So our 1973 furnace bit the dust last week... not what I had in mind for my 36th birthday present but c'est la vie! They offer a 24/7 service for die hard moments. We were able to wait until the morning to avoid the middle of the night call out. Ricardo promptly came out and inspected our dinosaur furnace and told me the bad news - broken ball bearings and holes throughout. Ricardo did a temporary fix to keep it partially running while we d schussed options for a new furnace with Curtis. All correspondence was answered promptly via email and Curtis was available by phone as well. A-1 offered to loan us free heaters in the interim as well. We ended up going with a 2 stage high efficiency and an AC coil for future AC install. The quotes were provided via email with links directly to the Bryant website to view the most current information. I can't remember the name of the next gentleman who came out but he was on time and professional. We were really happy from start to finish with the service received. Never debt pressures to buy bigger or more expensive items and things were explained to me in a way I could understand. There were a few hiccups when all was said and done but everything was handled with grace and I feel confident in the service received. I tried to do my mother-in-law favor by installing a new Wi-Fi thermostat on her furnace that she received for Christmas. Next day furnace stopped working, ATCO gas was called and said that furnace board was fried and needed to be replaced. I called A-1 heating and they had one of their technicians over within 30 minutes on December 26th. It turns out that it was just a loose connection in the furnace and there is no need to replace the circuit board. They probably saved me $800 by finding the problem quickly. With me being in the real estate business I work with lot of heating and furnace companies and have had the BEST experience with this one! Call them first, you won't be disappointed. I am a very happy long-term customer of A1, who has used them for both emergency and planned work - maintenance, repairs and replacement. Over the years, they have cleaned our furnace and ducts, fixed our furnace (when we were on holiday, overseas, at Christmas time!), replaced our hot water tank (the next working day, when it crapped out when one of our three kids was taking a shower at the weekend!) and, most recently, replaced our (original) furnace, which we had planned in, because they'd been keeping an eye on it for us and advised us to move it towards the top of our to-do list :) From my first interaction with them, it's been nothing but hassle-free, efficient and quality service; and for what I consider to be a very reasonable price. They are responsive and pleasant to deal with at all times (office staff and technicians); they turn up when they say, they provide information and answer questions according to the level of interest / savvy the homeowner exhibits (I fall into the "I-don't-need-to-know-just-take-care-of-it" category!) and they are always respectful of my home, which matters to me. I called about my furnace not working. They set up an appointment which was about a week away. Two days before the appointment, they called and said I had to wait another two weeks because they were short technicians so I rebooked. I got two texts from them a week before the appointment saying they'd be there between 1 and 4. Another text the morning of the appointment reminding me they'd be there between 1 and 4. No one showed. No phone call. I did, finally receive a phone call at 5 saying he was on the way. I told him to cancel. I'm a nurse and I work a lot of shifts. I had to take off work to be there at the appointed time. By the time the technician arrived, I was heading back to work. All they had to do was call me. They had my number. The technician was the one who called me at 5. So, he could have called a couple of hours earlier and said he was running late. I don't think the people at this company have any respect for other people's time. read more

Need a new furnace and duct work. I was referred to A1 told they would look after me. They sent Karl out to give us an estimate. who was very polite, seemed to think they would be competitive as there are no walls to open , it's simply run some new ducts in this tiny 600 soft house, and install a new furnace. Got a call a few hours later Karl told me the quote would be over 12k ? What a complete joke. I told A1 what was needed before they came out. I wasted my time waiting around to receive a quote more than double of an other quotes. I said you guys just don't want to do it? I was told no the workers are slow and it would take 3 to 4 days to run 5 runs of duct work ! For a 611 sq ft house ???? Seriously A1, man up and say sorry it's to much like work we don't want to do it because our workers don't like to work hard !!! Joke Joke Joke. If your workers are slow how many customers are you screwing over with padded hrs ?? Curtis your reply just proves my point " your quote did not fit my budget " seriously not a well thought out reply. More than double of other companies that mainly do retro fits and service ? Please explain how you can justify 3 or 4 days to install duct work for a 600 square foot house ? Every other quote I have is one day to install both the furnace and duct work ! If you only want to do retro fits and repairs don't waste people's time ! When they have real work to be done. Tell your call Centre not take referrals for real work ! Just the easy stuff because our people don't like a challenge. read more

I contacted A-1 and they were great!! Was looking to have my ducts cleaned and they were very dirty and full of construction debris. Came when they said they would, worked hard, and got the job done!! Well worth the money to have them come again and do more work. You definitely get what you pay for and I've had bad work done at a cheaper price. Definitely recommend!! read more
