However, at some point-- I had to change dentists (maybe my original one left the practice?) and was informed that I URGENTLY needed a crown. Something in my gut told me to get a second opinion-- and surprise, surprise -- my tooth is perfectly fine. A little discoloration, but no crown needed. Apparently, my only real problem was walking into a practice more interested $ than caring for its patients. This place gave major "scammy car mechanic" vibes -- which left me with a BAD taste in my mouth-- pun intended.

I called around to some local TMJ specialists and she was scheduled for appointments in August or November. That didn't help her now. Despite not having a TMJ specialist on staff, Valley Dental Health agreed to see her the same day I called. They took her in and gave her an exam. They wrote her a script to help deal with the pain and offered some people that she could follow up with for additional assistance. One of those people was able to see her within a day or two. While Valley Dental Health couldn't assist my wife with her specific issue, I appreciate how they brought her in and examined her in a timely manner, provided a temporary solution and offered some referrals that got her on the road to recovery.

After examination, he suggested I need braces on top and bottom because my bite was not correct and was causing stress damage to my front teeth. I agreed. Beforehand, I did have braces on my top teeth as a teenager but after not having my retainer they did move. Treatment started in January 2016 with pulling out one of my bottom teeth to shift the midline and correct the bite. Treatment was supposed to last 2 years. $6,800 plus some 30-40 visits later (5 years and 8 months later) the braces finally came off. He took his time. He listened. He cared for how I wanted my smile to look. He went above and beyond to make me happy even though it took him so much more time since my case was so complicated (skeletal misalignment issues ). I called my insurance to give me a list of doctors and every office I called seemed irritated that I called, very little patience. I found Dr. Ford on Yelp and took the previous review as a good enough reason to give him a try. I am so glad I did. I called to set up an appointment and the woman I spoke to was incredibly kind and patient. Scheduled me to be seen in a short time and even made my follow-up appointment at the same time. I felt at ease! The day of the appointment there was no waiting, it was a friendly and clean atmosphere and everyone was nice! It's hard to find that in healthcare professionals. Dr. Ford is knowledgeable, caring, patient (and I needed that) and honest. He let me know all the options available to me and let me decided. So many doctors try to push things on you that you don't even need! He walked me through everything that was happening and that is so important. He didn't rush through anything, he seemed to genuinely enjoy his craft. His staff is just as great as he is and I don't think I'll need another dentist in a long time!
