Bob spends plenty of time explaining what he has found, whether it needs to be addressed immediately, or if it can wait.

I have been a patient at EZ Smile for over 11 years, and am happy with their office staff,…read moredentists, and services. Veneers, crowns, implants, and regular cleanings. And I highly recommend Ozzy, the hygienist. The first time he treated me was for a deep cleaning, which was expensive, but worth it. I had problems with infected and bleeding gums, but after his deep cleaning, those issues vanished. He is very thorough, and very quick at his work. Also very personable. I complimented him to Dr. B., and told the doctor: "Ozzy is good. Keep him." Fortunately, Ozzy has been my hygienist every time for the past few years, and I go to EZ Smile every four months.

Disappointing experience - concerns regarding clinical environment and pricing transparency. I wish…read moreI'd read the reviews before going there! I am sharing this review to provide a transparent account of my experience. I went in for a "free" exam with x-rays from a coupon that came in the mail. I knew I needed at least a filling on my back tooth and it turned out I needed a crown as it the tooth was cracked (although now I wonder if I really did...). While the final crown was completed, the process left me with significant concerns regarding clinical standards and patient care. 1. Significant Pricing Discrepancy: I was charged $600 for services that are listed on the office website for $300. While I signed the financial documents in the high-pressure moment of a fractured tooth, the 100% markup from their advertised price feels predatory and lacked the transparency I expect from a healthcare provider. 2. Clinical Hygiene and Equipment: As a healthcare professional myself, I was deeply uncomfortable with the appearance of the office and the clinical equipment. The environment felt outdated and, more importantly, the hygiene I observed did not meet modern standards. This created a baseline of anxiety throughout my treatment regarding my physical safety. 3. 'Predatory' Treatment Planning: I felt there was a heavy focus on pushing optional future treatments and memberships rather than focusing on the urgent care I arrived for. This created a lack of confidence in the clinical judgment of the office, as the focus felt more like a sales pitch than comprehensive care. At my final visit, the dentist told me I had several cavities though the first dentist said they were stains. When I went to check out, I was presented with two estimates for crowns that they said the dentist told me about. I let them know this was the first I was hearing about it. 4. Miscommunication causing emotional distress: I was given incorrect information by the last dentist I saw which caused me significant anxiety and anger (I had told the front desk I did not want flouride and this dentist told me she had put it directly under the crown). I sat in these feelings until the end of my session there until I could talk to the front desk. They told me it was a misunderstanding. 5. Inexperienced dental assistant, poor care: While one dental hygienist was excellent, the other one was clearly inexperienced - she had to be told what to do by the dentist and I, myself had to move the suction from my cheek which was painful to another area. The cleaning I got (that I had to press for as they had first scheduled it for when I got my crown on, but at the appointment, told me it was not scheduled. After insisting for some time, they finally agreed to do it), and it was subpar - he used a grape flavored gel but did not polish my teeth for very long, and was brusque. I sent a letter advocating for my concerns directly with the owner, but the response was defensive and focused on technicalities rather than my patient experience. I believe patients deserve an environment that feels both physically and financially safe so I will not be returning, even though I've paid a significant amount for the year of dental insurance and the one crown (almost $2300). I would encourage others to be very diligent in checking pricing and clinical standards here before proceeding

Let me start out by saying that I HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST!…read more It's the most uncomfortable feeling in the world when there are people pushing stuff around inside your mouth and telling you to open wide! But Dr. Chin and his staff make the whole dentist-going experience at least bearable. They are very professional and sanitary and make the whole hour go by very fast. Their receptionists are very friendly and helpful too!

It was very difficult to get my parents established with this practice. Initially, I tried to…read moreoverlook concerns because I understand healthcare offices can become very busy. Unfortunately, we experienced repeated issues with communication, follow-up, and professionalism. After my mother had a tooth extraction, she was sent home without clear after-care guidance. She experienced significant bleeding through the gauze and was unable to reach anyone at the office for assistance. She ultimately had to call another dentist for advice on managing the bleeding. A few days later, she still did not know whether her stitches were dissolvable, which should have been explained at the time of the procedure. Only after she followed up were arrangements made for stitch removal. More recently, my mother received a crown and experienced severe pain once the numbing wore off. She could not chew and even lightly touching the area was painful. I suggested she request a bite adjustment. Again, no one answered the phone, so she went directly to the office and received an adjustment, but her pain continued. She was advised to take high doses of pain medication despite her age and history of renal insufficiency. She took only what she felt she could tolerate safely. At her next appointment, which was scheduled for a filling, I attended with her to discuss pain management concerns. The assistant who prepared her was kind and explained that the nerve may need time to settle after the previous procedure, and we appreciated that explanation. When Dr. Scarfe arrived, the interaction became uncomfortable. He expressed frustration that my mother had not followed the medication recommendation. I explained that she had concerns due to her kidney function and asked that we speak respectfully and professionally. During the discussion, he acknowledged that he did not know her current labs but continued to insist the recommended dosing was appropriate. As I translated for my mother, the conversation escalated further and he ultimately declined to continue treatment. At that point, I agreed and chose to leave the practice. I thanked the assistant and receptionist for their help and accepted the referral that had been provided. As a healthcare professional myself, I found the interaction disappointing. My concern was not disagreement about treatment recommendations--it was the manner in which concerns were addressed. Patients deserve individualized care, respectful communication, and consideration of language barriers. If communication is difficult, interpreter services or designated contacts should be used. I cannot recommend this practice based on our experience.

Should you select Santa Rosa Oral Surgery for a procedure you'll find easy access and ample (usually door front) parking. Reception is very efficient and pleasant to deal with. Reception room is pleasant as well but you won't be there long. All my visits have found SROS to be very timely. First visit is meeting your doctor for a concise analysis of what procedure you need, informing you of just what that procedure entails, while ending with staff lining up any insurance you may have and giving you your next appointment. During the actual procedure I had forgotten how many assistants are used and was momentarily afraid that they were there to hold me down! Hah! Hardly. Extremely efficient, each person has their duties and the process is the proverbial well oiled machine with Dr Tyco explaining each step along the way. As quick and painless a dental procedure as I've ever had. A prescription for pain meds was provided but unnecessary. All I felt was a bit of sensitivity for a couple days. Just as my first visit. After the healing process it was one last visit to confirm a successful graft and I was done! Dr Tyco and his staff are the kind of professionals you want...and deserve! No question who I want should the need for oral surgery arise again. It will certainly be Santa Rosa Oral Surgery and Dr. Tyco.

The clinic is spic, every one on the staff team seemed helpful, the lady at the reception who enabled the check in and the forms filling; the surgeon assistant who took us through the process in detail and answered our basic questions before Dr. Rogers taking over, explaining and sharing his frank opinion and thoughts, and the lady advising on the finances and the insurance coverage. Though this was our first experience with them, would like to recommend Santa Rosa Oral Surgery's team for your oral surgery/implant requirements.
