I bought a Subaru Outback in February 2025 with a used car warranty from a dealership in PA. In…read moreMarch 2025 the transmission quit working. After calling a dozen or so places, I found two garages that would entertain the idea of working with a warranty company, and Helbig's was the only one to call back within a 24 hour timeframe. From the beginning, Fred laid out how the process works, what could go wrong, what should happen, what extra costs I might have, and the best way to go about repairing it. My Subaru had a CVT and it was a 2016 Outback with a 3.6 liter engine instead of the standard 2.5, and it was impossible to find a used replacement anywhere in the US. Honest. I looked too. Fred talked to his Subaru guy and the only real solution was a Subaru factory rebuilt transmission. Fred went about filling out the paperwork for the warranty company even though he had never heard of it before and invested a lot of personal time into my situation. I had the car for 34 days before the transmission went and I was certain that the warranty company would deny the claim and say that it was damage prior to coverage. Fred dotted every "I" and crossed every "t" on that paperwork and jumped through every hoop the warranty company gave him. Fred kept in contact with me every day there was a new development. Finally, he called to say that it had actually been approved. I couldn't believe it and figured it would be a few more weeks before getting my car back. 6 days later I was ready to roll. Helbig's saved me at least $6,000 by taking the time to do my paperwork properly, not to mention saving my sanity.

They have had my truck in the shop at least 3 times since I purchased it. For a continuous stream of issues that are all related. They refuse to believe half of it until WE have to physically show them the issues. And now my warranty has ran out, they had it for approximately 1/2 of it, and it has a huge oil leak in the rear main engine seal and no shop in my area will touch it due to location. I will never use this dealership again and I will NEVER recommend them to anyone.

If I could give a lower rating than one star I would. Avoid this garage at all costs. The mechanics…read moreare without a doubt the most incompetent and questionable people that I have ever made the mistake of letting touch my truck. I have always done the maintenance on my truck myself but a few months back my oil was due for a change and my wife and I had to make an unexpected trip to Pittsburgh for a family emergency. So I went against my personal code and decided to go to a garage and unfortunately "George's Tune Up" was the only place that could get my in the next morning. When I arrived I should have known not to turn my truck over to them but as I said we had to be in Pittsburgh that day and I did not have time to do it myself. My appointment was at 8:00 a.m., I arrived at 7:45 Andy the owner (I'm assuming) showed up at 8:20. He was driving the same type of truck as mine (which was in rough shape) and when he got out without so much as a "hello" he pointed and said "I'll give you $50 dollars for your wheels and rear bumper". It was at this point that I could tell that he was high. His eyes were blood red, he was slurring his speech, and he smelled of marijuana from 10 feet away. Again I knew that I shouldn't turn my truck over to this guy but as I said I had to be in Pittsburgh that day and the clock was ticking. I thought "well the comment about the wheels and bumper must have been a joke" (it wasn't, by the way), and he obviously partook in taking illegal controlled substances, but I pushed my worries aside thinking maybe he I said just a manager or supervisor and that he doesn't actually work on the vehicles. (He does I found out) Anyway to make a long, and very agrivating story short I took the truck to Pittsburgh and back but I noticed I that it was running a little hot. So when i got home I checked it out and it was at that point that's I found power steering fluid in my radiator. This ignoramous was actually so out of it that while topping off my fluid levels he added power steering fluid into my radiator expansion tank. It still has me outraged and as I said this happened several months ago and it's taken me this long to write a review because, frankly it took this long to calm down from the whole experience just to keep a level head while writing this review. So to sum this all up don't ever go to George's Tune Up the best thing to do is handle the maintenance yourself if you have the time and know how. If you can't I would strongly recommend taking a short drive out Baltimore Pike in Cumberland, MD to Twiggs automotive they're really the only mechanics in the tri-state area that can be trusted not only to charge a fair price but to also complete the job correctly with no worries of mistakes, such as adding power steering fluid to the radiator. I hope this's review helps to save someone from the same headache I got as a result of using George's Tune Up. Thank you.

He said he hoped by the end of the month (August). I got all the details and decided I wanted to buy this truck. Jim said to send a $500 down payment and it was mine. I did that and started arranging financing on my own since due to my credit I could not get full financing through Auto Land. I got a call @ 9:30 am on the 31st and was told the truck was there and I needed to be at the dealership that day by 6:00 pm with my financing or it would be sold to another party who had "cash in hand". I informed Jim and Finance Mgr David Shetil that I couldn't do that before 09/04. David said that if I wasn't there that day they had another buyer that would be getting the truck so the sale could be counted in their end of month figures. What was the point of my putting $500 down as requested. As of today 09/08, I still have not received a refund of my down payment! I think their business practices leave a lot to be desired and as such will not be doing any further business with them. I am telling any outlet I have access that this business has no honor.
