We have used this company to install two furnaces with an air conditioner, repair a shower valve that needed going in from the wall opposite, a minor furnace repair, and to consult about our in-floor heating system. While it can sometimes take some time between call and service, this didn't surprise me and none of the issues were urgent. Technicians were unfailingly pleasant and courteous, did their best to be minimally intrusive. They kept us informed throughout each job and pricing has been honest (if they screw anything up along the way -- like breaking a bracket -- the fix is on them 100% with full apologies). Be clear that you know what you are looking for, because some techs will price out only exactly what you ask for, while others will recommend a cheaper solution where available. Not everyone is going to come equipped with the same level of experience. I think this is perfectly reasonable to expect. They take Mastercard. I love my super quiet AC!! read more

Booked a same day appointment with Rob's because they are not open weekends. Rearranged my work schedule to get home for the appointment and the window came and went with no communication. On follow up the service rep indicated they phoned multiple times to confirm and moved to the next appointment, she provided the number back to me that was not even remotely close to the number i provided. Fair enough, mistakes happen however there was no appetite from this business to admit making a mistake that cost me my day and the solution proposed by management is for me to take another day off on Monday and live with the plumbing situation on the weekend. Just got off the phone with Romaniuk Plumbing and they will be here tomorrow! Very disappointed with problem solving and lack of regard for the time of other's from this business. read more

FURNACE REPLACEMENT: DO NOT SHOT HERE!!! Very unhappy about the way this company takes people for a ride, especially the elderly. You only have 2 payment options. Pay in full at once or RENT... NOT rent to own. They charge you an amount per month to rent your replacement (s) and put a Notice of Security Interest (type of lean) on your property that expires in 15 years. By this time, you have paid the 15 years, you have paid 3 times the amount for the replacement and the Notice of Security Interest will be renewed. They say they provide yearly maintenance and filters....If you were to sell the property, you need to clear the amount owing.... which is more 10-25% MORE than what the original amount was. It has been taking me several weeks to get a proper response from the company, leaving several messages with a promise to call me back. If you check out the warranty, it's good for 1 year. There is no information with the Better Business Bureau for this company as you get a page error. I found the half decent reviews for Rob's Albertan Service Experts are fake. I recommend you look elsewhere. read more

I requested that this company come in and check my toilets for leaks. I had used them before and it was clear I was in a condo. I had no toilets but was using my neighbours toilets assuming that I would have toilets by this evening. They never showed up for the appointment time. They called once and said they were running late but never showed up. An hour and a half later I had to call AGAIN and eventually the technician called and told me he wasn't comfortable with doing condo work but he could come out two hours later. This is the worst service I have received in years. I can't even call it service because they didn't even come out. I now had to call an emergency plumber to see if he could come out and now I have to pay way more money because of this company. Terrible. Terrible service. Never ever again. read more

Used them yesterday to fix a furnace that wasn't heating consistently as they had replaced the controller 3 years earlier for $650. Well this year it went again. Got charged $215 for the diagnosis and it still wasn't working. Got quoted $860 for the same controller this year. So I bought it at Amre myself for $238 and installed it in about 15 minutes. How on earth can you justify over $1k for a $238 part. Crooked AF. Use them if you want to get ripped off. Oh and was quickly told about the payment program of upgrading to a new $5-$6k furnace. Pretty sure this is why they gauge their service calls - in the hopes that out of despair customers will upgrade their furnace instead of wasting money on their brutally overpriced service charges. And for $215 you think they would have left a clean filter? Nope. Thanks for nothing Robs Albertan rip-off. read more

Shady! Was told the price would be $125 for someone to come out and look at the furnace then they would discuss parts and labour. I wasn't able to see them and my wife let them in. They said the furnace would need to be replaced then charged $260. Not sure what the extra was for but no invoice provided and my wife didn't know it should have only been $125. I called the office now 2 times to find out what the extra charge was but was told the manager would need to call back. Now a week later in shoulder season still haven't heard back. Even if there was an additional labour charge that was hidden my wife said he was here for 20 minutes. read more

This company installed a furnace in our home 16 years ago and we are having to have a new one installed this week because it was not balanced properly, the ducting wasn't done right which stressed out the unit, which then entirely rusted it out and caused a low level carbon monoxide poisoning for some undetermined period of time. We had to wake up people in the basement when the alarm went off to ensure they were safe. The original cost was more then than it is today to replace, so not good value either. Avoid this company. They aren't a good choice. read more

The plumber was fantastic, amiable and professional. A great guy. my issue is with the pricing and the company. They said that a visit would be 129$+parts. The plumber had to use a snake\Auger and charged me an additional 180$ for the Auger. It comes to a hefty bill of 329$ for an easy fix. I'm not getting the logic here. Can you imagine getting charged double at the doctor because he used a statoscope? or pay double at the mechanic because he used a wrench? The all thing felt like a scam to me. read more

New furnace was installed on April 5, 2021. When holes were drilled through the stucco for the exhaust and intake pipes, one of the pilot holes was drilled in the wrong place. This resulted in the installer chipping out considerably more stucco than was necessary. Fortunately I happened to go outside when this happened and commented to the installer about the stucco. He admitted to drilling the pilot hole in the wrong place. I mentioned it to the other installer. He admitted that the other guy screwed up . I texted the sales representative who I was dealing with. He said that the general manager would be informed about the mistake. Later the sales representative texted me to inform me that the general manager had been made aware of the mistake and that he had talked with the installers. He said that the installers had told him that the stucco was brittle (I am assuming that they were blaming this on the amount of stucco chipped away). The sales representative texted me that someone would probably contact me about this the following day. I am still waiting to hear from someone. I am also still waiting for someone to come over and improve the appearance by replacing the aluminum covers that are hiding the mistake with white covers so that it is less noticeable. read more

I am very unhappy about the cost of the service that I was provided by Rob's Albertan. I paid $125 dollars to the Service Expert to arrive at my home. Then, I paid $225 for him to replace the fill valve of my toilet. A service that took him less than 10 mins. Thus, in total, I paid $368 (incl tax) for the Service Expert to work at my home for 10 mins. If you do the math, it follows then that Rob's Albertan thinks their Service Experts' services are worth $2208/hr! My guess is that the Service Experts make much less than $100 dollars an hour. Thus, rob's Albertan must pocket revenue in excess of $2100 / hour off of service calls like mine. There is no justification for charging that level of overhead on any service provided to any person in our community. read more

First of all, let me start by saying this is the only review I've ever written on Yelp. That's how frustrated i got with this company. First impressions mean a lot and let me tell you mine was not good. They've laid a horrible reputation in my eyes and everyone I know will find out. I got in contact with them to get a quote on a project I was working on. They came by and checked out the location and said they'd get back to me with a quote by next week. A week goes by and the day they were supposed to get the quote back to me, they messaged saying they're busy and id have to wait another week. I wasn't very happy with that but I couldn't do anything about it "they were busy". Anyway, another week goes by and still no quote. This time I messaged them and was frustrated because I needed to start the project as soon as I could, but they didn't reply back to me. Clearly, this company is hiring the wrong people to work for them. They lost thousands of dollars from my project. I BELIEVE THE REVIEWS ON THEIR WEBSITE ARE FAKE! OR CLEARLY CONTROLLED. We'd dealt with Rob's Albertan a few years ago and the service was acceptable, so we called them again to install a new valve in our shower as part of a renovation. The plumber who came to do the work was clearly new, took a very long time to get the work done (3+ hours), then turned the water on prematurely and ended up soaking my bathroom and everything below it, delaying my renovation schedule by 2-3 days. The bill ended up being quite a bit more than I was expecting, as well, even though she didn't charge me for all of her time. As luck would have it, we ended up having a different plumber (from a different company) in the house before the shower got tiled, and he pointed out that the new valve had been installed too far into the wall. Had it not been for him, we likely wouldn't have known there was a problem until the tile was on the wall, at which point we would have needed to either remove the newly installed tile or open up the wall in behind the shower to correct the problem. We called Rob's Albertan to come back and fix the install and were told they'd be to our house between 8 - 10 the next morning. At around 9:00 the next day they called to say they couldn't make it for that time and would need to come sometime in the afternoon, and would be sending the same person who made the mistake. I had to insist on a more experienced plumber. He kept adjusting the position of the valve and then asking me if I thought it was close enough. I had to insist that he actually measure where the finished wall would be and use that to determine where the valve should be. By the time he left I realized that the bracing he'd installed wasn't connected to anything, so I had to fix it myself (as I didn't have the patience to deal with them again). I will never deal with Rob's Albertan again. read more

We had been using them for several years to clean the jets in the furnace and check the fireplace however the last experience was not good. The man finished well within the hour but spent 20 minutes writing up the report in his vehicle! Which put us well over the hour. Boy was I mad and filed a complaint with the company. Our furnace stopped working two weeks ago and after Atco Gas told us it needed a new blower motor and probably an inducer motor, I contacted Rob's Albertan. A technician came the next day and after a thorough inspection of our old furnace, determined that indeed these two motors were necessary. He did also recommend considering a new furnace as the cost for fixing the 11 year old one was high. A sales rep came the same evening and presented the different options. He was very thorough and answered all our questions. Paul, the service technician that installed our new furnace was friendly and very efficient. We were quote 6 1/2 hours for the installation and it was finished in 5. The only negative is that we had to wait a week for the furnace to be installed. read more

I called Rob's Albertan Service when I had a problem with my cast iron floor drain in the basement. They said they could fix my drain and booked me an appointment 2 1/2 days after my initial call. The morning of my appointment I called to see if they could give me an idea of what time they would be there. I was told that they were overbooked and would have to schedule. I explained that I was unable to use my drains and to me it was a bit of an emergency and I had explained this when I originally booked the appointment. The did come out that day around 2 pm and said they would have to re-book and come back. They booked an appointment for a future date of nine days. I said that this would not work and they did rebook for a future date of six days. Having already paid a really large amount for the initial visit I booked the slot and waited again with out being able to shower, do laundry, do dishes or even flush the toilet, especially with paper. The day rolled around that they were to come repair my drain and I was told the plumber who was to do the work phoned in sick and they had to reschedule. I was not happy and asked to speak to a manager. The manager never call me but when they called to tell me they could not come any sooner I cancelled their service and told them not to bother. They then called and said they could send somebody out later in the day again but I said no I already had someone else coming in that I had phoned a few minutes prior to their return call that was coming out to do the repairs that same day. I would never recommend this company. I was willing to pay the much higher prices they were charging for the service but I did not get any service from this company and paid a ridiculous price for nothing. The third time the when the new part did not solve problem rep said he could not fix and I should call a Trane furnace dealer. I did and it was fixed on first visit. I built an insulated concrete form home in 2007, and Accent installed my furnace and heat recovery ventilator. After the furnace was installed, my general contractor quickly determined that the air intake and exhaust ducts were reversed and corrected the problem. A fairly obvious mismate, but in and of itself, not that big of a deal. As my house is extremely air tight, I needed a heat recovery ventilator installed to act as lungs for the home to bring fresh air in and exhaust the stale air outside. The installer placed the HRV too close to the furnace such that I could not open the access port to perform the required maintenance on the system without lowering it down from the ceiling by unhooking the chains that supported it. Again, an inconvenience reflective of laziness and indifference on the part of the installer, but nothing that would precipitate me writing this review. As the weather got cooler in November of this year, i noticed humidity building up on my windows and walls and subsequently determined that the motor on my HRV had burned out. I called Accent, and they were accommodating in sending out an experienced technician by the name of Russ who confirmed the motor needed to be replaced. The problem was that after calling around, Russ told me that it would take 5 - 8 weeks to get a new motor from the warehouse in Quebec, notwithstanding that I was willing to pay whatever was required to get somebody to put the part on a plane and fly it out to Edmonton. I was told this was not possible, that they didn't keep any parts in stock, and that another customer had been waiting for 8 weeks for the same motor and it had yet to arrive. My only option was therefore to spend 3000.00 to have a new HRV installed, as my house would have been infested with mold were i to wait the 2 months or more that would be required to get the part. Calling around, i was able to speak to the owner of Action Heating, who was extremely helpful in both finding me a new motor by calling around to various suppliers and then taking the time to explain that the HRV system Accent installed was not well suited to cold climates given it has no defrost feature. While he offered to get me the new motor within 5 days and talk me through the installation process such that I could replace it myself, he also suggested i replace my HRV with a Lifebreath model - the same model Effect homes uses on all the net zero homes they build in Edmonton. Of importance, he indicated his company was to busy installing systems for existing clients and wouldn't be able to do the work for me, so he had no financial incentive to misrepresent any the information. Ultimately, I had Target Heating install a new Lifebreath system, which is a considerably upgrade from the system Accent was going to install, for 800.00 less than Accent was going to charge me. After several years of dealing with Accent, i have found them to be alternately indifferent or incompetent. I would highly recommend either Action Heating or Target Heating to anyone looking for a Heating company, as both companies were far more interested in helping me out that Accent has ever been. read more
