Yeah, that's kind of a neutral report, we know. But it is a grocery, albeit one we've found to be well stocked with a lot of products, reasonably priced, clean, and with helpful employees. We got to chat with them for a little bit and that was nice to learn. They have tons of wonderful wines from around the world here (even some from Virginia....wtf?) and my husband and I were able to satisfy our wine snobbery even in the outer reaches of downeast Maine during our stay thanks to these guys. They have a lovely Spanish grenache as well as a crisp Pouilly-Fuisse that we pretty much lived off of. In addition, they have lots of excellent specialty cheeses to offer, and will give you samples to try while you shop. They were stocking the pizza display as we arrived. They also sell lottery tickets. Plenty of parking out front. My husband and I booked and Airbnb for a couple nights and intended to make food in the kitchen, but the Airbnb didn't communicate the best and listed this IGA as a "nearby grocery store." It is right in the heart of Lubec, and it did have most essentials. However, the prices are super high and you don't really have the best selection. We lucked out and ended up with some delicious chicken thighs to bbq up, but ended up with a pretty basic marinade. There wasn't exactly a gourmet ingredient selection, but understandable for such a tiny town at the easternmost point of the US of A. The store provided the essentials so we didn't have to drive all the way back to Machias, but I wouldn't recommend this as a "main" shopping stop. If you're visiting Lubec, just make the stops at a bigger, regular supermarket in Machias. Otherwise this IGA is perfect for last minute, forgotten essentials.
