I have never been talked to so rudely by a professional in my life. I was referred to Robert by another lawyer to get a consult on a case I am dealing with. Before even hearing my story Robert told me I must be doing something wrong. His exact words, "well you have a dead baby and you're in dependency court for the second time, you must be doing something wrong". Not only was his comment premature (as he only asked me 2 or 3 questions before determining I was a horrible parent) it was completely insensitive and rude. I can see why he no longer practices dependency law (even though his reason was "it cost to much"), I feel it's because he doesn't want to take the time to understand the patents. Praise God I was able see his true colors before I spent any money on him. I can only pray that no other innocent person looking for help makes the mistake of calling Robert. I was referred by Tri Valley Housing Authority (an agency that's supposed to help people w/ financial & housing issues). I was advised his services were expensive, but he was the best. I have only hired one other attorney before - for divorce. That time I got a free consultation & the attorney didn't waste time. Mr. Jacobs doesn't give free consultations. He stood at his computer typing while I told him my situation & what I was thinking of doing. Once I was done, he sat back in his seat & 'processed' the info. He informed me that this could take some time & leaned back again in his chair & 'PROCESSED' - some more?! This was costing me money each minute he sat there! Then he came up with these ideas that wouldn't work for me - such as filing for bankruptcy to eliminate a mortgage loan. The loan is not in my name - which I already told him! Then suggested ideas that would cost me 15-20K. Most of my issue is that I am newly divorced & can't afford the house I live in & was also left with IRS debt. Yet, he kept finding things that would just keep me in debt. He was nice enough to hand me a tissue -WOW! I was told how lucky I was to be referred to him - that he doesn't usually toot his own horn, but he was very good at what he does & could shop around & not get the experience/expertise he could provide. Again, I am being charged by the minute, $5.83/minute. I couldn't sum up the courage to tell him I was done. I was so desperate for some good advice that I just sat there & listened, but finally felt none of his 'processing' was getting me anywhere. I told him I would think on the info, knowing full well I would not hire him. I was shocked when he handed me the bill. As it turns out my appt lasted 132.08 min & was charged for every one of them! I think I was even charged for the time it took him to sign for a UPS package during my appt - he never stopped the clock that seemed to run the min he stood at his computer. I realize I took up his time, & he gave me advice, but feel like it was just a waste of money I don't have right now. Though I don't have much experience w/lawyer interactions, I would think the person should just listen (taking a FEW notes) instead of typing everything I say, then having to 'process' it. My advice: look for a lawyer that does offer FREE CONSULTATIONS! read more

I went to Robert highly referred by a friend. I was there less than half an hour and we didn't even look at the Real Estate documents. The documents have to do with R.E. and 70% of his biz is R.E. law. I already have Probate referrals, Tax Attorneys, etc.etc. This particular area is in need of a R.E. Attorney and that is what I have been advised by Many other attorneys in other Fields. Being I work with many Specialists I was looking for an Honest man to tell me the Answer that he does know but he wouldn't tell me, sadly.
