I have a lot of hair, and it had not seen scissors or color since early January, except for that frightful bangs trim I gave myself. I was a little nervous about the reception I would receive. When I arrived for my appointment, I was greeted by Daniel, who checked me in and offered me a beverage. I accepted the offer of water, but that Mimosa was pretty tempting on a Friday afternoon! Shortly thereafter, I met Gianna. What a love! We hit it off right away. And she didn't hate my hair! She looked at a photo of how I'd like it cut, we talked about the color and since it had been so long, she took 2" off the ends, cut a bunch of layers into the style and gave me the refresh I so desperately needed! The salon itself is nicely decorated and trendy. There are several style stations and a separate room with more stations and an area with sinks and an area for mixing color. All of the stylists and assistants were friendly and really appeared to like what they do. It was nice to see that the stylists supported and complimented each other's work. I booked a return appointment when I paid and truly look forward to going back. I will definitely recommend Whip Salon to my friends! I'm sorry, I didn't take photos!

This franchise location was bought in 2019 by a stylist known as Marcelle Tiffany. The salon is tastefully decorated, making most of the limited space. Parking is easy. Of note, the salon is acting as a trailblazer of sorts ... participating in the Local Green Salon initiative, in which chemical-contaminated metal waste from color treatments are recycled. Wondering about the name? In a Nov/Dec 2019 SalonToday.com article, the franchise founder, Amy Pai, claims it's a slang term for hair. As it's the first reference I've come across, perhaps it's a term she created to help the franchise stand out. Adding to confusion, the "slang" term is popularly used as a verb in salon promotions (e.g. #getwhipped ) , inviting speculation about the origin of inspiration. Definitely brings attention!

Before each event, we went through a trial process as well as numerous Pinterest boards to nail down the right look. Stephanie is extremely talented, and has worked with a number of different skin tones and hair textures. She is extremely patient and works really hard to make sure you are comfortable. She was the perfect person to have around the morning of my wedding- she is fun, bubbly, and has such a calming presence. I stopped at Riccis's on a weekend, the gentleman at the front desk was very knowledgeable and and spent a good amount of time helping me book my appointment, I specifically asked for someone that was good with blondes and adding some funky color, like purple. He said that Taylor would be good for me. Needless to say, I was so excited to get my hair done, as it had been a long time. I arrived on time for my appointment. When my stylist came to greet me, I could immediately tell that she did not have good energy. As someone who had never been there, or having been a new customer to the stylist, Taylor, I was expecting her to greet me with a modicum of excitement, even a smile. She did not. I followed her back to her chair and sat down. As I was explaining, mind you, the EXACT SAME THING, that I had discussed with the scheduler, she looked right at me and said, "if we do that, the color will bleed everywhere". I have being going to a salon for MANY years and have had purple color in my hair for at least 8 years, it has never bled everywhere. Not once. I thought, not a deal breaker, I moved on to the blonde color, she then told me that she didn't know if she would have time to do the entire head. I was a little taken a back because this appointment was scheduled based on the time it would take to do the ENTIRE head and put color in, because why was I there if she could not do anything I asked?. I wasn't rude, I maintained my composure and tone, I simply said, "Clearly you don't want to do my hair and there was a breakdown in communication somewhere from making the appointment to showing up, so I will be leaving". Taylor did not say one word, not an apology, not anything to fix this wrong, that she caused. This was the most UNPROFESSIONAL hair stylist that I have ever been to. She did not apologize; she did NOTHING to make me comfortable and quite frankly, she was INCREDIBLY rude. I am sure the owner was notified, if not, that is shameful, but someone should have reached out to me to attempt to right this wrong, or, at the VERY LEAST, apologize. Taylor is the most unprofessional person that I have ever met and she should NOT be working with the public if that is the way she treats her customers. Shame on Ricci's for employing her.
