When I politely asked the hygienist to wear a mask for our visit, she responded "Sure. But it's not mandatory and that's something we embrace here." I stopped short of the entrance of the room's entrance and said that if wearing a mask was an issue I could go to another practice instead. I appreciated that she put one on after that, but the comment was unprofessional. When Dr. Shane Bryant came in, he was wearing his mask only over his chin. When I asked him to put on his mask properly, he told me he was already wearing one. I had to ask him again to put it on properly to which he responded he would put it on once he was facing me. Mind you he was standing right next to me this whole time in an enclosed room. When he left the room at the end of the visit, he saluted me and I noticed his mask still wasn't covering his exposed nose. As I was leaving today I told the admin staff that I wouldn't be returning and explained why. My request for that extra layer of safety was not respected. I didn't want a culture war, I just wanted the medical professionals putting things in my mouth to mask properly. Growing up, my hygienists and dentists typically wore masks and face shields, this was long before COVID. I think it's really shameful that anti-masker types push back so hard against basic human decency. Masking really ought to be mandatory in medical settings still. But at a bare minimum, your medical providers should be happy to wear a mask if you request it. They work for you. As our government and institutions continue to ignore a public health crisis that has taken the lives of millions, the only leverage I have is to take my business elsewhere. Don't let your medical providers disrespect you if you have the option to choose someone else. I usually communicate my preferences ahead of the visit and that usually prevents days like today.

From the moment I walked in the door I felt reassured and confident that I would be treated with respect. Kim and Sunny were an absolute joy. They both went above and beyond to get me the help for my dental issues in a prompt and courteous manner. The other lady at the front desk is pleasant and kind as well (sorry, I did not catch her name). Doctor Alan Chebuske is the very meaning of what it is to be a doctor. I have seen many doctors in my years and can honestly say that I have never met one that made me feel as respected, reassured and calm as this doctor. He was pressured for time but it never showed. He made me feel like every moment he had to spend with me was the most important moment to him. He paid attention to me as a whole and did not once disregard anything I had to say and was therefore able to reach a full understanding of my overall dental needs. I never knew that my back pain played a roll with my neck and jaw pain. I simply cannot say enough about his gentle and kind manners. I must also mention that his education is apparently supreme. Like I said, I've never seen a dentist that knew so much about how everything works together. If you're looking for the BEST general dentist in Portland then look no further! She's hurried and she'll do the thing that will give her the most money and leave you hanging. She'll put a crown on something that is not able to sustain it. putting a crown on just to make money. It's true it's true it's true. Her senior dentist in that practice is dr. Chbosky and he is awesome beyond belief., but he ended up giving me my money back for the crown she put on a tooth that she filed down to nothing. I am so disappointed and unhappy with her work. It's important that you know that she's very kind and very rushed and just plain unable to repair teeth. I'm left with a mess to fix. I will not get the mess fixed by dr. Chbosky even though I know he can do it. I have to say that dr. Chbosky stands by his people and that's usually a really good thing unless his people is the dentist that does the work on you taking two very good teeth of mine and making it so I need to have extensive dental work on two teeth that will cost thousands of dollars because of her ineptness. I'm not unkind. Office people especially Kathy are amazing and caring. I want you to know also that there were complaints on this site that were erased. This is the second post that I'm putting on. I just don't want you to go through what I'm going through. No smiling because the teeth behind my cuspids on the top are missing. Because of her work. I have worked in dentist offices before so I'm very aware of what's going on even though the technology has changed. I pray that you don't hear any animosity here. I just don't want you to get hurt like I've been. I'm going to the dental school in Portland to get these two teeth fixed repaired at a really low cost. I can't afford to have dental implants anywhere else. I've spent a lot of money with them. I hope this review helps

Dr. Anders and Dental Assistant Crystal were each attentive to my shifting needs while in the chair and worked very well in tandem to create the most positive and effective visit possible...under some pretty intense circumstances. (I can be a very anxious dental patient.) For me, it all boils down to human touch, attention to detail and sensitivity. It felt more like Dr Anders was painting rather than drilling. I was aware of Crystal's gentle touch...and one or the other gently using his/her/their pinky finger on my jaw to steady a hand and achieve precision. Unbeknownst to me, I have - literally - driven across the country to find the dental team with 'the right touch.' It's expensive, but you get what you pay for...and they accept CareCredit, which removed any anxiety from the 'how am I going to pay for this thing I need??' part of the equation. The front desk staff did everything they could to help me navigate to their office (without gps or cellphone). Thank you Erin, Jody, Colin, Susan. Have I left anyone out?

PHENOMENAL Dental practice!!!…read more But first, a little history...I was recently given a rather dire prognosis during an emergency visit to my former Dentist. I left her office in shock, with little explanation of how the current problem could have occurred, and a paper copy of a referral to an oral surgeon. I was basically left to fend for myself without experience and was completely overwhelmed. This came as a shock, so I began looking for a second opinion. In speaking with the Reception staff and Patient Coordinator at Peak Dental by phone, I was immediately taken by how present they were in listening to my situation and working to find an open slot to fit me in right away. Once there, I was greeted warmly and they spent over TWO HOURS hours with me, talking/listening, examining, photographing, reviewing transferred X-Rays and creating a path forward out of the mess I had found myself in. I can honestly say that Kaitlyn is the best, I repeat - THE BEST, Dental Hygenist that I've ever had the pleasure to be treated by (I'm a huge Chicken...Dental anxiety doesn't begin to describe it!). She was incredibly present (great listening skills), patient and gentle in performing a thorough examination and forming an assessment. We were then joined by Dr. Anders, who reviewed the transferred X-Rays, along with new images they had taken during Kaitlyn's examination. Dr. Anders explained the situation and possible causes in great detail and patiently addressed all of my questions. They formulated a treatment plan that would not only address and resolve the situation that I had found myself in, but one that would all but guarantee that something like this will NOT occur again! Lastly, I worked with their Billing Rep to work out the finer details - she was funny, knowledgeable and super helpful! Needless to say, I have switched dentists and will now be a happy client of Peak Dental Health from this point forward. As a side note...The folks at Peak Dental truly understand the importance of up-to-date technology and have all of the bells and whistles that you would expect to see in a larger, metropolitan dental office. When I first moved back to Maine and discovered that a 'deep cleaning' consisted of a Hygenist trying to slip a metal pick 5mm under the gumline and sadistically scrape away for 45 minutes, I thought I had accidentally taken a wrong turn and ended up back in the Dark Ages...Folks, it's stuff like this that makes Maine look like a cultural backwater. You will NOT encounter the low-tech approach at Peak Dental or their staff - You'll be in great hands!

I wouldn't want anyone else to go through what I have, and I feel responsible for speaking out. As I write this, I am still in a great deal of pain almost two years later. From the beginning, my experience at this office was frustrating. I came in with significant pain, hoping for real solutions, but instead, I was given round after round of antibiotics with no long-term plan. I made it clear which side of my mouth was hurting the most, yet somehow, work was done on the opposite side--something even the dental assistant questioned out loud in the room. After that, not only did my original pain persist, but new issues arose where they had done the unnecessary work. I ended up worse off after multiple visits, and some of the teeth they worked on only deteriorated further. The only bright spot in this office was the dental assistants. They were the only ones who seemed to listen and show any real concern. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the actual dentist, who ignored my concerns multiple times, or for the front desk staff. If the conversation wasn't about payments, they didn't seem to care. The front desk woman, Elyse (or Alyssa), was incredibly rude and dismissive no matter how much pain I was in. I was met with indifference at best, and outright rudeness at worst, every time I called in for help. This whole ordeal has taken a serious toll on me, both physically and financially. I trusted this office to help me, but instead, I've been left in pain, out a significant amount of money, and still searching for real treatment. I don't take leaving a review like this lightly, but I feel like people deserve to know what kind of experience they may have here.

Each day that I am blessed to work here, I continue to be impressed by the excellent patient care and relationships Dr. Myers has built with his patient's over the years. If the patient is on frequent recalls for their cleanings, and not due for their exam that day Dr.Myers will always still come in to say hello to the patient, which is something I have never experienced in the past. Dr. Myers always takes the time for each and every patient, remembering intricate details about their life. For New patients, they always see Dr. Myers for their first appointment. This is something I have not experienced at any other office, and it sets the stage for building a strong & trusting dental relationship with Dr.Myers. He formulates a treatment plan specific to each patient, and reviews this in depth with them explaining and showing them the reason for each recommendation. Aside from this, I have hands down never seen such beautiful dental work that lasts!!! Most of the patient's are holding steady and are meticulous about their oral hygiene. I have worked as a dental hygienist for many dentists throughout the state, also temping for several years.
