We have been bringing our dogs to Cary Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years, and are now searching for a new vet. The office has changed hands several times in recent years, and has become increasingly pushy about services and their Paw Plan. It never covers any blood tests or other extra services that seem "necessary" when recommended by the vets....but it was our experience with our two senior dogs that sent us searching for other care. Our one dog was 12+ years old, and had the Paw Plan with added dental care because she always had issues with her teeth. Before her last cleaning I directly asked if she was maybe getting too old for dental care with full anesthesia, etc, because she was slowing down. The vet told us if her bloodwork looked ok then it should be fine. After the cleaning she immediately experienced a series of complications where she refused to eat and was looking very ill. The vet kept recommending anti-nausea and food supplements, which we paid extra for, trying to get her to eat. Long story short we had a couple of very rude interactions with the desk staff, and they sent us rushing to an emergency vet who discovered a ruptured tumor, and she had to be euthanized. While we got a sympathy card from the emergency vet, Cary Vet never reached out to us about this other than to email us a bill for the rest of the Paw Plan - for over $700 - for the year because we used up all the services before paying off the yearly plan...even though the last service was a poor recommendation by the vet and our dog died afterwards! Because of this shock we cancelled our other senior dog's pet insurance, and delayed bringing him back to them. When we finally took him to see them for some arthritis pain, the vet was very condescending to us, insinuating we were ignoring his problems and were neglectful dog owners. We are definitely done with Cary Vet. I understand having to pay the bill, which we did, but the callousness with which we were treated by the staff was really the last straw.

After doing extensive research and reading lots of reviews, I chose Quail Corners. I've been taking my kitty to them for 3 years. Before COVID, you'd use separate entrances for cats and dogs. The front desk employees have all been mostly friendly. The exam rooms could use a facelift in terms of new paint, colors, etc. Some reviews have said their services are more expensive than other places. I can't say much about this as I've only used two vets while owning my cat. For me, I feel that I'm paying for quality and knowledgeable service. Quail Corners also has a 24 hour emergency clinic. Currently you drive up, call the number posted, and let them know you've arrived. The vet tech comes out and takes your pet inside. I don't love this, but what can you do right now? I will say they communicate with you a lot once they examine the animal (phone calls) and talk through any treatment options. I didn't feel too left out and in the dark by not going inside. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jarchow! She seems to be the primary cat vet at the clinic and is so patient and gentle with my furry boy. Dr. Jarchow almost "talks" to them by making a friendly purring sound while examining the cats. She is also the main vet surgeon and has done two rounds of teeth extractions on my kitty. I felt well informed ahead of and after the surgeries, plus she's never seemed annoyed at my calls to ask more questions.

After I explained how serious his condition was, Quartet Veterinary Hospital stepped in right away. They understood the urgency and had his surgery scheduled within the week, which gave me such relief during an incredibly stressful time. Dr. Gallagher, Mary, and the entire care team treated both Harley and me like family. They kept me informed every step of the way, worked closely with my regular veterinarian, and made sure everyone was on the same page. Their communication was proactive, compassionate, and thorough -- and they even checked on Harley after he came home. Their facility is spotless and truly top-notch, but what stands out most is how deeply they care. I will always be grateful for what they did for Harley. I highly recommend them without hesitation.

Dr. Oldston took care of my kitty and was very caring and understanding. She explained his treatment plan and medications very thoroughly. I would recommend this place for your pet. Even though we came a bit early, they immediately showed us to a room, which was great. Cody and Dr. Craddock did a great job taking care of our cat during the visit. They trimmed her nails with almost zero fuss from her and gave her a thorough examination to make sure that she was healthy. Cost-wise, everything seemed pretty normal - not super cheap, but you obviously have to pay for quality :) We will definitely bring our cat back here for future checkups and potential health issues.

The team loved on him and was great about updating me on any changes and his condition throughout the duration of his almost week long stay. My 16 yr old dog spent the night vomiting bile and then being extremely lethargic the next morning…read more I went to TVRH and my dog did his normal greeting to the vet tech, licking her hand and wagging his tail. They told me he had an infection, all bloodwork was normal besides liver enzymes were elevated (my primary vet said he was not concerned because the levels weren't high). They recommended being kept there for 24-48 hours to get fluids and antibiotics in him and then re-evaluate (this was around 3pm). I received a call at 6:45am the next morning saying he was doing great, had a strong appetite and was ready to go home. I wanted him to stay in their care for a few more hours at least because I wanted to be sure given his advanced age. My girlfriend picked up at 1:30pm and I payed the $2300 for his 22 hours of care. My girlfriend got him home 30 minutes later at 2pm and after she got him out of the car, he lost his balance while urinating and she had to carry him in and put him on our bed. She said she just thought he was exhausted. I got home at 6pm, 4.5 hours after discharge and he looked worse than when I left him with TVRH the day before. We could not get him to eat, even human food that he normally loves. I wanted more information on why he was discharged and their shift change of doctors is at 7pm/7am. I called at 6pm and let the receptionist know of his worsened state and I wanted a call back immediately from the doctor. Well, 7pm came and went and I didnt hear from Dr Peddy. Thursday came and went, could hardly get my dog to drink water and still wouldn't eat anything. I scheduled a visit to my primary vet for Friday. After examining him and his bloodwork, he couldn't find anything wrong with him but said, we've got to get him eating and drinking. So he gave him a strong dosage of steroids to try and kickstart his appetite and give him more energy. Unfortunately, it did not work. We scheduled to have him euthanized and did that at our primary vet yesterday. I am extremely livid that I was told he had a strong appetite, yet he never ate after returning from TVRH. Also, he was in worse shape than when I dropped him off the day before. And the fact that after spending $2300 for 22 hours of care, I could not even get a call back for a 5 minute conversation about why they told me he was ready to discharge at 6:45am that morning. I will never take an animal here again and recommend either state or another local emergency vet instead if you truly care about your pet.

We've experienced wellness visits, technician visits (for monthly pain management shots and nail trims), and sadly, end of life care. I've felt seen, heard, and valued in every experience. The end of life process was so thoughtful and kind, I'm truly grateful for how I got to say goodbye to my best girl. The spa and resort is also wonderful. They send you progress reports and check in with pictures when your animals stay, which I greatly appreciate.
