In 2018 during a routine eye exam for glasses I was informed that I had glaucoma. I had heard the…read moreterm but really didn't know anything about it. Well I was in need of another pair of glasses so I made the appointment and was told that I had glaucoma. I told the Dr. that I had already been treated for it so there must have been a mistake. When I left I was angry that I had been led to believe that the glaucoma had been taken care of two years prior. I had started to have difficulty seeing and that is one of the reason I made an apt for new glasses. I immediately called Florida Eye Specialists and explained that I had laser surgery performed by Dr. Luxenberg in 2018 for glaucoma and was now being told that I still had it. They scheduled an appointment for me to come in and I told them that I would not pay for the office visit which my co-pay is quite expensive . I had to leave work to go for this appointment and the first thing that happened was they tell me my insurance wasn't accepted there. Okay, I thought it was the same insurance I used in 2018 however; it shouldn't matter since I thought they understood that I wasn't going to pay the co-pay for an evaluation. The front desk person went to get the Doctor who proceeded to tell me that glaucoma is not curable only treatable and that he would never tell a patient that it was curable but would have to be treated probably for life. I explained that after my treatment he had me coming back for follow-ups and each time he said that I was healing nicely. After the third follow-up and being told that everything was good I stopped the follow-ups. Not once did he ever tell me that I would have to continue to come in for check-ups since this is a non-curable disease. He never had me sign any papers acknowledging the seriousness of this and the follow-up care would be probably life long. He stated once again that it wasn't curable for which I told him that being the doctor he should have told me not expect for me to know. I also explained that I had been having problems with my vision and was concerned that I could lose my eyesight and felt fortunate that I hadn't up to this point. He finally said that it was to bad that they didn't take my insurance or he would take a look at me. He was more concerned with getting paid then trying to reassure or help a patient. He finally said that he would see me and that it was a 300.00 value between his services and that of the front desk. I felt like I was on a game show. I told him that it would be no good to see him since it wouldn't accomplish anything. As I turned to leave I heard the woman at the front desk yell have a great day in that sarcastic tone. So if you want to go to a Dr. that cares more about money than the care of his patient or that would barter his services or allow his staff to make sarcastic remarks then he is the doctor for you. He is just lucky that I didn't lose my eyesight or I would be consulting an attorney. I still might given the fact that I have been having trouble with my eyesight and what I have already lost can' be recovered.

I highly recommend anyone with eye issues to come here. I started coming here when I lived in…read moreTarpon Springs because appointments were easy to make and it was close to where I live. I have since moved to the Carrollwood area but because of the treatment I got here, I will always make the drive up. The first thing I really appreciated was the early morning appointments ( They start at 7:30). I was battling a major eye infection and these appointment times helped me work around my work schedule quite easily. The staff is very friendly and accommodating . Wait times are kept to a minimum and it's a very easy process to check in as well as check out after your appointment is done. The best part is Dr. Kolodner himself. He's very professional and is not afraid to tell you the truth about various eye conditions ( I'll never wear my contacts for too long again that's for sure!). He's also extremely helpful in determining treatment plans while not destroying your wallet if at all possible . Although I hope my eye issues go away, I'm glad I have a place to go to where I feel I'm getting the best possible eye care.

My insurance paid for…read morehalf and I the other, and that is still double of what I paid for my Coach glasses and an exam at my last place. The eye exam was okay and a bit stiff. The lady who helped me pick out my glasses was the best part of the whole experience. She was very professional and personable. The glasses selection is small and limited. Overall, I wasn't impressed and the up-charges soured the experience for me. I won't be returning.

I walked in - smiled and asked about the doctor - The lady up front - never once looked up at me. I asked 3 THREE times as to the cost of seeing the doctor - she refused to answer except that it was covered by medicare - I still wanted to know the cost - as I'd been to a doctor this year and didn't know if they covered more than one visit. She finally responded - and then stilll never having eye contact with me - I asked when I could get in to see the doctor - after another moment of NOT looking me in the EYES - I turned and left - THEN she looked up from what she was doing. How rude - how suprising - how disappointing - I'm sad to never have even met Dr. Laura Muller. Please train your staff to show some manners and kindness - shocked at how rude - I find Tampa to be so gentile / NOT Dr. Muller's front office staff!
