After having my car recently hit by another driver, I scouted around for a few auto body shops for some damage estimates. Robertson Bodyworks is close to where I work, so I called to let them know I was coming. I put their address into my GPS and went for a drive.
After obviously overshooting where I was supposed to go and not seeing their business, I swung around and tried to find it again. Unfortunately, I drove up and down 99 Street four times before I gave up, pulled over and gave them a call. The receptonist was a very nice and friendly woman, but unfortunately didn't have a great sense of direction. When I asked if they were located near Air Liquide (which stands out as a good landmark on 99th), she said no and named two different businesses, neither of which I was later able to locate. I also asked if they were on the east side or west side of 99 Street, she told me the east side. After driving around for a few more minutes and still not finding the place, I finally noticed a billboard just north of Roper Road and out front of Air Liquide, telling me that Robertson's was located around back. Turns out, this was on the west side of 99th and not the east. Oh well...at least I found them!
I went in, and the receptionist was very nice and friendly and took all my info. She called for someone to come take a look at my car and I didn't wait one minute before Tim Robertson came and introduced himself. Very nice guy. We went and took a look at my car and went back inside. He did a great job of explaining what they would need to do to fix my car. He printed me out an estimate, and even recommended a couple other auto body shops that he thought might be able to offer a cheaper damage estimate. Normally, you wouldn't think anyone would do that, but I really got the sense that Tim wasn't a shifty guy who just wanted to bleed me for money.
I took my car to two other places for estimates, and Robertson's wound up being the most expensive quote of the three, but only by about $50. Unfortunately, that doesn't take into account a car rental, which I will require and which will cost more money. The other two places I went to included the cost of a rental car along with the damage estimate.
Despite being the slightly more expensive quote, I would still recommend dealing with Robertson Bodyworks for the friendly staff and professional manner in which they conducted business. I can't speak to the quality of their work, but if I ever need an autobody mechanic again, I'll definitely swing by and see what they can do for me. read more
