I've been seeing Dr. Khaira for a little over a year for his weight loss program. While it is a bit…read morepricey, it is definitely effective. However, I've had the doctor cancel multiple appointments on me. While life does happen, when you're dealing with medication that can cause adverse side effects it's really frustrating to then not be able to get in touch with the doctor for days at a time to either reschedule or refill. He will only see weight loss patients on certain days as well. This last time, I called on Wednesday ( over a week after the office cancelled my appointment) and Ella told me she would not message the doctor about my medication but would message his scheduling assistant to reschedule. She seemed incredibly annoyed that I couldn't rearrange my entire work day with 3 hours notice to drive to the office to wait at least 20 minutes to see the doctor...so then she would get back to me. I call Thursday, and she said she left a message with the scheduling assistant and she will NOW get a message to the doctor's medical assistant about my medication...something she couldn't have done the day before apparently? Friday comes and she calls again to say she's putting a message in, which is what she said the day before. Now it's Monday, and I haven't even been called back after calling twice and leaving a message. I've run out of my medication, and so will start to experience negative side effects. The doctor knows all this, but apparently it's more important to gate-keep who gets their messages to the doctor and who gets their medications refilled and who doesn't. I'm shocked any receptionist is allowed such power. Especially when combined with the cost of visits and medication, since no insurance is accepted, I would highly recommend not using Marina Village Medicine for your weight loss journey. This is the fourth time Ella has prevented/tried to prevent me from getting a message to the doctor, which is an absolutely insane business model for a paying patient. The actual women at the office are lovely and very helpful, but it is near impossible to reach them during business hours the majority of the time.

I want to give a shout-out to Geraldine, one of the receptionists! I have had nothing but pleasant…read moreexperiences with her and she is always so quick and efficient with my requests. I've had very good experiences with Dr. Khaira as well, I know they're all very busy, but they manage to get back to your questions (if you call) within a day or two. The patient portal messages take a lot longer to get a response.

In addition, I love their alliance with Stanford Health. Stanford has many locations with high tech equipment for all sorts of specialties. I have always received competent and helpful assistance when scheduling an appointment and have always been cheerfully met at the reception desk. Best if all is my Physician, Dr. John Carper. I have been with him for over 30 years. He is on-time, thorough, patient and a great listener. I am never rushed with him. In addition, I appreciate the detailed discussions about lab followups and his expert advice. My last visit, I was actually taken to the exam room 10 minutes early! With Alameda Family Physicians and Stanford, my health is closely tracked and well documented. I feel like everything is being done to monitor changes in health due to age and corrective actions are being made to keep my body in check. In my opinion, Alameda Family Physicians is stellar with preventative care!

She indignantly told me HOW DARE I EXPECT TO BEE SEEN and sent me away. HEY JERK! How about all those times I had to wait way beyond that for YOU?!! How about the time you told me my doctor had' retired' when, in fact, she left and started her own practice? You then gave me a new doctor who went out on Maternity leave and no one could see me? I have been coming here since my late doctor started this practice 20 years ago. Once they were affiliated with Stanford, they went downhill. I will look for a new doctor.

It's been convenient not having to come into the City as Dr. Kong is located at the Centre West Medical Building at Alameda South Shore next to the Office Max. Also, ample free parking is right in front of the building. I appreciate that appointments are readily available as I have gotten into this schedule within a week during both of my visits. Dr. Kong is nice and mixes in some humor during the consultation. He is on top of making sure your vaccines are up to date and suggests when to take certain ones due their possible physical reactions. He follows up on necessary tests if I am tardy on it, such as colonoscopies. He referred me to an orthopedic surgeon to check on shoulder if there was an internal issue. Janet and Cheryl at the front desk have been friendly and helpful as well. Glad to have made Dr. Kong my primary doctor and hope to have him caring for me for the coming years.

Hands down the worst, most hectic, disrespectful, and unprofessional experience I have ever had…read morewith a doctor. I am not exaggerating. I rarely if ever leave bad reviews, but this one was very serious for me. I called Dr Fredian twice to try to book an appointment. She blew me off and sent me to her online patient portal, which did not work. I called to explain that the online system did not work, and she told me to email her. She still would not just take a single moment to make me an appointment herself. I then followed her instructions and emailed her to try to set up an appointment, and she never responded. So I emailed one more time. By the 4th time I reached out, I asked her to please really take me seriously because I was experiencing symptoms that gave me some small discomforts and concern, and I truly felt I needed a doctor, but not an ER. Her response was to call my voicemail and yell at me in my voicemail to just go to Urgent Care and tell me that my email asking for her to please take me seriously was "inappropriate." When I called back and tried to explain that I was not in need of urgent care, but just in need of a regular doctor's appointment, and that urgent care would not be helpful since I did not even have a regular doctor that I could list as my primary doctor, nor had I even seen a doctor at all for a basic visit, she told me that my phone call was "wasting valuable time" she could be spending with her patients. I was pretty shocked to hear that, but tried one more time to explain that I just really wanted to become one of those "valuable patients." I guess I'm only "valuable" if I am already paying into her pocket? When I tried to explain that all I was trying to do was become a patient because she had come well-recommended, and that I was finding it frustrating to try to access her services using the online modality, she hung up on me. What kind of doctor blows off and hangs up on a sick person who is just trying to get an appointment?
