Unfortunately I would not recommend this dentist anymore. I have been going to this dentist for around 20 years. This place has gone down hill the last few years... The wait to get seen can be up to 6 months. This was the case when I had to reschedule. I guess they were low on staff or punishing me. I don't know if it is because the dentist doesn't pay his staff enough or or what. But darn near every time my wife and I are in, he has new staff. A revolving door of new staff never seems to be a good sign. As for Dr. Chera he is a friendly but not overly friendly person. He definitely has the feeling of being in a rush when he comes in the room. He is very knowledgeable and try's to connect your whole health with your teeth. Very minimal contact with the dentist, on checkups he pokes his head in and looks at the x-rays pokes around in your mouth real quick gives a few notes and is OUT! For the last 5-6 years he must be partially retired because he is rarely in the office to look at your teeth or X-rays. When he was in his old office before he bought his current location it felt like he was trying to make a name for himself and went the extra mile. He would go out of his way to stop in and say hi and chop up a little conversation. He was ALWAYS in the office. He didn't exude the feeling of being in a rush. The funniest part of him acting all rushed is sometimes his personal office door is open and he's just kicking back in his office. In a rush to get back to your solitaire game or something? He isn't overly pushy about filling cavities that don't need, but his staff are not so much. Example the Dr. Says we need to keep an eye on a couple teeth and I'm like ok, he says it's no rush like you need a filling now. The staff asks if I would like a quote, I was like sure may as well see what I'm getting into since insurance is a joke these days and doesn't cover the whole job!!! The front desk gives me a quote and then calls like every 2 months asking if I want to schedule the filling. Sheesh the dentist just said we want to keep an eye on it not that I needed it done. Then I get a notice that they are dropping our delta dental insurance because they don't pay enough... sheesh I already have to pay the difference what else do they want! My wife calls them up just to be courteous and let them know that we will not need our dental appointments in the future. The lady asks why and then says we aren't dumping your insurance for another month, do you want to schedule those fillings before we don't accept your insurance... Hell no! We have been loyal patients for a huge portion of your working career and we are kicked to the curb?! You are still trying to push one last squeeze of our money before we go... Sorry the relationship is over. You aren't the nice family dentist that I reffered so many patients to. You are just resting on the existing clients and doing the bare minimum to keep the money rolling in. It's a shame this place was great for 15 years! read more

This dentist took over/bought this practice from my old dentist who was amazing. I had to reschedule an appointment at the last minute due to COVID exposure.. never cancelled an appointment with them before. The receptionist Linda was clearly upset with me, (life happens) - I could not go for a dental appointment knowing I potentially had COVID... But he did not care, in-fact the receptionist told me " the dentist said to just come in." I got charged a cancellation fee even after being a loyal customer and excusing past screw-ups on their part. Needless to say I am never coming back here, all they care about is the $$$ no customer service, the receptionists are rude, rude, rude,, and the dentist does not take any accountability/responsibility whatsoever. I am always impressed with the staff. Everyone is friendly and professional . I appreciated being told exactly what was happening and what to expect next. I had a cap come off on one of my tooth. I called the emergency number on a holiday and Dr. Chera called me right back. The front office staff, Joni, called me the next day to schedule an appointment at noon to fix my tooth. We have been going to Dr Chera now for years and are sad to be moving far enough out of the area to need to find a new dentist. Dr Chera is available when needed for emergencies, thorough in making sure you understand options and very sensitive to patient needs while in the dental chair. I have big anxiety about dentists. I've never enjoyed going and I'm hesitant to say that I like going to the dentist. However this dental office has been incredibly easy. They're kind and refreshing to be around. I have no anxiety when I come to this office because I know I am great hands with the dental assistant and dentist. I haven't seen a dentist in over 8 years. They accepted me immediately and was seen and taken care within a week. They also was able to take both my kids. I really appreciate them and their work. Other dentists had a few months minimum waiting period. They are straight forward and no bs. read more

Im disappointed to feel I need to post about the rudeness of Dr Chera's new front desk person. I think her name is Alyce. I have been going there for over 15 years and I've even stayed loyal by switching insurance providers because I had a great relationship with his old hygienist and receptionist - both of whom have left him this past year. Not to mention Dr. Chera himself is a good dentist. Basically, I had an appointment scheduled 3/10/22 and when I called and asked for help in understanding how much I would be paying - after just a few sentences - I was hung up on over the phone. I was upset and didn't trust her to follow through so I went down to the office. When I got there Dr. Chera asked her for the "pre-auth" (basically a quote from the insurance provider for the work offered) and there wasn't one, just excuses. The painful part is neither Dr. Chera nor the new receptionist took any responsibility or accountability for her unprofessional behavior. Now because of this interaction, I feel uncomfortable going back and will change my dentist. So, if you're someone who wants to be spoken to respectfully (heaven forbid you have a question or need some explanation), I would avoid this office. read more

My family and I have been helped by Dr. Chera and and his wonderful team for many years. I greatly appreciate the excellent and friendly care they consistently provide. Recently I had an urgent situation in which a crown became loose after many years of use. Dr. Chera was kind enough to respond to my after-hours phone call and arrange to meet me in his office first thing in the morning. So I'm not a regular patient of Dr. Chera. I can only speak as to my experience coming here for an emergency. Because of Covid-19 my regular dentist was not seeing patients. I booked an appt. with Dr. Chera for a crown that had visible tooth decay underneath at the gumlines and under the crown. His staff was pleasant and supportive while I was seen. He acted professionally. The office had a nice environment and distancing of chairs for patients to keep their distance. He explained what needed to be done and was very gentle. I am a dental chicken (and a senior one at that) . . . so, when my wonderful dentist of the past 10 years closed her practice and referred patients to Dr. Chera, I was (to say the least) panic stricken to have to see a new dentist! I have inherited bad gums from both parents and have had to endure cleanings in the way-back past that at times were "white knucklers" in order to keep my own teeth. Have you ever held your breath and felt your shoulders creeping up while at the dentist? Shredded a tissue in your hands as you nervously got your teeth cleaned? Had anxiety the month before a dental appointment? And then canceling the day before? Yep - that was me. But, meeting Dr. Chera and his staff for the first time (and this was as covid was starting up) was not what I was nervously/anxiously expecting. From my first visit back then to my latest this week, I have found his practice to be a non-intimidating place to be! His staff is courteous and helpful, and Dr. Chera is gentle and informative. So appreciative of the entire staff! I'm in town without a regular dentist, and chipped a tooth on Friday evening. The sharp, broken edge was like a razor blade cutting my tongue. Yes still 5 stars! I really like this Dr Chera. I went in to finish my dental work from my emergency (crowns, a cavity and prep for implant) and handled it like second nature while explaining the whole process to me. Not once did I feel uncomfortable, slighted or taken advantage of. He even calls to make sure (im sure during emergency's) to see how the healing is coming along and if everything is ok! I was referred to Dr. Chera by a trusted friend and colleague whose family has been seeing him for years. I am congenitally missing two teeth, on either side of my front teeth. I'd looked into dental implants, but this wasn't recommended due to my small teeth and bone structure. So I was looking at bridges (basically 6 fake caps/fake teeth in the most prominent spot in my mouth). I needed to find a dentist that knew how to do bridges well, and could match the color and aesthetics of my other teeth. Well, Dr. Chera did an amazing job and exceeded my expectations. The bridges look amazing, like real teeth and they perfectly match my natural color. He's knowledgable, gentle, quick and kind, and does beautiful work. My family and I, including my brother's family, all have used Chera's services for about 6ish years, maybe more. All in all, most experiences (cleanings) for me were pleasant, this was until it was time to pay for dental work. My husband has never enjoyed his experience at this office. He continued to go because he was too busy to search for a new dentist, as well as for the fact that I was fine going here. Every time he went, my husband felt pressured to get work done that he didn't feel as though he needed. He also felt that I was gullible and did work that was unnecessary. The reason why we left: There were a couple occasions where they gave me quotes to get some work done, and I agreed to them. Once I received the services and I went to the front desk to pay the amount that we agreed upon, they charged me much more. Not just 20-50 dollars, but more towards $300+. Not okay. We left about a year and half ago due to this fact. On a side note, my brother's family left, prior to us leaving, because they felt the same as my husband, and they thought his services were overpriced. The reason why I am writing this review today: The work (crown) that I received and was overcharged for, just crumbled. This should not happen in less than two years. Such a bummer that I need to go pay more on this crown that probably wasn't really needed in the first place. read more

I've been going to Dr Chera for years and he is a really great dentist. They used to have an amazing dental hygienist but I haven't seen her in a couple years. Ever since then, the dental hygienists have been so-so. However, this week I had an older dental hygienist with short, brown hair. As I was in the waiting room, she came to the front desk to vent to the receptionist about her previous client and all of his health issues. She took me back to get my teeth cleaned, and apologized that the room stunk but "that last guy had really bad body odor." Then, she told me about his health history and all the issues he had. This is completely against HIPAA Law. After my cleaning, I saw her stay behind to talk to the receptionist. I can only imagine that she was sharing all of my business too (and there were people in the waiting room, too) Dr Alin Chera is awesome and the receptionist has always been very sweet and professional (and didn't engage in talking about clients, just listened.) However, this hygienist completely turned me off of coming back. read more

Banned me from their office for getting a second opinion on facial pain and swelling in my face from an unknown condition. They don't know a damn thing about me and apparently this offended them to the point of banning me. I am absolutely disgusted by that decision. Never bothered to tell me this until I called for an emergency appointment and then when I was searching for a better time that suited me I got a voicemail today saying don't come here. The best part is that both the receptionist and dentist refuse to tell me I am banned they just rather say f'off and go away and you can't schedule here. So tell me why you can't say the word "banned" and prefer beating around the bush. This place is run by pretentious d bags under the guise of wanting to help people. On a trip to Forestville, CA, I split a tooth in half. OUCH! After researching dentists in the area, I found Dr. Alin Chera on Yelp and called. Joanni was so awesome with me on the phone that I decided to make an appointment. She worked me into their busy schedule for the next morning. Marjea (from Finland), dental assistant, was friendly, kind and professional - putting me at ease. Dr. Chera was knowledgable and professional. He explained what he could do to assist me in the short term and would consult with my regular dentist for the long-term repair. He made sure I was comfortable before working on the damaged tooth. I would highly recommend Dr. Chera. He and his staff are wonderful people who truly care about their patients.
