I'm not sure if John is just a really busy guy and some of his cases take the back burner or he's just another shady lawyer. When I first contacted John regarding my issue he seemed enthusiastic about helping me. He even offered a plan of how to deal with the issue. That all changed the minute I paid him the retainer fee. After that he was increasingly difficult to get in touch with. His plan that he first spoke of during our initial consultation seemed to have gone out the window. Instead, he just kept giving me solutions for how to handle the issue myself. His excuses ranged from being too busy to feeling like the situation would be better handled on my own. At the end of the day, I asked for the balance of my retainer back. Basically he charged me about $850 for offering no more help than a Google search. read more

Using an alias. Very disappointed. Seemed great at first, but service deteriorated as time passed. Responses to requests were not timely. Once I received "sorry I was on vacation" after a week or more. Great. Turn on a vacation auto-responder, perhaps? When I attempted to share my dissatisfaction, my concerns were hand waved away or ignored. Worse, I felt like he added no value to the interaction. It seemed at times as though JR was working for the opposing party, not for me. I'd have rather handled things myself looking back. It never got better. Did not receive a final invoice, just a "We do not work together anymore" letter with a few hundred extra dollars (surprise) missing from what was left of my retainer.
