Completely unprofessional. He didn't listen to what I asked for, and went with what HE thought was best instead of what I wanted. I'm open to suggestion, but that should be discussed and agreed to BEFORE he ever starts cutting. He just said "okay" to my requests and did what he wanted anyway. My hair ended up much shorter than I wanted, and he made the front so short that I couldn't wear a ponytail for months.
On top of that, the total charges at the end were way more than I had been told in the beginning. I had made a point of requesting the more expensive Extra-Long/Extra-Dense option when booking my appointment. However, when we were finished, the total he gave me was even higher! When I questioned it, he said my hair was REALLY thick (whatever that means.) He saw my hair the second I sat down, so he knew then that he would charge me extra but never said a word. He just gave me the higher bill at the end when it was time to pay.
Months later, it was time for another cut. I considered going elsewhere, but my favorite stylist was on maternity leave, and I rationalized that my hair wasn't as long or thick now so should be less expensive, and I would be more direct about what I wanted. I booked through the online system and the appointment was initially accepted. However, he didn't like the honest and very fair review I had given that summarized all the above, so he subsequently cancelled the appointment and sent me an email to find a new stylist.
A true professional would have accepted and acknowledged the feedback and sought to rectify the issue by improving the customer's experience. His reaction was downright childish. I've seen his response to other negative reviews online and it's all the same - blaming the client themselves for their dissatisfaction and insulting them. He thinks that because of his experience, his opinion is all that matters, not his customers'. He does not have any interest in delivering a truly positive customer experience. If you do go to him, don't you dare say that you aren't thrilled with whatever result he decides to give you or you'll be insulted, banned, and have to witness an adult temper tantrum.
EDIT TO ADDRESS OWNER'S RESPONSE:
"All of your complaints are about the price you don't want to pay"
#1 WHAT?? Out of 4 paragraphs there, only ONE ever mentions the word "price" or refers to the cost AT ALL. Way to completely ignore 75% of what I was actually talking about and then twist the other 25% (see point #2).
#2 I never actually complained about the price. I complained about the PRACTICE of not informing the client upfront of the CHANGE in price. Virtually all customers expect this & all half-decent service providers know & practice this.
#3 "You sent me an email asking me for discounts for your next week appointment."
No. No, I did not. I inquired about the rewards points missing from my account for "liking" your FB page. I mentioned offhand that I'd like to make sure the accounting on the rewards program was accurate before I wrote a review because YOU OFFERED a 10% discount for online reviews. I did not REQUEST a discount. You ADVERTISE a discount given for a review. WHY DO YOU OFFER A DISCOUNT IF YOU'LL CALL A CLIENT CHEAP FOR USING IT??
#4 "Then you wanted me to change my rewards program so it can benefit your budget needs." Again, no. No I did not. I asked a question to confirm my understanding of the terms of YOUR offered rewards program. I never said a word about what my budget even was
#5 "I have a degree in Advertising and Public Relations, my marketing strategies has worked perfectly for everyone that visit and become part of the Robledo Studio family. Why do you want me to change them for you?" Good for you on your degree. So what? I have a Masters in Business. I work in corporate strategy for a Fortune 500 company. More importantly, nothing in my review had ANYTHING to do with your marketing OR your rewards program, and I never asked you to change anything about either. My review was about your actual service. College doesn't teach you to actually treat people well
#6 I stated IN MY REVIEW why I requested the 2nd appointment. Forgive me for actually wanting to give a service a 2nd chance at a better experience. This is your thanks for a customer that was willing to give you another try? You belittle and insult them for it? That's not a competent business owner. That's a childish a$$hole
#7 "No one complains about prices but only the ones that can't pay but yes they still want fabulous hair." ....Just wow. I make six figures you judgmental moron. I can more than afford your services. That doesn't mean your services are worth the value
#8 Thank you for demonstrating in such grand fashion the the unprofessionalism and childishness I was referring to, not to mention your lack of compunction about outright lying. I'm so glad everyone can see firsthand how much you actually care about your clients and the experience they have with you. read more
