The only negatives were that I thought that maybe some of their pricing might be a bit high and that the receptionist (call center?) didn't really know anything about anything.... Overall, I feel that Vanderford Air took my issue seriously and did their absolute best to get my repairs made. I will beusing them again and would recommend them to someone who wants reliable service.

Unfortunately, my experience over the last three years has been the exact opposite. I purchased a brand-new A/C system in July 2023. Within a week, it wasn't cooling properly due to low refrigerant. The same issue happened again in 2024, but instead of finding the leak, I was told to spend more money on a second return. They installed the wrong return box, damaged my ceiling, and later I discovered they failed to connect the drain properly, causing water damage inside my wall that I had to repair myself. In July 2026, the system again wasn't cooling. The technician confirmed the condenser coil was leaking, even though I had complained about refrigerant loss since shortly after installation. When I spoke with Service Manager Dan, he claimed there was no history of my previous service calls until I provided documentation. Rather than taking responsibility, he dismissed my concerns and refused to let me contact the owner directly. After negotiating, I agreed to pay $1,200 because I was promised the leaking coil would be replaced and the incorrect return installation would finally be corrected. When repair day arrived, the crew wasn't even Vanderford employees--they were third-party subcontractors. They showed up with the coil but knew nothing about fixing the return box. While working, one of the subcontractors fell from my attic ladder carrying equipment. I was more concerned about making sure he was okay than Vanderford seemed to be. I requested a call from management and never received one. After spending thousands on a new HVAC system, I've dealt with repeated refrigerant leaks, poor workmanship, home damage, broken promises, and a lack of accountability. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Vanderford Air.

All in all, Larry Ryan has my business and trust going forward. I trust his opinion and prices and I won't be looking for another a/c company.

The morning of I, received a call saying they had another call that morning right down the street from us and wanted to know if they could come earlier. Of course! Come on down! Three technicians arrived at the expected time and were very professional and just great guys! They explained that the A/C unit required a couple of pounds of Freon but it was nothing to be alarmed at. They blew out the overflow drain lines of any clogs, changed the air filter out and were on their way in no time. We were quoted anything from $11k-$26k, and Mabry's came in at around $8k. They came and installed everything quickly and efficiently, in a few hours. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. They knew what they were doing and did it well. Over the following years they have come out quickly for concerns and minor repairs, and have been more than fair with their pricing for these service calls, even when the issue was caused by other contractors, such as an electrician that didn't wire the HVAC to a new breaker box correctly. This morning I discovered the unit wasn't working, and that there was a breaker tripped in the breaker box, again. I called Mabry's around noon and spoke to Deborah, who was delightful, and they were here by 2:30, with Julio, who has worked with us from the very beginning, and Nathan, who I learned runs Mabry's. They diagnosed our issue, a bad transformer, within 5 minutes, and had it fixed in 30 minutes. They informed me that it was a warranty covered repair and got us back to a cool house quickly. They did send out the service guy Manny who just kept saying how "we should have bought the extended warranty service contract when we bought the new system in 2020 and so even though the part is under warranty their labor is not and wanted $2800.- for 4 hours work plus the refrigerant! I asked for an itemized bill SEVERAL times and never got one because they were severely OVERPRICED. I shopped @ and got two offers- one for a thousand dollars less and one for half the price- from companies that weren't afraid to itemized their charges! Also they said it would be a week for the part. As seniors in the Texas heat that is absurd! Other companies took the extra effort and got the part in a day and installed it before our elderly bodies were melted into the walls. They tested the system, found it was the lineset and gave me a price for the repair. The price seemed high enough to have included replacement of the line. After the work was almost done I saw the leaking line had been repaired, not replaced. I asked why, and they said they had not priced it that way and replacing the line would have cost more. They were willing to give me a discount on re-doing the work, but not credit for the repair I had never wanted. I cannot imagine why they priced a job differently than what I had said I wanted without at least warning me the work they were pricing is not what I had said I wanted.
