They were courteous and an experienced, professional staff provided detailed explanations about the work being done or proposed to be done. Picked me and dropped me off, as well. Pricing is less than dealers and feedback was honest and sincere. They recommended new air filters, which is standard for most cars with notable mileage, but I declined. No big deal. My car was returned with no grease smudges (thank you!). I will definitely return for future service. And they have experienced diesel mechanics for my Super Duty.

I clearly explained my situation--that I didn't want to put money into the car, just wanted a price. The guy insisted he needed to see it, saying it could be something else. Thinking it might be a minor issue, I brought it in. All he did was check the transmission fluid level and scan for codes--both things that require no special shop skills. Then he told me I needed a brand-new transmission, not a rebuilt one. The kicker? He charged me $175 for doing almost nothing. If you're planning to have your transmission replaced, maybe they're fine for that. But for me, their customer service is a zero. I checked my own fluid and code scans are free at AutoZone--though I never had a check engine light, so no codes would have shown anyway. To make matters worse, they also charged me for a part I requested a refund for, which was never replaced, and they never refunded me. Terrible way to do business.

I inspected some parts of the transmission to determine they did nothing to open it up or diagnose the problem, other than scanning trouble codes. In search of a second opinion, I called Cottman and the service manager Scott happily spent 20 minutes on the phone with me asking questions to give me a more accurate picture of what the problem might be, and what the costs could be. A few weeks later I visited the shop on my way home from work (20 minutes before they closed) and Scott took the time to take a 30-minute test drive, plug in the diagnostic, and troubleshoot the matter. He said that there was a much smaller issue related to the transmission fluid temperature and said he could get the work done in under a day. I arranged for an appointment a few days later. Scott and Beth were happy to arrange drop-off/pick-up service to my office a few miles away. I couldn't be happier with their honesty, efficiency, and experience. In this day and age, even though I'm mechanically inclined, it's tough to find a skilled mechanic you can trust. When an employee of the dealership where I had bought my car told me I needed a new transmission…read morefor about $4,500 (May 2016), it was hard to stay calm because I was in the middle of applying for a mortgage, and my realtor told us to not purchase anything over $3,000 during the process. i called AAMCO in Feasterville for a quote, and Zoltan ("Z") immediately told me to bring the car in for an evaluation because half the people who call who were told they needed a transmission didn't need one. Sure enough, there wasn't anything wrong with my car's transmission. I did need a new air conditioning compressor, which was $736 installed. (I have mid-size sedan). Over the next year or so, I had the alternator, fan belt and the rear shocks replaced. It's a small shop, but they are honest and competent. The only reason I stopped going was that I had moved to Yardley, and it is now too far.
