We are just finishing a major remodel that included revamping our kitchen, among other things. The kitchen portion with cabinets and countertops was approximately 45k. I did not have a good experience. In retrospect, I would compare the experience to dealing with a used car salesman- sorry used car salesman. With one aspect of the design, I take full responsibility because I let him talk me out of my original idea of having one section of open cabinetry. I later regretted. It was very insightful to see first hand how Bob handled a problem with Cambria countertop installation. The cabinets were not installed level and a cleat was not included in the corner where the lazy susan was installed, which if not caught by Cambria countertop installer would have caused a eventual collapse because it was not properly installed. The Cambria installers were told to leave and go on to the next appointment, but thank goodness they didn't listen and began to try to fix the issue on their own. My contractor, Tom from The Remodeling Center, stepped up to the plate and offered his services to fix the cabinets so the countertops could be installed. This was supposed to be a 2 hour appt, but they were there ALL day leveling and installing the cabinets and installing a cleat. This of course pulled my contractor away from other things he was responsible for that day. When Bob finally arrived, he was not gracious in the least bit in the effort that Tom or the Solid Surfaces guys did to save me, the customer from having to be rescheduled. It would have been at least 2 weeks since it was around Christmas. In fact, he was accusatory that they were wrong about the cabinets, but I was there and saw with my own eyes, the large gap between counter and cabinet. Since Bob was never there for the initial installion of the island or the countertop, I asked him what I was paying him for. No answer. I also asked that he pay my contractor for the time he spent fixing Bob's problem. At first he refused, then he haggled the price, remember this is a 45k kitchen. At the end, we settled on $300. He never paid. The $300 is not the reason for writing this review, it is because of his reaction to his mistake and the unprofessionalism he showed to those that were working to make the customer happy. read more
