If you need orthodontic work, whether for cosmetic or medical reasons, Dr. Roberts is the best. I heard that he will soon retire, so if you're thinking about fixing your smile with Dr. Roberts, now is the time! I've had orthodontic work with Dr. Roberts twice, once as a teen and later as an adult. Orthodontics is an art and Dr. Roberts is extremely gifted. Not only did he straightened my teeth but he also reshaped them perfectly at the end of each of my treatments. He's someone that other doctors go to when they need orthodontic work done, which speaks volumes. As an adult, I needed minor work done but foolishly consulted with other offices in the area - one was extremely predatory and the other I went with b/c they gave me a great price for Invisalign at the time. I now know that it was a mistake. The office just focused on straightening my teeth without considering the overall aesthetics, whereas Dr. Roberts actually wants you to walk away with a beautiful smile (not just straight teeth). Fast forward 10 years later, I needed additional orthodontic work after a major fall accident. I thought I would need surgery to fix the dental extrusion but my dentist recommended that I go back to Dr. Roberts whom she knew had a lot of experience with cases like mine. At my consultation, Dr. Roberts took one look at me and guaranteed that he could have me looking better within 24 hours. I didn't believe him, but lo and behold he was right! The other thing I REALLY appreciated was while other doctors pushed for an immediate root canal, Dr. Roberts was the only one who prioritized my discomfort and well-being and the fact that I could not close my jaw properly after the fall and was unable to eat because of the extruded tooth. When I asked for his opinion about the root canal, before I needed to further explain myself on why I wanted to wait, he said, "Well, you have to be able to eat first!" His focus was my comfort and he also gave me hope that everything was going to be okay - and he was right. PSA: PLEASE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE after years of wanting the spaces in my top teeth fixed I (20yrs) decided to look into cosmetic dentistry. After seeing my dentist they recommended to look into braces rather than bonding etc to fill the spaces as cosmetics are expensive and would not last very long in comparison. After researching I came across this facility in center city (do not let location fool you). I was not interested in braces rather preferred Invisalign. During my consultation I was recommend by Dr Roberts to go with braces for a few different reasons. He told me that braces would be cheaper than Invisalign and in fact I would only need braces on my top teeth (bc of the spaces) PLUS I would only have them for 1 year. I decided that 1 year wasn't long in the grand scheme of things and that if it was cheaper that would be best bc my parents were the ones paying for the procedure. Finally 11 months later I went to an appointment to get my teeth tightened a final time. Except Dr. Roberts actually took off my braces instead. I didn't get a warning that day. At the moment he handed me a mirror I had to fight back tears. Not only were my teeth bulbous-y after the bondage he put on them there were STILL two large spaces in my teeth on both sides of my canines. He told me I would get use to the teeth and that there wasn't much more he could do since I didn't get bottoms braces and my jaw line wasn't perfect. HA I went home absolutely sickened and embarrassed not only did my parents put out their money for this but I had to show everyone teeth still misshapen and spaced. After my mother called Dr. Roberts as upset as I, he said we could set up to meet again as long as my mother was present to discuss options. Because I suppose. I at 20 years old was not adult enough to discuss things myself. Then when we tried to set up this meeting Dr. Roberts was on a summer vacation. To me the only explanations to this situation would be that Dr. Roberts has no interest in my procedure or that it was an effort to bait and switch me into continuing to spend more money there. I did not get my money back but hope that this will help many others save their own money, time and hopes. read more

I'm surprised to see two sub-par reviews here. Dr. Roberts did extensive orthodontic work for me while I was in college, and when all was said and done, my teeth were perfect. He put a permanent retainer on my top and lower front teeth, and they haven't budged at all. I had a dentist appointment yesterday, in fact, and the doctor said, "I'd be willing to bet you'll never lose a tooth in your life." Without Dr. Roberts expertise, I definitely wouldn't be in the position I am today. Not to mention that he's hilarious and the adjustment appointments were nothing short of enjoyable. I've recommended him to anyone and everyone I know who needed orthodontic work - I went from hating my teeth to them being my best asset! read more

I took my 15 year old step-sister here and Dr. Roberts was a straight up CREEP! I am only now posting this because it took her so long to open up about it. This took place over the summer of 2019: Dr. Roberts kept touching her spaghetti strap shirt and telling her what a pretty girl she was. He also insulted her prior orthodontics from a very good orthodontist we unfortunately only left since we moved. She was super quiet when we left, which is not like her at all and would not talk about it. I let it go but it came up in conversation recently and I am APPALLED at what she told me! She told me her spaghetti strap fell off her shoulder while he was examining her teeth and he put it back and told her she was "so pretty". It happened again and he did the same thing but this time she flinched at his touch and he got mad and told her that "we aren't going to get along. You probably should see another orthodontist next time". This man is a real sicko!!! To think he is working with mostly kids, tweens, and teens makes me want to vomit!!!!!! read more

Dr. Roberts did my braces over 10 years ago, and I honestly loved him! I'm terrified of the dentist in general but I always remember him being very patient and understanding of my anxiety surrounding having my teeth worked on. Now that I'm older I'm having some issues with my teeth again (nothing caused by the braces, they're still beautifully straight, just super poor quality and constantly breaking because of genetics-- thanks dad) and I'm seriously considering going back to Dr. Roberts if the work I need done is within his realm of expertise. I saw Dr. Roberts based on Angie's list for a consultation on adult braces (not a candidate for Invisalign). While the staff was very kind and informative, it sounded like the technicians do the work during the appointments and the braces are adjusted with them, rather than the physician on site. I also didn't feel that the recommendation made for me personally was the best fit for treatment after seeking multiple opinions. I had braces as a child and they were done incorrectly, so for me, this wasn't the right fit. As a note, there is no adult waiting area for appointments. Thanks for the response! Not confused at all, I visited the Center City location in August 2014 for my consultation and have since received treatment elsewhere. I stand by my opinions. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Roberts to have a (quote "old-fashioned") bonded retainer reglued after one side came unglued. A technician initially looked at it and decided Dr. Roberts might want to do it himself. She also asked if I wanted to keep my teeth as they were, to which I responded "yes", as I went through expanders and braces many many years ago. Once he came over and looked over my teeth, then the retainer, he proceeded to point out all of the flaws in my bite and teeth so that I could be convinced into buying invisalign. Upon convincing him that I was not interested in having more orthodontic work done, he suggested completely removing the retainer because "the teeth are sufficiently crooked so there is nothing to retain". I said perhaps, then I could use the removable retainer I still have. To which he scoffed and again tried to pitch the invisalign and tell me again how old fashioned my current retainers are. Seeing as my initial "no" was not enough of a reason for him to stop selling it, I told him I am a student, living off of a student wage and the $1500 is not within financial reason. I eventually convince him to just re-glue the bonded retainer, which had to be completely removed first-as expected. After grinding the old glue off Dr. Roberts said he had to readjust it to sit flush with my teeth. After 10+ minutes of readjusting he says "funny, it was just in there but it's too long now". More readjusting... and it finally gets glued back in. The retainer is surely not doing any (constructive) retaining now as it has been completely bent out of shape and only makes contact with ONE tooth other than the 2 spots where it is glued. At this point I wish the any of the following things would have occurred: 1: Dr. Roberts recognizes the botched job and tells me he simply cannot reglue it as it is so bent. At which point I'd revert to my removable retainer and have a new one made at my regular orthodontist when I'm able to go back home. 2: Dr. Roberts recognizes the botched job and offers to fix it properly, rather than gluing a crooked piece of metal in my mouth to get me out the door, seeing as I was not about to be a long-term customer. To bring things full circle, as Dr. Roberts is walking away, he comments to I'll be out of school soon enough... presumably to get my invisalign, of course. If you are looking to have long-term orthodontic work done, perhaps this place may suit you. If you need a quick fix for something orthodontic related, (as other reviews have also indicated) this is not the place to go as it doesn't fit with their vision to change everyone's teeth who walks through the door. I plan to fly home to have the job fixed-which evidently I should have done in the first place. (Two stars for having a clean, aesthetically appealing office and nice enough techs.) read more

No one wants to get complicated orthodontic procedures, but if you need to this practice is wonderful. We've only ever seen Dr. Roberts, and he's great. He explains what is needed and gives frequent updates on procedures. When brackets come free they always manage to get us in and see us quickly. After a consultation you will be given a price and a monthly payment plan. The staff is wonderful -- very helpful and friendly. The waiting room is clean and spacious, with Disney/Pixar movies running and even a few free arcade games in a little separate room. The location is central Center City, convenient to many bus routes and close to many stores and restaurants, including the Apple store around the corner. Our only complaint is that sometimes when it's busy there can be an overlong wait in the chair, but his happens only about 15% of the time. read more

From the very first consultation to the last visit when my braces were removed this office was friendly, professional and most importantly experienced!. Dr. Roberts his technicians and office manager coordinated seamlessly with my dentist for information, provided flexible payment / finance options and scheduled office visits around times that worked for me. Keep in mind, my teeth were bad before braces! My before and after treatment pictures could land Dr. Roberts a cover story in all the major orthodontic journals. When I was looking for an orthodontist who specializes in Invisalign a colleague of mine referred me to Dr. Roberts -- and I couldn't be happier! He is very thorough and takes his time to explain the process to you. As a professional in healthcare myself I am very careful with the healthcare providers I use. His office and equipment are clean, and his staff are courteous and helpful. After two and half years of treatment, Dr. Roberts fixed my crooked teeth with his dexterous hands and broad knowledge. As a matter of fact, I was little indignant over those biased comment. Dr. Roberts' expertise on adult orthodontic treatment is a real tour de force. Besides, Dr. Roberts himself is a real gentleman, suave, humorous and amiable. He has really good music taste by the way. Dr. De Marche is more of a sales woman than a doctor concerned with your welfare. She pitched me for 10 mins about the most expensive product, saying how much it is nicer it was from the product I desired more. She even convinced me that this product would be covered by my dental insurance (which, after I checked, was not the case). I listened and I asked some questions about the product she was pitching, which seemed to annoy her especially when she had to explain the inconvenient parts about the product. After she got the sense that I was not persuaded by her, she didn't want to have anything to do with me and left the room like a bat out of hell. The counter staff is extremely haughty and doesn't treat you well, which didn't surprise me after seeing the doctor's treatment. I really question the ethics of this practice. I tried the place as it was listed "Philadelphia's Best." This is a good place to go if you think poor treatment is a sign of superior people, otherwise I think Philadelphia and Princeton can do a lot better. read more

Was referred here to have a retainer removed. After having it looked at I was told I'd have to make an appointment to have it removed?! I said something about the appointment I had being for that reason & reluctantly my retainer was removed. Dr. Roberts did not even introduce himself knowing I was new to the office. I had to ask the tech for his name. I needed a bottom retainer and instead of a bottom mold they took one of my upper. I asked before leaving so they apologized and took the proper mold. Came back for my removable retainer & the retainer does not seem to be a problem however the offices communication and bedside manners are absolutely awful. read more

My dentist referred me here to get my retainer reattached on one of my teeth. I was seen quickly enough, the desk staff were friendly and Dr Roberts himself was pleasant, confident and knowledgable. My major issue with this place was the actual work done on my retainer. Whoever was fixing it (a technician?) did not listen to Dr Roberts instructions, cut the roof of my mouth numerous times with the little filing tool, and got so flustered with her horrible job that she ran away to get the Dr. He was able to fix her mistake well enough, and was cordial, but overall I am extremely dissatisfied (and in a lot of pain) after this appt. I had braces done here a couple years back and they were always accommodating to my schedule as well as they could and the staff was all very nice. Everything went smoothly with my braces, the only issue I had was with the permanent retainer. The first 6 months the edges of the permanent retainer became loose from the tooth and I would have pieces of metal sticking out scratching my lip. Whenever this happened the office was typically able to fit my in to their schedule within 48hrs. After multiple attempts to cement it back on they finally decided to cut off the edges so the retainer is only attached to 4 teeth. Overall a good experience with this office, I would recommend them to others. read more

My family has been going to Dr Roberts since my daughter was around 7 yrs old. My daughter has a medical condition that affects her adult teeth also causing her to lose teeth. She is now 15 yrs old. The work Dr Roberts has done so far on her, makes her beautiful face smile again! He and his staff are wonderful professionals. His receptionist Lisa is friendly, knowledgeable, professional and she does an excellent job to accommodate your schedule for appointments. went to office in lawrence, staff is very friendly, including dr roberts. staff doesnt seem to know what theyre doing, often prodding in wrong places which causes bleeding. after situations like this, they only give you a half hearted sorry. they also do not have time management, as when you are called in, it is normally 15-30 minutes before someone sees you. read more

I am quite surprised to see negative reviews of this practice. Dr. Roberts and his staff are excellent. I went to him after being completely dissatisfied with another orthodontist in the area. At the time of my consultation, I had other braces in place. They were very accommodating to this fact and tried not to remove too many of the brackets already in place to minimize the cost to me. I was in residency while going through this process and the practice was nothing short of amazing in accommodating my ridiculous schedule. My teeth came out beautifully, my braces were off in time for my wedding and my photos came out great. Dr. Roberts also referred me to other great dentist when appropriate. He is hilarious and great to have as a dentist. As a physician, I know what it means to have a busy practice and also be pretty much on time for patients. I would and have certainly recommended him to friends. Excellent service. read more

I am also surprised to see low reviews here, because my experiences with Dr. Roberts, the male orthodonist, have been a complete joy. I have found him to be straightforward, kind, and competent, with a good sense of humor to boot. He's meticulous and careful in his work, and the results have been very good as a result. Moreover, the front office has been very nice in all of my dealings, especially Lisa, the coordinator. I would like to give a special review for Dr. Roberts and his entire staff. Every time I come for an appointment, I am treated with dignity and respect. There is never a wait. There is always room for an emergency appointment. When you are in the care of Dr. Roberts he makes you feel just like you are family. I cannot thank Dr. Roberts enough for the miracle that he created with my mouth. No one would have ever believed it could have been done. Major construction was done and now I have a beautiful smile!
