The clasp on my earring was stuck and I couldn't get it open without breaking it. I went to Robert's jewelry Store in Canton and I said, break the clasp if you have to; I will pay for a new one. The gentleman helping me said, I think it's fixable. The gentleman proceeds to fix the clasp and states, no charge. To my surprise, I was elated! Came in to sell a gold bracelet that I had originally purchased from him for $900. He was extremely vague about what he could give me for it and was pushing that I would get more value if I swapped it for a new one. Since I had been in his store countless times before and thought I could trust him, I decided to exchange this bracelet for a new one that fit more comfortably around my wrist. Trusting his word and his judgement as a Canton local (my family has gone to his store for years) I agreed to exchange the bracelet AND front an additional $200 for a new 14k gold bracelet. Turns out the new bracelet I got is worth about $250 in gold. What he did to me should be considered illegal. I'm a young guy and don't know much about gold, but I sure know a lot more now and I definitely know that my family and I as well as everyone I know from Canton will get a firm warning to never visit these back alley trenchcoat wearing pocketwatch salesmen ever again. Don't get me wrong, if you want repairs, they'll do it for cheap if not free, but that's just them lubing you up before they bend you over the first time you decide to do real business. read more

The store clerk was polite, understood my issue quickly (before I could even pace around the store) and fixed it at a very reasonable price. I went to this store a few years ago to look at engagement rings. Things were fine. Shiny happy people seemed to work there. I went in yesterday and it was absurd. First of all let me start this by saying I called a jeweler near me to find out what they charged to remove links from wristbands on watches. $5 As I was leaving to get my christmas gift sized I bumped into my neighbor in the hallway. I told her where I was going and she said, "Oh, don't go all the way to the mall. Robert's is right there and it's only $5. I just got mine done last week." Can't argue with that. Roberts would take me less time to walk to than the mall I was going to go to would take me to drive to. I got there and there were two men in the store. One, perfectly nice guy. Longer hair. The second, the man who sold me a watch for my wife and whom I spoke to about wedding rings addressed me before the door even finished closing. "Internet ring need to be sized or internet watch?" The phrasing didn't even register in my mind, so I just said watch. To which his response was, "Well, why don't you send it to the website you bought it from and have them size it for you?" Ok, so this guy is a little pissy. Fine. He continued to mumble about online stores as I was trying to explain the watch was only made by one store and only available there, and A GIFT which I had no control over where it was purchased. I went on to explain I hadn't even worn a watch in over a decade, I was only buying this watch because it was a collector's piece. So literally, this guy lost no business on the watch because he couldn't have sold it if he wanted to and I wouldn't have bought a watch if this specific one didn't exist. Did nothing to curb the attitude. It appeared Mr. Grumpy Pants got up on the wrong side of the bed and I was already a dickhead for accepting a gift that was bought online. So I started talking to the nicer gentleman about what I did for a living, and the movie the watch was licensed from. Then the phone rings. Nice guy answers it. It's for Kojak. He get's on the phone and starts bitching about how it's not busy just a bunch of christmas internet watch sizing and ring fittings. Jesus christ dude I'm sitting a foot behind you. I get it. The internet is eating up a lot of your business. One of my favorite bike shops has the same issue. And where will we be when shops close? Who will tighten our watches and size our rings? So you have to feel unappreciated when the day after xmas you're seeing a whole lot of work come through your door for items you didn't sell. I get it. Each piece you didn't sell is a reminder as to why it's harder to keep your lights on. But, this is why I don't give a shit. The guy sized my band, gave it back to me, then charged me twice what he charged my neighbor a few days before. Listen. It's 10 bucks, so I didn't argue, or even bat an eye. I paid the man twice what everyone else wanted, and twice what he charged a few days before. I paid double to put up with his attitude. But, while I'm empathetic to his position competing with the internet, he's also getting $10 for 5 minutes worth of work. He'd probably be entirely screwed if it wasn't for people going to him to get their things sized properly. So bite your goddamn tongue until I'm out of the store dude. Or, explain to me your position without blaming me for your position. I couldn't have been more clear about how this was entirely not my fault, and I shouldn't have even had to try and clear things up in the first place. So, if that's Robert, than Robert is a dick unless you have a bundle of cash. The man has dollar signs for retinas and uses them to size up exactly how shitty an attitude he's going to give you when he sees you crossing the parking lot. I'll gladly pay more to put up with less, however, it seems here you pay more to put up with more. I'm never going back. And yeah, I'm calling it ultra high end pricing when you charge twice as much as everyone else for a basic job you knob. read more

You can't find a better price. It's a family run business who know their stuff. Mike and Adam will bend over backwards to help you find what you're looking for but won't BS you for the sale. They definitely operate on the premise that they would rather build a longterm client relationship than a quick sale. I recommended them to a friend who needed a piece of costume jewelry mended. Mike thoroughly examined it and asked her how much she paid for it. When she told him, he told her that he could fix it but based on the construction it would break again and in the end she would probably pay more in repairs than originally paid. Robert's jewelry advertised buying gold so I decided to sell a ring I really no longer wanted along with an old chain my boyfriend had and a medal I had found. My mother had been in to see Robert a week earlier and said he was giving the best prices out of all of the jewelry stores she had visited with her gold pieces to sell. First Robert took my gold chain and weighed it. He cut me a check and I was pleased. He then weighed my boyfriend's chain and because it was very heavy, tested it to prove the real value. Turned out to not be real gold which was a bummer but we didn't have high expectations to begin with. Robert then looked at the ring I brought. It was 10k gold with diamonds and although he was not extremely impressed, told me he would give me $350 for it. I wasn't sure at that point if I wanted to sell it to Robert or make a new piece using the diamonds so I decided to wait. Before I left, Robert made it very clear that should I decide to come back, he will wait a week or a month, however long it takes me, and will give me the $350 then. A week later I decided that I definitely wanted to sell the ring and returned to Roberts. I pulled the ring out and immediatley Robert turned up his nose and said he just couldn't buy something like this. I reminded him of what he had said a week ago and he shrugged. He told me he could maybe give me $200 but that would be the most and he wasn't even sure he could do that. I was extremely upset as I had been counting on an additional $350 to add to my bank account. I was even MORE upset and turned off by the way I was treated. Robert had no patience and no filter for his mouth. He didn't take into consideration that he had given me his word and that I was originially a referral. I cant tell you know I won't ever be referring anyone to him now. He seemed to say exactly what was on his mind which was not kind or helpful. I walked out of the store with tears in my eyes and vowed never to return. His prices may be better than most, but his attitude and style of business is terrible, and who knows if he will even guarantee the same prices, should you need some time to shop around. Feel free to look around at the older style jewelry his store offers, but don't get your hopes up if Robert makes you any promises.... read more
