place to have gone!!! We loved everything about this place. The views, the beach, the pool, the food, the room and the amazing people who work here are what make this place amazing. We want to go back as soon as we can. Having spent a week at this Melia resort in the adults only level section, I can honestly say it met every need. The food isn't the best but once we learned how to pick and choose off the menus, it was fine. The level food is better overall as compared to the non level places,BUT it's nice to have the option of trying them all. The service is top notch with a staff member assigned to us to see to our needs. The private beach with cocktails served and chairs setup for us was amazing. Our favorite spot was the three story level building. It has a very nice level only, adult restaurant on the first floor, the second floor has 24 hour concierge services, a self serve bar and snacks. The top holds a lovely roof top bar, which is outstanding or watching the sun set while sipping on a before dinner drink. I'll be back for the service which was friendly and consistent throughout our entire stay... the rest of the resort is pristine, quiet and beautiful. A great relaxing vacation. read more

I've been to three Melia resorts . This has to be the worse . Our rooms weren't ready when we checked in at 4:30 and they gave us rooms that weren't what we paid for and weren't together. The power kept Turing off with thier iron and blow dryer . And everything is so far away that you have to take a cart to get to it . And I had level and still waited over 25 mins for a ride . The food isn't great . If ur single , planning a girls trip or boys trip this time the resort for you . read more

This is our second time here. It's been 10 years and so much has improved and been expanded. The Level is the upgraded Royal Service of old. They cater to you in every way and the apartments are beautiful. We have 14 and 12 year old son and daughter. We have the 1 king bedroom, full kitchen and true queen or king size sofa memory foam sleeper couch. It is perfect for 2 adults even. Perfect accommodations. So many restaurants to choose from. The food is good, not great, but really good. The reason I say this is because I am spoiled living in NYC. We have the best of the best authentic restaurants everywhere. I wish they had Dim Sum here. Awesome people, concierge, drivers all over the property and will take you everywhere. Never have to leave the resort. Everything is perfectly clean and BIG BIG BIG PROPERTY. read more

Not impressed At All.... stayed at The Level (Adults Only) and arrived in the early evening when it was dark out and the gentleman proceeded to show me where places were. I cannot see anything in the dark. Asked if I could be shown around the next morning and was advised to go to the check in area. Arrived next morning around 9am and was told no one was available and to use the map. Tried sitting at the beach area, but the stench of the algae was overwhelming so went to sit by the pool. The pool was very nice but the cocktail service was Non Existent unless you were a young busty girl sitting with other girls. Tried going to the steakhouse restaurant at 9:30 pm and was passed around to 2 hostesses only to be told it would be 20 minute wait. She seemed relieved when I said Never Mind. My room was very nice and the housekeeping service was excellent. Probably won't come back again. read more
