The cost was what we thought high ($750 for all units or $150 each). The tech was knowledgeable. One unit needed a new thermostat and he quoted $595 to replace it. He stated that two units had weak fan motor capacitors and recommended replacing them at costs of $218 and $185. There were other items he recommended replacement and one I agreed to because that unit had stopped operating. I declined the three items mentioned here because I believed the prices were outrageously high. The prices he quoted were for the parts as my "tune up" charge covered the labor for minor fixes. I looked up the prices for the three items: Thermostat: $75 Capacitors: $10 Each So, Roberts was going to charge me $998 for a thermostat and 2 capacitors that I can buy retail for $95 That's a X10 markup Anybody know a good AC guy in Galveston who works for a fair price?

We frantically called six A/C companies servicing Galveston only to be told by most that this was a very busy time and they couldn't promise when they could do anything. However two companies sent people to take a look and one of these actually inspected the equipment both inside and outside. This was Garcia's. Long story short, by Saturday afternoon, i.e. within just over 48 hours of our first call to them, we had a complete new A/C unit up and running. We cannot imagine better service, particularly in mid-summer, and the price was exactly what we had had been told it would probably cost by a third party who inspected it earlier. They tested the system, found it was the lineset and gave me a price for the repair. The price seemed high enough to have included replacement of the line. After the work was almost done I saw the leaking line had been repaired, not replaced. I asked why, and they said they had not priced it that way and replacing the line would have cost more. They were willing to give me a discount on re-doing the work, but not credit for the repair I had never wanted. I cannot imagine why they priced a job differently than what I had said I wanted without at least warning me the work they were pricing is not what I had said I wanted.
