Stay away from this dentist. Would give zero stars if I could. They overtreat to the extreme. Its all about taking your money not about supporting your health. I am surprised this practice is still in business given how they gouge their patients for unnecessary treatments. Can't get in for cleaning. Haven't had a cleaning since pre-Covid and since I'm retired, most dental offices don't take my insurance

Today I was scheduled for a cleaning. My hygienist Daria is always thorough and professional when she does my cleaning. I have crowns, veneers and bridges to deal with so my cleanings are a challenge and she does it each time with care. When I saw Dr Lawlor at Maine Dentistry I was a tourist staying in Portland. I had broken the front of my dental appliance on a cherry pit. The good doctor agreed to see me that day. His office is vey welcoming and his staff friendly and very professional. The Doctor reattached my broken device. He then had a heart to heart with me about how my treatment in California may have gotten off track. He researched alternatives and gave me a recommendation for California. In my opinion his timely advice helped save my dental health. This was for a person who was not even his patient on a regular basis. I am 63 years old and have been seeing dentists my entire life. If you do not have insurance, the office will not even see you as a human being. I recently recieved a lump sum of cash and I figured it would be a great time to get my smile worked on, something maine dentistry says they " takes pride in helping people achieve " Apon requesting infothe very first question was " do you have insurance?" They didnt even care what my issue was. Apon telling them Planned to pay cash and would even pay upfront if that got me in the door, they immediately stopped responding. I have recieved no effort to respond to my messages. This is the state of dentistry. Good quality dentists are reserved for rich insurance premium paying white folk. No one else is even given the time of day. Shame on you for calling yourselves dentists. read more

I had high hopes for this place. I was genuinely excited to go I heard nothing but good things. I'm not sure how the dentists services are because I didn't make it passed 30 seconds into a poor interaction with reception. I forgot my dental insurance card. My bad, absolutely. I tell them I can call my carrier and get them the information they needed. The words barely left my mouth before I got "weeell what we are going to have to do is charge you for today." Ok...nope! I'll reschedule them..."weeelll that's a $75 reschedule fee..." your kidding right? 30 seconds through the door and they tried sticking their hand in my pocket twice! Thirty years ago, a good whack in the mouth with a field hockey stick caused my two top front teeth to die. I was left with yellowish brown teeth and subjected to root canals. I lived with a smile that embarrassed me for a long time and the only thing that I could afford was internal bleaching which was only moderately effective. In retrospect, I'm glad I couldn't invest in crowns back then because I wouldn't have enjoyed the technology that is available today in combination with the amazing results that Dr. Lawlor and his team provided me. Crowns have come a long way since those obvious and oversized ones of yesteryear. My case was rather unique and challenging because my other teeth are a grayish tint thanks to exposure to tetracycline while in the womb. Matching those teeth to my crowns required several photographs and a really great laboratory. Although I was happy with the first crowns that came back from the lab, Dr. Lawlor is a perfectionist. That is what you want in a cosmetic dentist. He sent them back and a week or so later, I was fitted with new front teeth that look so natural and feel so real, I honestly can't believe they're not. Dr. Lawlor and April made the whole experience interesting, painless, and actually a little bit fun. Now I am going back for regular cleanings with Donna, who is a fabulous hygienist whom I've known for years. Dr. Lawlor still takes a few minutes to check on my teeth. Hard to believe, but my crowns are hard and sturdy enough to withstand corn on the cob and other favorites that I thought I had to give up. I couldn't be happier and will sing the praises of Maine Cosmetic Dentistry to anyone willing to listen. Thanks a million to the entire staff at this beautiful and welcoming establishment. read more

Carolyn is super friendly and great at what she does. She makes you feel comfortable and relaxed when clearly going to the dentist Is not your favorite. Shes great at multitasking and getting the job done. She's the type of person you only see 2 times a year, but feel like you've been friends forever. The office staff are all great too, so friendly and welcoming. And of course the cookies are a real thing. It's not made up. went in for a cleaning today. told i needed to have a special cleaning which involved more than one visit. when i refused to have procedure done they refused to clean my teeth. never have i gone to a dentist in 63 yrs and been forced to have procedures i didnt want or felt i needed in order to have my teeth cleaned. i left with no service. be prepared to have all this high tech machines and procedures done. he has to pay for those machines somehow. read more

I've always disliked going to the dentist but this office is wonderful from the front office staff to the hygienists and Dentist too. They all go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable and at ease. I also love the fact that there is a mini fridge in the waiting room with bottled water, as well as fresh coffee and snacks when you arrive.
