They are very helpful and concerned about their customers. I was always treated respectfully. They did a wonderful job reinstalling the pipes for the furnace. I now have no noise and can sleep at night. When they took the pipes out there was water in them. Will be referring them to everyone.

True North Heating and Cooling has been a gem to work with. Initially what started the summer…read morebefore, with a call about a noisy neighbour's a/c and what could be done to help dampen the sound, continued that positive experience into a great one to follow. Who wants to be without heat in the winters that we seem to have here, but kerplunk it did, the 'ol 21 year old Frigidaire furnace cracked its heat exchanger. With -30°C weather in the forecast, this was not ideal timing, but when is it ever? Anyway, Chris showed up as soon as he was able to look at what we needed to do for getting heat in the house again. The calculation was a little different than I expected, now they just look at the number and size of windows in the house rather than the size of the house. We also looked together at other issues that we were having like not enough heat pumping into the upstairs and downstairs and how the airflow could be improved. They gave us some time to think about our options and what we were going to do for the install... but they also didn't make us wait on their end. The pencilled in an install date for us so that we wouldn't have to wait. That was so appreciative. They dropped off some smaller space heaters and some larger ones that plugged into the 220V outlets. The rental ended up being free with the install. (But do watch your usage as they're going to chew into your electricity bill... if you have a gas fireplace, best to use that.) So install date came. We chose the Lennox Merit ML296, it is a two-stage rather than a variable stage, but still better than what we had. The furnace could not be vented out of the chimney anymore with the hot water tank, as per the new regulations, and now is vented out the side of the house. So be sure you keep that in mind as there's going to have to be some new pipes and drilling involved. They helped pick the best path for the new intakes and exhaust. One thing that was good was there was no more need for the combustion air intake of the house, so that huge source of cold air into our utility room was going away! They cut and blocked it off. Demolition happened in the morning. The two installers arrived on time. Note for anyone, if you can give them your garage as a staging area that will make things way easier for them. When they pulled out the old furnace it was very clear that the heat exchanger had a nice big hole with another one or two more on the way. Ugh. (See picture.) The new Lennox is a bit smaller than the old one, but they were still able to use the existing ducting by installing an extension. They repositioned the furnace and new filter system (we went for the Merv16 filtration system to take care of dust allergies) to point in a more accessible manor than the old one. In addition to the installation of the furnace I was surprised that they also went and improved the drainage system of my humidifier and the furnace with proper PVC piping rather than the hokey flexible tube it replaced. Way more professional! They carefully went onto the roof and dropped down a new inset in the chimney to allow the water heater to still vent properly and soon after, that afternoon, the new thermostat was installed. All of this was done with proper social distancing and precautions, yet at the same time were available for any of my constant questions or inquiries during the install. Part of the installation included a new thermostat to properly drive the new furnace. We requested an upgrade to the Honeywell T6 Pro Smart Thermostat WIFI (TH6220WF2006/U) and we couldn't be happier! We can now turn up and down the heat when we are away from the house or still in bed with the app or with Siri. With Apple HomeKit, we can set scenes to control it and our other devices. We like the touch display screen a lot better than the normal T6 Pro. It can even send you an alert if your house is too cold or hot. I recommend it. The next day involved opening up the return air on our main floor to allow for better circulation and the addition of a proper one into the basement. New ducting was put in and installed in a location that wouldn't impede the positioning of furniture. The downstairs is still cool, but it isn't freezing like it was before. One thing about the install I did have concerns about was the exhaust outlet, it was positioned at the level of our backyard access path on the side of the house and my boys bumping into it. It also was near where the window opened. I sent them some pictures about it a few weeks later and they happily agreed to put an extension on the pipe to raise it above both issue sources and insulated it from freezing. No charge for the adjustment! In all this was something that I didn't want to have to do... the roof was the one planned. But obviously it was something that we had to do and it was obvious we had to do it with True North Heating and Cooling. I wouldn't have done it any other way! Thank you Chris, Carmal and the rest of your wonderful gang!

For the past five years, ever since I installed Amazon Alexa in most of the rooms of our home, I…read morehave wanted to attach a smart thermostat as part of our smart home set-up. We have our lights, various appliances, and other smart home devices already hooked up to Alexa, but I could NEVER get a smart thermostat installed and working properly. I was unsuccessful at installing one myself, my old heating & cooling guys couldn't get one working, and an electrician we hired couldn't get one working. I was told that something was wrong with the configuration in our furnace's wiring, or alternatively, the smart thermostat we purchased was a lemon. I had to settle for running up and down the stairs, flicking the heat controller back and forth between "heat" and "cool" manually, depending on whether I needed the furnace or the central air conditioning. With the constant wild swings in Edmonton's temperature all throughout the Spring, it was a major pain to keep resetting the thermostat manually when the rest of our smart home was so automated. Recently, when our old thermostat started wearing out and malfunctioning, I thought I'd give the installation of a smart thermostat another shot. I carefully researched the reviews, and saw that Trust Home Comfort came highly recommended. They seemed to have a lot of experience in upgrading old-style thermostats to electronic smart home systems. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! My first discussions with Van were great. He understood exactly what we wanted, he sympathised at my frustrations with our previous attempts to convert to a smart thermostat, and he assured me that Trust Home Comfort could solve the problem. He promised to send his best, most experienced installer (Kang). I got an appointment immediately for two days from the day of booking, which was enough time to get the thermostat brand and model he suggested (ecobee), after I asked him for his recommendation. Amazon supplied the thermostat through next-day delivery through ecobee's Amazon store, and the installer showed up the very next day after, on-time-to-the-minute of the booking we made, to install the device. (I should also mention that Trust Home Comfort has a sophisticated computerised appointment booking and billing system, so reminders are sent out via email in a timely way before the appointment, and billing is detailed and easy-to-pay online). To make a long story short, Kang was able to immediately identify the simple wiring problem that hexed us all these years, preventing us from installing a smart thermostat sooner. At one stage years ago, our humidistat control was moved to the furnace room by our old heating and cooling guy, and the wiring of the old humidistat left behind from the old location was confused with one of the power wires needed to power-up a smart thermostat. The correct wire was quickly relocated by Trust Home Comfort's technician, and the smart thermostat was up and running in no time! The old manual thermostat worked because it didn't need external power, but when previous heating companies and electricians tried to hook up a smart thermostat to the (dead) "power wire", it naturally couldn't power-up because the old humidistat wire, although the same colour as the correct external power wire, wasn't powered. Trust Home Comfort figured out what the problem was, and fixed the problem immediately. Their experience and ability to troubleshoot problems quickly proved they were a sound choice to install our new smart thermostat. The billing was detailed, fast and very reasonable. They did exactly what they promised to do, and today the smart thermostat is working EXACTLY as it should. Their technician was experienced, and set everything up exactly as we wanted. What more could I have ask for? I can't recommend Trust Home Comfort enough! Needless to say, they are our new, permanent service provider when it comes to any home heating or cooling solutions.

The technician arrived on time, was courteous, professional and seemed to be competent. After about 30-45 minutes he told us that we needed to replace the heat pump and that it could not be repaired. We paid the service fee of about $200 and asked that they send out someone who could give us a estimate to replace the heat pump. 2 days later another technician came out, and gave us an estimate. Again, he was on time, courteous, professional and friendly. I mentioned the need to replace the heat pump to a friend who lives in our building. He mentioned another company and so we called them to get an estimate on replace the heat pump. They came out, and looked at it, asked some questions, did some maintenance and the heat pump is working! No replacement needed! Getting this 2nd opinion saved us literally thousands of $. We are so grateful for the other company and will probably not call Acclaimed! again for a repair - since either their technicians are not competent, or they tried to sell us something we didn't need. After I posted this review, the owner of the company apologized for the misdiagnosis and offered to refund the initial service fee. He was very polite, listening and we had a good conversation. He handled this with grace and so much better than other owners. I'll raise my rating to a 2 from a 1 because of this call. It was appreciated.
