Im going to reference Costco On the plus side, Dr Mann at Roberts is very good at matching you up w the proper script . Costco on Sample is more rushed Besides Costco doesnt work w my ins Humana. Roberts does. $99 vs $10 co pay. Roberts has a facier high end selection- Gucci and Versace, but you pay heavily. The difference is in the price for lenses. After insurance , I came $390 out of pocket to update lenses .sick expensive . Costco is $162- same exact lenses. Upshot- get your script and glasses at Roberts. Run to Costco w the prescription and glasses to get lenses. Costco is #2 eyeglass seller in the world; small proprietors cant compete on the commodity side. read more

I believe it supporting local small businesses, and this optical shop has been in business for years! Robert's is tucked into a small plaza full of other small businesses on Prospect Road. They have a great selection, and great customer service. They take most insurance, and really try to work out the best options for your needs and budget. Not recommended for astigmatisms or complicated vision situation. Don't accommodate for complicated situations. Felt rushed and not thorough therefore was given the wrong prescription and no contacts for because of the wrong prescription. Generally kind people with most people providing decent customer service. We won't return here. Wouldn't recommend this place as a first option. read more

I moved ro South Florida in 2000 and after getting glasses at a couple big chain stores with high prices I stumbled on Roberts Optical in Oakland Park ar Andrews and Prospect. They have very high end expensive frames but they never have tried to steer me that direction abd after breaking 2 pair in 2023 the owner Bob Mann found me 2 beautiful frames that fit my lenses for $60. Today I showed up at the store at 3:15 to try and have a pair fixed (broken due to my own negligence). Mrs. Mann told me everything was shut down and asked if I could cone back. I told her I was leaving for Key West at 6:00 am and she invited me in and gave me frames with a badly bent temple with the metal part to attach it almost out and Bob fixed them up beautifully and attached a new cord to each side to keep them from falling off if I doze at my desk. I have also had exams from their son who is the DO on staff. This is a great local business which deserves our support! read more

Amazing customer service!!! I took my son's rather expensive sunglasses into the store to see if they could replace a screw. They happily helped me and didn't even charge me to fix the glasses! The owners were so friendly and helpful. There is something to be said about going to a family-owned business. They know how to treat folks. I had an outside prescription and a not so good experience at my previous optical store, with a bit of hesitation, although highly recommended I took my chances and WOW the experience that Robert and his staff delivered was exceptional. They are extremely knowledgeable and went out of there way to ease me into my 1st progressive. The frame selection makes it easy, for a very picky person like my self. I love this place! I called to set up an appointment for my yearly eye check up. A lady named Christa picked up and was very friendly and super helpful, she was able to book me an appointment and answer all my questions over the phone. When I got there I was highly impressed with the cleanliness and how organized everything was. Even the bathroom was spotless! My exam with Dr. Roberts was very pleasant, he was nice and gentle with me. There were a lot of frames to choose from and Christa was there with me taking her time helping me choose the right fit for me. They had a variety of different frames to choose from! I ordered 2 frames and a a few weeks later they were ready for pick up. I LOVE them, I get compliments on my glasses all the time. I broke my glasses so I needed a new exam and a pair of glasses quickly. I was able to see the doctor that day. Afterwards I when back to get my prescription and check prices in another stores an when I asked them to help me with the prescription since it's different from what other oculists give I was asked to wait , the guy never came out. Not very impressed with this place. For having one eye examination room and 4 people who work there you think they would be more organized. I went here because it was closer to my house and work than the place I went to for years. I should have drove the distance. I like the glasses I got but it took so long to get my contacts. I had to call to see if they came in yet and they only had half the order. Two days later they had the rest of it. They seem disorganized. Each time I went in they didn't know where my box was, {insert eye roll} you think they would have a way to organize their charts and boxes for easy access. I feel like I got ripped off for the number of pairs of contacts I was given. I usually get a whole years worth plus a sample with some solution bottles/cases. I got 9 pairs of contacts and no solution or cases. I should have stuck with my original doctor. I would go out of my way for ease and organization. (Also my other doc always had my contacts shipped to my house so I wouldn't have to worry about pick up.) Not here. They prefer you come in a couple times and try getting an appt that is convenient for you when the doctor is in. I wouldn't recommend them to a friend. read more

I walked in to the exam room, it was tiny kinda messy room and there was no ceiling light. The Dr. said it hasn't been repaired. I was made to take out my own contacts in that dark dingy environment and near a dirty mirror. In 6 years of getting examined for contacts I've never had to take them myself nor have been in such an unsafe and unclean environment. They didn't have many contact samples (which is unusual) so he gave me one to try and had to order samples and I had to come back the next day which I did. I walked in again no light - you would think there would be a light in the florescent fixture for safety reasons. It's a good thing I didn't trip or I would have sued. The doctor was very confusing, he talked a lot and gave me excuses for this and that and gave me another pair of contacts which I had to put in my eye in the dark. I left and with one new contact and now i have blurry vision in one eye. To top it off I had to pay $95 when my insurance should have paid for it. The Dr. took the money, not the girl up front. Now I have to go back but I think not. At this rate it will take weeks. This place should never be in business. I think I will file a formal complaint with the Florida department of Health. I phoned my insurance provider and took the proper measures and also phoned my bank for a refund of my money. DO NOT GO TO THIS RIP OFF PLACE! STAY AWAY. If they had a minus star here I would give them a - five. read more

Roberts Optical Center accepted my insurance, which was great for me (my 2 previous eye doctors stop taking my insurance.). Dr. Jason Mann, was my Physician who preformed the exam. Dr. Mann is experienced, profession and knowledgeable. Dr. Mann was through, patient and kind during my complete eye exam. As a senior woman, I appreciate not being rushed or disrespected. My appointment was taken on time, which a feel is important to me. Isabel assisted me with the selection of my frames. Isabel was informed I needed to stay within my budget and pick what the insurance covered; she did not make me feel pushed to buy more expensive glasses. The result was I left with two affordable, lightweight, glare-free eyeglasses. I was not forced or pressured, at all. All of the Staff here was cheerful and polite. Just genuine, nice folks that really wanted to help me. This is a nice, family practice that provided me with personal attention. Great overall experience. Wide variety of frames at unexpectedly low prices. No push for the up sell. When I saw the low prices compared to my experiences with large optical chains I was able to add some of the extras that I don't normally get ( I asked they didn't push). They have completed renovated. The previous review that mentioned the cramped accommodations must have been in before or during renovations. The eye exam was typical and met my expectations. I have used ROBERTS OPTICAL CENTER previously for new lenses on an existing pair of frames. I was impressed the first time. After a really bad experience at LENSCRAFTER Ft. Lauderdale Bal Harbour. I went back to ROBERTS OPTICAL CENTER to replace lenses in a pair of RAY BAN Sunglass Frame no longer made. They were very courteous and personable. They offered replacement lenses at a fair price, I gave my deposit to order them and left the frame for install. When I came in to pick them up they handed them to me with a smile and as I looked I noticed they had broken the frame in two places. They had actually glued it like I would not notice... SO $275 later they did nothing to remedy my problem. BEWARE as they do not stand behind their work! ITS SO WRONG. read more

I've been going to Robert's Optical for two years now and have had great experiences both times. I have been wearing corrective lenses since my late teens and my visits to Robert's Optical were the first time I felt like I was being seen by an actual doctor vs. examined by mechanical equipment, if that makes any sense. His exam was more hands-on so to speak, and I actually had been wearing lenses that were over correcting my vision. After seeing the doctor at Robert's Optical, I have experienced fewer headaches and vision related problems.
