Dr. Woods is AWESOME. My elderly kitty Karuna has megacolon and chronic constipation. He hadn't had a serious incident since 2011 when he was initially diagnosed, but after I moved in late Feb 2014 into a new place with another kitty cat, all the changes/stress triggered a few bouts of massive constipation/obstipation. I initially took Karuna to another vet, who did ok with the treatments, but I didn't like his "bedside manner," and I also felt that Karuna needed a more holistic approach to manage his condition. I found Dr. Woods, and tried to set an appointment. Initially, because Dr. Woods was so busy, I wasn't going to be able to get Karuna in for awhile. But then Karuna began experiencing another episode of massive constipation, a few days before I was supposed to go out of town. I called and emailed, and Dr. Woods' office kindly worked me in to give Karuna some immediate relief via an enema, IV fluids, and acupuncture. Dr. Woods also gave Karuna a vitamin B12 shot, and proscribed a new stool softener powder to add to his food. The combination had Karuna back to his normal, happy, feisty self in no time. Dr. Woods also recommended doing another xray and bloodwork again -- and I'm happy I didn't hesitate, as these revealed both arthritis in Karuna's back (compounding the constipation issue), and seriously reduced kidney function (which can be managed with regular sub-C fluids). Dr. Woods was so kind and took the time to sit with me and explain how we would approach Karuna's care to keep him happy and healthy for as long as possible. Dr. Woods is hands down the best Vet I've ever seen. we went right into the room...no waiting. He spent over 45 Minutes, listening and sharing viable health information specific to my dog. He advised us on health and diet solutions rather than drugs. examined my dog and what I left with was 1 reasonanly priced bottle of vitamin E oil, 2 free toys, a free toothbrush and a cool roll of doggy bags for walks that attaches to the leash. Most vets keep you waiting 30-60 minutes, then see your dog for 5-10 minutes and sell you a bunch of drugs. It was the best vet experience ever! My Brucey boy was happy and we are well on our way to getting his allergies and ear infections under control. Plus his staff was super friendly...loved on my pup and made us both feel very welcome. His office doesn't care. You need a back-up vet if you go to Dr. Woods as if you have an emergency that won't take any time, they insist you go elsewhere. You can spend thousands and they take in the money with no concern or interest in your dog. My friend's dog could be in serious trouble because she tried to get help and they were open and refused to even take a quick look as they did not care. She had spent thousands at the vet and they did not care. All they care about is how many thousands the emergency will net them. read more

Very impressed. Dr. Woods is very gently, and a true empath in tuning to your dog. He had our rescue's Papillion's medical and subsequent behavioural issues pegged almost immediately. I'll echo everyone else here by saying that Dr. Woods and his staff are the absolute best! Dr. Woods is a very realistic and reasonable doctor who doesn't try to push the latest and greatest technology on you just because it costs more. Everyone in the office is so kind and they truly care about their patients which is a rare thing nowadays. Another bonus is that I don't have to hide the fact that our dog is on a raw diet ;) We brought our big rambunctious Lab here after having an awful experience at another veterinary office. The "bad" office had diagnosed our boy with a partially torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that would require a $4,500 TPLO surgery. I wanted to consult with Dr. Woods to see if prolotherapy could be an option as I wasn't convinced that such an invasive surgery was necessary. After taking an x-ray and an ultrasound of the knee, Dr. Woods informed me that our dog's cruciate ligament was in fact NOT torn in any way! Boy am I happy that I trusted my gut and decided to get another opinion. However, our dog does have some mild unilateral hip dysplasia so we opted to try the prolotherapy on the hip to see if we couldn't tighten up the ligaments. I adopted a 5 lb, 11 year old dog who had not been spayed, and had 9 tumors as a result, which needed to be removed. She also had a few infected teeth that needed to be removed at the same time. Dr. Woods performed the surgery and not only was he compassionate, he personally kept me informed throughout the day on how my dog was doing. It's been a year since then, and my dog is doing better than ever. Thank goodness the tumors were benign. To perform such a complicated surgery on a small, senior dog takes a lot of skill. I am extremely demanding when it comes to my dog's health and am very particular with who I want to work with as a vet. I ask a million questions and it is sometimes annoying for many vets. Today I had my first appointment with Woods and am extremely happy with his clear explanation and knowledge. He took the time to answer all of my questions (didn't seem annoyed with my many questions) and seemed sincerely concerned about my dog's health. He discussed several options with me related to diet and homeopathic remedies we can try. I absolutely adore Dr. Woods and his staff. They are the most friendly, patient, kind and helpful people out there. Dr Woods is very knowledgable and has great energy. My dog likes him too. I've been taking Kona in to get acupuncture every couple of weeks and it is truly amazing the results we have been seeing. I did not want to pay $5000 for an MRI and disc surgery like the VCA tried to have me do. Kona is 12 years old with compressed discs in his lumbar and cervical spine area. Upon our first visit, Dr Woods took digital x-rays (that were not expensive) and found out the problem. He then treated Kona with acupuncture and gave us some natural herbal pain medicine and some supplements. Over the course of 4 months I have seen Kona improve dramatically. His back is no longer hunched - it's just about completely straight and he doesn't look like he's in pain because his demeanor has improved also. I have been taking my cats to Dr. Woods now for over a year. I live a bit out of the way of his office but it well worth the drive. Their staff was the first vet's office I have ever experienced that seemed to actually and genuinely care about my animals. They are so kind and approachable and talk to my kitties just as silly as I do. When I had to put my beloved Siamese down last summer they were there for us and sent us a sympathy card afterward that really helped. Dr. Woods, Hannah and their team are the best possible choice for both an all-around and a holistic veterinary group. i wish I knew about them many years ago and any new pet I may get in the future will be in their care from day one. My six year old cat, Tattoo, has had an unfolding illness for the lastt five months -- bouts of lameness, horrible rash/bleeding/scabbing, generalized lymph node enlargement in her neck, arms, groin --- and congestive heart failure after a biopsy of her lymph node. While she is also under the care of specialists for her heart and her somewhat mysterious immune disorder, her quality of life and positive shift in a noticeable healing direction began after her first session with Dr. Woods. He treated her with laser therapy (it works!), homeopathy for her heart, inflammation and nervous system (it works!), along with supplements for her heart and natural plant steroids (she can't take corticoids because of her heart condition). When I was told by the internist that she had non-regenerative anemia, Dr. Woods prescribed a homotoxicology remedy for her blood and several weeks later the count has risen to within the normal range! My 7 1/2 year old German shepard mix all of a sudden was swollen in all 4 of her legs, having trouble breathing and couldn't wag her tail so I took her to our regular vet. They tested her, tried medicines and had no answers for me except its an idiopathic autoimmune disease/ polyarthritic disease. None of the traditional medicines worked so I asked my vet for an acupuncture referral and he sent me to Dr. Woods. They were booked but said they would keep me in mind if there was a cancellation. I have been going to Dr. Woods since my pups were babies and needed their initial vaccinations. I went to another vet with the pups' mother and when they were first born, but chose to go to him since my friend referred me. I loved how cautious he was with spacing out their vaccinations and medications to not overwhelm their small bodies. The other vet wanted me to do everything within a couple weeks and I was scared that it would hurt them by having so many shots within a short period of time. I also love that he gives me natural options to treat them and will give me advice over the phone. I may pay a little more for him since he also offers holistic services, but you get what you pay for! I will gladly pay a bit more for someone that cares about my dogs' well being instead of turning a dollar or getting them out ASAP to get another client in immediately after. read more

Dr. Woods is just all out fantastic. I have 2 cats that are retired research cats. One has survived cancer and over 14 surgeries and the other was feral for her first 10 years of life. Dr. Woods is just amazing with them. He's done acupuncture 5 or 6 times to help heal a slipped disk after we had moved and my 12 year old cat over did it with the new stairs. 3 other vets told me she needed surgery, high doses of medication and one even suggested euthanizing. I am so glad I found Dr. Woods because after his fairly priced treatments and a suggestion of a natural joint supplement (extremely cheaply found compared to the prescription capsule supplements most vets suggest) my cat has been pain free for over a year. I knew I wanted to try acupuncture but wasn't a fan of the places I found because the vets only did it once a week in such a small window, how can they be proficient at something they do so rarely. But Dr. Woods does it all the time 6 days a week. I originally only went to him for my cats alternative treatments as I had a much closer vet that my family has used for 20 years on all our animals, but when one of my cats needed another surgery I just didn't feel comfortable sending her to my regular vet as she has a history of bad reactions to anesthesia. Dr. Woods was more than willing to do the surgery even though he hadn't been the examining vet (who wasn't even in his practice!). Not only did he do an amazing job and my cat recovered quickly but he was 20% cheaper than my original vet quoted me. Now that he's opened his new practice I find myself going more and more to him and less and less to a vet down the street. Yes I wish it wasn't a 25 minute drive but I just feel so comfortable with him and his treatments, they seem to be thorough, effective, and well priced (cheaper than my main vet, and now at his new place it's cheaper than North Tustin Vet Clinic as well). Dr. Woods is always friendly and so is his staff and they never try to up-sell me anything I don't need. In fact they often go the extra mile with things they think will help and not charge me the add-on price, because it's what's best for my cat. Our pup was having back problems and after a visit to the Animal ER we decided to try acupuncture, we found Dr. Woods and after seeing the reviews decided to go see him. Our appt. was for 8 am and I am happy to say we didn't have to wait! Dr. woods looked over the xrays and we made a plan for recovery. Next he did the first session of acupuncture, he was so gentle with Bogey that she was calm and let the needles go in. We had to wait 15 minutes with the needles in her and she was so calm she feel asleep. He did recomend some vitamins for her and some new food to try, this morning our pup seems to be better. We are hoping for long term good health for her and with the suggestions from Dr. Woods I am sure we will. read more

I have been going to Dr. Woods for about a year and a half. He and his staff are always amazing. They are kind, caring, and very available so I don't know what anyone is saying about limited availability or them asking you to pay first and upfront. I had tried to see a local vet near me in Dana Point as it's a 45-minute drive for me to see Dr. Woods, but that mobile vet mishandled my dog's blood sample and then told me she had kidney failure! This after having been in Dr. Woods' care. Dr. Woods took one look at the bloodwork and said he thought the blood sample was mishandled. He retook it and sure enough all levels were normal. I really appreciate the way they will work me in whenever I need to see him and call you back with results right away -- if not while you are still in their office. Dr. Woods doesn't push anything you don't need and he really cares about your pets. I would never see another vet for my dog. read more

I went in for holistic consolation for my puppy's first exam. I loved the advice from Dr. Woods and his approach on my puppy's wellness. He was caring to my puppy & really listens to my concerns. I did not feel rushed. The location is in an industrial location which confused me to locating it. The waiting room, exam room are small but nicely decorated and clean. I will be back to Dr. Woods' office again and he is my puppy's doctor for life. I thought our first visit with Dr. Woods went pretty well. He took some focused xrays and determined that my 8 1/2 year old golden has the beginnings of RA. We determined that I should continue the glucosamine and turmeric with his food, and that we should use a ramp for getting in & out of my truck. Swimming is good for hips. The only thing was that he recommended a mild pain killer, but after I left, it occurred to me that an anti-inflammatory with pain killer would be better. If I had more money, I would do accupunture, but it's out of my budget. read more

Took our dog here for a second opinion about her knee injury. Unlike other places his first inclination was not to immediately to opt for TPLO surgery. He was very honest and open with us about his opinion. In the end, the TPLO operation was needed. Our dog is now recovering well at home. The staff has been very kind to us. The best of the best. I highly recommend Dr. Woods because of his expertise in both holistic and conventional treatments. I personally don't like using conventional hard drugs from which side effects can be more worse than the treatments itself so I rely more on holistic remedies. And am I glad I found Dr. Woods. My old boy is 15 and has numerous ailments like glaucoma, tracheal collapse and heart murmur, and I've only been treating him with nutritional supplements, herbs and homeopathic med. I feel he's doing good so far in terms of energy and vibrancy. Dr. Woods is so friendly and down to earth, and the ladies at the office are great too. Some people may think he might be somewhat expensive, but when you calculate and look at the "big" picture, you are actually saving money. Some treatments actually are cheaper than my local vet's. I live more than an hour away so I can't really drive up to his place more often than I want to, but he's the very first vet ever that I took driving time just to see him. He's that much of a gem. I know what I'm looking for and I like to ask questions due to curiosity and when I'm not sure of certain things. He's always ready to answer and give you advice via email or even phone. My dog was sick he can barely walk he have a problem with his hip. I have been though four moves and 5 different veterinarians in the time that I have had my cat, Missy. During this time I have had very mixed experiences with Vets. My experience this pat weekend with Dr. Woods was absolutely exceptional, however. As an acupuncturist, I am holistically inclined. Dr. Woods blends the perfect combination of alternative veterinary care with modern technology and testing to make sure that my fur baby is not only disease-free, but also HEALTHY. I appreciate his usage of the tenants of chinese medicine to provide nutritional and wellness counseling for my pet. I take my dogs to Dr Woods because he listens to my concerns and offers suggestions . He doesn't try to sell me products or treatments for my pets that I am not ready to commit to. I have had 3 acupuncture treatments done on my 12 year old dog and it has gone beautifully. She was choking and gagging several times a day especially during activity and now much less frequently. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats that are my "kids". I recently relocated to Long Beach from Colorado and my dogs had fleas for the first time in their lives. I did a yelp search for holistic vets and found Dr Woods who had great reviews. I called for an appointment and got in the same week. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr Woods wasn't quite as "hands on" as I had hoped. He barely touched my dogs but he offered to do tider tests on them rather than just vaccinate so I was happy about that. He also suggested doing full bloodwork on my older pup. As it turns out, he had hypo-thyroidism. He also offered several options/ideas for holistic flea control, which worked like a charm.
