I attended a 1 hour yoga session at this library today and it was good. It was my first time visiting and the library was easy to maneuver right from the parking lot to the study rooms. They have quite a few interesting sessions scheduled for Fall and Winter and I might visit again. read more

I can only echo the previous reviewers sentiments. Staff don't want to be there and it shows. There is ZERO customer service here, whoever is in charge is failing miserably. You'll never see anyone enjoying their time here or being eager to return. Staff make it very clear that they are not to be bothered for any reason. I stay far away from them, and thank God for the self-checkout machines, but I've overheard them speaking rudely and harshly to several people. Rude in a way that I wouldn't be to my dear husband during an argument! Just verbal nastiness! I've seen all races/ethnicities similarly berated but it does seem to be worse when English is not someone's first language. If we're not welcoming of those who seek to learn at the public library then why are we funding it? It sickens me every time I hear it. Kids? Geez, you don't want to bring your young offspring here, they seem to hate them the worst. Book selection is sad, so very sad. Almost every book I get I have shipped in from another library in the system. Maybe I should just go to another library but dang I like the proximity of this one. There have been several books the database says are there at that location, but they aren't, and no one knows why. It's happened enough to make me say this is a recurring problem. My library card expired 5 days ago, honestly I'd rather go to the DMV for a renewal than the front desk here. *Please note I've seen the rude customer "service" from EVERY employee at one time or another, this is not limited to a certain person, this is a top-down management failure. The concept of libraries being a quiet place to study is no longer true... at least not at this branch. Even in the "quiet" study of the library, the staff did not do a very thorough job of enforcing this as there were some guests who were very loud and the staff did nothing to address. As a matter of fact, one of them added to the noise and continued to do so despite the glares of those around him. On a different occasion when I came, I asked one of librarians to help me find a missing item and was addressed with a sigh and a response that it was impossible to find. It was disheartening to see little care placed and I felt that I was bothering this staff member. read more

I take my one-year-old daughter to this library every Friday for baby story time, and we love it. Afterward, I let her walk around the kids' section a little bit and pick out some picture books to read. As a working stay-at-home-dad, it can sometimes be hard to find good activities where my daughter can socialize with other babies her age. Here I can watch her blossom into a social butterfly and reinforce her love of reading at the same time. Also, she loves to dance to the music with the other babies! read more

YES, THEY STILL EXIST! Using this library has become a bit of a challenge because of its shortened hours. You really need to call before you come to make sure that it is open. Besides books, you can also check out various CDs for movies, self-help, books and music. When our kids were younger we would visit the library just prior to vacation to pick up free CDs that we could watch during the drive to our destination. It is a nice way to keep the kids occupied during a long drive. Ocee also has activities such as yoga, tutoring, music for infants etc. You will need to check their web site for details. I love that they now have a self-check area to allow you to check out your own books and expedite the process. Be ware of this location as it is literally swarming with kids in the summer time as it is a prime location for students who want to volunteer. read more

My family and I are frequent library users. We maintain membership at more than one county library system, and visit several branches within each, so I feel I have a good idea of what a library can be, as a way to compare. My children are voracious readers, often checking out 30+ books each week (and reading them). While I have nothing but praise to sing about the Fulton catalog (huge depth in their stacks - you just need to request the books as they are mostly stored downtown), this particular branch is seriously lacking in customer service. It is a terrible thing for a child to be uncomfortable and feel unwelcome in a public library. Unfortunately that is the case at the Ocee branch. Heck, even I feel uncomfortable there! It is like a visit to an elderly aunts house. The one where plastic is on the furniture and you aren't allowed to sit or touch anything, you dread going each week and count down the minutes until you leave. The librarians are cold and distant. When asked direct questions by an adult, they may (or may not) answer helpfully, but when asked by a child, the attitude given is that they are being interrupted and it is a burden to assist. I expect my children to be respectful while in the library; they should be quiet and polite while walking through the stacks searching for books. I do not demand that they not ask questions or discuss books, etc. while there. There is a difference between expecting appropriate library behavior, and the outright tomb-like environment that the Ocee librarians seem to expect. Children, especially children who are actually looking for books and asking questions about authors and book locations, should be encouraged and assisted. It is my expectation that the librarian will work in partnership with the parent to help create lifelong lovers of books. The librarians at Ocee appear to have a different goal than mine. read more

This library is NEVER open when I come. They have changed their hours but never bothered to update their website, so you get the kids in the car and drive out on a Thursday, unload the kids, get to the door and see a sign posted. Oh! NEW hours, including being closed on Thursday. That didn't impress me. Also, don't think of getting up and taking the kids to the library on a nice Saturday morning. They don't open until 1. It is so hard to manage to arrive at a magical moment when the doors are actually OPEN, that I am considering never using this place again, even if it IS the most convenient to my house. It is NOT convenient when it is never accessible. read more

The librarians in this library are simply awful! They have been down right nasty to me on more than one occasion. There is one lady there that seem to not be able to smile if her life had depended on it. Horrible horrible horrible. If it weren't so convenient to my house i would never step back in there. read more

This is the closest library to my home and I've visited it about once a week for 7+ years. The staff is horrendous. Over the years I've experienced some pretty poor service (like Karen telling me that my daughter, at age 3, was too old for the babies and toddlers storytime-while I was in the class with my daughter!) but my experience last week takes the cake. I went to pick up a few books at about 10:15 am last week, with my 4 year old daughter. We checked out our books and she was so excited to read them that she couldn't wait to get home. So we sat down at the nearest bench and started reading. Even though there were literally zero other patrons, I was still reading in a "library voice". The librarian was passing by and rudely said "is there a reason you're sitting here reading out loud?" Are you kidding me??? Who says that to someone quietly reading to a child IN A LIBRARY?!?! So we left and the whole drive home my daughter wanted to know why that lady was so mean/why did she want us to stop reading/why did we have to leave. So insane. I can only hope that when they renovate in July, they renovate the staff as well. read more

I love this library. It's a great place to study and to relax. I applaud the librarians (Karen is my favorite). They have a hard job. Some people allow their kids to run wild and they get offended when the librarians do their job and say something. I want the library quiet. I go here all the time and have never had an issue. The librarians are nice, free wifi, the library is always clean and parking is great. What else can you ask for? :) read more

The head librarian was very helpful in assisting me a book that was lost. She helped me to get the issue resolved so that I would not have to continue dealing with the issue. She also updated my old library card. read more

Rude front desk staff, and very unfriendly. The lady at the front desk always seemed impatient with my questions and tried to get rid of me. Definitely not coming here again for anything. Most unfriendly library staff I have encountered. A middle age to elderly woman answered my call and was very rude. She even hung up on me in mid-sentence. Very basic questions concerning library hours etc. Wow. I hope they see these negative reviews and improve customer service. read more

I love this library! I know everyone has different experiences, but all of my experiences have been positive. The staff has always been helpful and I like the use of space in the building (many cozy nooks to hang out and read while waiting for my kids at swim team across the street). read more

Staff members are VERY RUDE all the time. I am scared to go up to them, so I make sure I use the self check out. It's sad that I don't get to self check out dvds. Books are outdated. They never have any books I am looking for. I wish there was another library close to me but there isn't. I've never been to a library like this one. read more

The book and DVD selection is poor, but that is not enough for me to take the time to write a review. Helpful staff and clean library for kids. Huge kids selection for all ages. Internet and library catalogue computers readily available. Kids' favorite books are in short supply, but the interlibrary loan works very well. The staff is always friendly and supportive! read more
