It is not first come, first serve at this mini mart. Customer service has room for improvement.

Friendly staff. Cold beer, lotto, checks cashed, snacks. Your typical corner store

Glad they came back from their collapsed roof incident earlier this year. Unfortunately not much…read morehas been done about their long check out lines. Good market with plenty of fresh selections and about anything one might want or need in a grocery store. The place is clean and well organized. I miss the local items sections although I did find His Hive Honey so that was nice. Upon check out I find myself standing in one or two lines open with customers packed full of shopping carts ahead of me. For claiming to be "express" this part ruins it. Otherwise a good store, with ample parking and good selection. Come for the convenience and produce. Be prepared to stand in a long check out line.

This has become my favorite market, and for so many reasons! Here are just a few: the meat…read moredepartment is gorgeous. I know that sounds like a strange word to use for meat on shelves, but everything looks so good and so fresh, and the way they are laid out so neatly it's just very pleasing to the eye. You will see that in my photos. Also the prices are quite reasonable considering nowadays prices. And one more thing that makes the meat department special is that they have nice, thick bags to put the meat in so that they won't bleed all over your other groceries. On top of that, as you'll see in the photos, all of the cuts of meat are listed on the bag, which is really helpful. There are two butchers there who you can ask questions of or have meat sliced or cubed or whatever you want to do with it. Now that's a special service. The other thing I also love about this store is that someone has an eye for design. Every single item on every single shelf is facing forward and perfectly stacked, nothing out of place. They must patrol the place just to tidy up. (I guess I have outed my OCD tendencies with comments on how well everything is stacked and displayed. ) And last but definitely not least was Courtney, my checker. She was not only very friendly and made eye contact with me and smiled to greet me when I approached her check stand, but she was also fast as lightning checking me out, and I was really impressed with that. I do wish there had been a box person there to help box my groceries though, because she and I had to do it, and I am an older lady and I have trouble lifting things. I also would've been nice to have them come out to the car with me and lift them into the car. SaveMart always offers this service and I really appreciate it. Maybe they were just shorthanded today? This is the only reason for the first stars instead of five. And again, take into account they might've been shorthanded that day. The photo with the little green fruit is just because they all looked like they were smiling at me and I thought they were cute. The prices are high for a lot of items but not for all, but so are everyone else's prices.

I am handicapped; I have neuropathy pain in my feet and the severity comes and goes. I can hardly walk today I'm in so much pain. I pulled up in front of the sliding metal doors to the nursery to ask the guy sitting right at the door if they had Clematis vines. I was parked 6' away from him with my hazard lights blinking. I smiled and said hi and I asked him through my car window if they had Clematis vines. He was cold and unfriendly and works in the garden department but he didn't know what Clematis was and instead of opening his phone and looking it up, he said "what's that?" I explained and then he pulled out his phone and he asked me to spell it for him and I did, and then he showed me a picture and he said "is this it?" and I said "yes" Then he said "okay, it says we have one". I said "I need three, so all you have is one?" "No, (he said impatiently) no, it says we have 10." I said "okay, thank you, but you said you had one". Then I said "I need three, and I'm handicapped and there are no handicapped carts on this side of store. So will you please walk in and get three for me, and you put them in my car for me?" He said "No I can't. I can't leave my post here." I said "okay I understand, will you please call customer service and ask them if they can send someone to come and help me?" He said "No, I can't do that." I asked an older couple walking into that door if they would look to see where they are for me, and they couldn't find them. When they asked him where they were, he pointed to a stand with pack of seeds in it. They told him I wanted the plants. He said "well all we have seeds." OH MY GOD, ALL OF THAT FOR NOTHING!

Since Smart and Final moved to their new location, they became my go to grocery store to shop at…read more It is close to me and believe it or not they are more reasonable then SaveMart. My issue is with management. 50% of the time that I go there, shopping carts are no where to be found accept out in the parking lot, and when they are in the designated spot, the spot is usually dirty, ugly and it is sad and irritating that people don't take pride on what they do. Last week the Dairy shelf was out of their First Street 2% milk gallons. I was told that the staff or stockers sucked. PLEASE DO BETTER!

Yolanda at Smart & Final was wonderful to me tonight. I had a cart full of stuff, and I got up to…read morethe checkstand and started putting things down and then realized I had left my bags in my car. Because I'm 73 and my hands hurt, I have special bags that are easier to carry from my car into the house when I get home, so it was important for me to go get them. My car was in the first handicapped space right in front of the door and I knew it would only take me a second to dash out and get them; there was only one woman behind me so I told her and the checker what happened, had her go ahead and go in front of me, and I ran out for just a few seconds, and hit my bags. But when I came back, there were five people behind her. I was stressed and didn't know what to do because I didn't want to jump the line, but 1/2 of my groceries had gone though the conveyer belt. The checker "Yolanda" saw my distress and leaned over and said to me "it's OK, I've got you, I put your things aside right here next to me and I'll just bring them to you when you get up here". I was so relieved by her kindness I was nearly in tears. When I finally got to her she was even more sweet and patient. She rang me up, bagged my groceries for me, and actually walked around her counter and put my bags into my cart for me. She had noticed that I gave her many more bags than I would need, and when I saw her begin to bag them I'd asked her to please use more of the bags to keep them light because I had a hard time lifting them. So of course (considering the caring heart that I'd already seen she had) she even put them in the cart for me. Yolanda is the epitome of what customer service personnel should be like, but sadly that kind of friendly and helpful service is found less and less often. Smart & Final, my advice is that you should Immediately promote Jessica to training your staff. I've been a manager and have trained staff in varied areas of business, and I'd steal her from you in a second if I wasn't retired. That girl is management material and should at the very least be a training supervisor. She's one in a million.
