Dr. Stellpflug was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgable. He spent ample time explaining my case and options. Even after meeting him for the first time I can tell he really cares about me as a patient and is willing to go the extra mile to find solutions for my dental needs. The office is clean, relaxing, and comfortable. Julie provided great information at the end of the appointment regarding my treatment options. I made an appointment as a new patient since I got new insurance. After filling out the paperwork, I waited about 25 minutes to be called in. A patient had arrived after me and left before me. When I got called into the patient room, the dentist came in and had a seat. He asked me why I was there and I said for a cleaning and x-rays. He responded with "You're just here for a cleaning and x-rays?? Why couldn't you do that with your previous dentist?" in an unfriendly tone. I said because I got a new insurance. He kind of just looked at me and then got up and left. I felt so unwelcomed by this and even asked the dental hygienist if he was a general dentist because he made it sound absurd that I was there for a cleaning. He was the dentist my new insurance had assigned to me by default, I didn't specifically pick him so like don't flatter yourself. He came back in the room for the cleaning and let me tell you, it was so painful, literally the most painful cleaning of my entire life. He did the metal scraping part and it felt very rushed too. I kept on flinching due to how painful it was. He was even trying to talk politics with me. He asked where I was born and if I was born there or here in the US. After that, he started mentioning BRICS. I thought that was super unprofessional and I felt very uncomfortable. After he was done with the scraping part, he told the dental hygienist to finish the rest and left. I have to say, the dental hygienist was really nice to me, she was trying to comfort me but I was so done at that point. If you're a new patient coming in for something simple, don't. This guy clearly only cares about money. What a terrible first impression for a new patient. I'm never going back there again. God forbid you go to a dentist's office for a cleaning and x-rays. Edit: I'm posting this review over a year later because after visiting a new dentist, I was reminded of why I had to switch offices again in the first place. In response to the owner's reply, this review was intended for the office located at 2 James Way, Suite 207, Pismo Beach, CA. I did not confuse this office with another practice. The experience described in my review is my recollection of my visit there and the reason I chose to seek dental care elsewhere.

I'm leaving this review because I stumbled on his yelpsite while looking for ortho and was surprised by the low stars. Majority of the low reviews seem like billing or scheduling issues, which seem more front office related. I did personally did not have any issues with the front office or feel rushed, but these concerns made by others do seem valid. I printed out my insurance info stating they covered extractions with no co-pay and they said it would still be another $500. They wanted to take more x-rays and ignored me over and over when I said I only wanted a tooth that hurt pulled and had no money for anything else. I had over $1,000 coverage on my insurance which would have covered one extraction, but they refused to do it without an extra $500. It's humiliating to repeat a half a dozen times I did not have it. They are simply just set up to milk insurance companies and don't care at all for people with limited funds. Michelle treated me like I was stupid would not shut up and ended up hanging up on me. They insisted in taking more xrays saying the insurance would cover those. I told Michelle I couldn't pay for any treatment, so what's the point? They (the doctor) are clearly concerned only with milking the insurance companies. Meanwhile my tooth still hurts.

I relocated to the central coast in 2023 after retiring from the SF Bay area;…read moreI had an excellent dentist there for 20+ and missed her expertise; Due to my new location and new dental plan, I tried 2 other dentists in past 2 years: both were OK, but one practiced solo with (no other dental tech assisting) and the other was referred to me but, but after I visited, I was told the actual work I needed to have done was going to be done by someone else in her practice (who I could find NO information about....) -Another dentist referred to me by some other friends was "in network" with my dental plans, but was not accepting new patients... -THEN (finally).... ANOTHER friend referred me to Bauer Dental; I did a lot of research and was impressed by their website and the technology they utilize in their practice. I set up a consult from their website, got a consultation appointment set up rather quickly, and got to meet with both dentists, Dr. Bauer and Dr. Sivo to discuss a treatment plan. I should note that they are "out of network" for most dental plans, and they did explain the costs of their treatment and options for payment plans. My decision to choose Bauer dental was based on the professionalism I experienced from my initial visit, where I met with the dentist, their office staff, and dental tech, Jose, who performed X-rays and scans. I honestly did not like the options for some of the other "in network" options offered by my dental plan. DENTAL APPOINTMENT SUMMARY: -I just had 3 cavities repaired and a replacement crown put in by Dr. Sivo, and the experience was aabsolutely painless and the work looks and feels great. Dr Sivo, and his dental technician, Alex, explained everything and answered all my questions. They have the technology to make a dental crown in their office (and since I had these types of dental crowns previously, I never wanted to go back to having a temporary crown for 2-3 weeks, and then to having to have a return for the final fitment of the permanent crown). The entire visit, including the buildup and placement of the new crown, took only 2.5 hours. I was not rushed, and neither were they- It just seemed to go that smoothly and efficiently. IN SUMMARY: Frankly, I did probably end up choosing (by FAR) the most expensive option of all the previously offices I mentioned; However, I don't recommend looking for the "cheapest" option when choosing a dentist; I do recommend doing a LOT of research. I have (unfortunately) needed a lot of work done over the decades (I am 65) and I believe in paying for high quality dental care by dentist with extensive education and training. Bauer Dental exceeded my expectations for a high tech dental office They seem to be most advanced dental office I have ever visited, utilizing the latest digital technology and high end equipment, operated by their well-trained team, and I have lived in over a dozen cities around the U.S. If this type of practice appeals to your standards, I do recommend Bauer Dental. Also, They do offer options for different types of flexible payment plans, if needed.

I'm pretty much in shock with the amount of money it cost to have two crowns glued back on…read more I had two crowns that were joined together on my top previously finished implants by a dentist in Fresno and they popped off together. Called Bauer this morning, and while they advertised first visit free, I was charged $340 as it was a last minute appointment. Okay, I needed it done so, I agreed. I brought the teeth with me and after a full evaluation, they said the gluing on would be $690!! What was I to do? I needed the teeth on and while I visibly was shocked, I agreed. Yes, $1030 later, I walked out of there with a future plan and the price but I'm still reeling with what I just paid them!! They sort of grossly overpriced themselves for me to go back. Yes, everyone is really nice and the office is beautiful, but I just wanted the tooth glued back on and I'm so shocked by the charges, I doubt I will have them do further work. Too high of an overhead, too many people working there and I should have listened to my gut instinct on the phone this morning. I have never in my life been gouged like this to have a 10 minute process done, I should've left and bought my own dental glue. Literally, I'm sick to my stomach!!
