Five stars for Dr. Urfrig and the whole team at Agoura Hills Oral Surgery. I've needed to get my…read morewisdom teeth removed for years; however, I haven't been able to do so because I have a blood disorder that prevents me from undergoing surgery. Due to these reasons, I was extremely nervous leading up to the surgery. To give this review the gravity it deserves, I'm going to break it into three sections: pre-op, operation, and post-op. Pre-op: I met Dr. Urfrig about two and a half years ago when I developed an infection from an impacted wisdom tooth. From the very beginning, I informed him of my blood disorder and the challenges of removing my teeth, so we made a plan alongside my hematologist to ensure that I mitigated the risk of infection while I prepared for the surgery. Fast forward more than two years later, and I was finally ready to get the teeth removed. Something very clear from the beginning was how friendly his office staff are. Everyone is so kind and understands that most people have anxiety over surgical procedures of any kind, especially at younger ages which applies to most people getting their wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Urfrig was always highly attentive to my questions and needs, I never felt rushed, and every question I had was always answered thoroughly. Additionally, I had frequent questions before the operation that I would call in; Dalton would always answer the phone and assist in any way that he could. Lastly, they take covid precautions seriously, which added a level of comfort to every visit; in a place where every patient has to be maskless, it's nice to know that they are doing all that they can to ensure a safe environment. Operation: Okay, so this feels a little weird to be writing, but I actually enjoyed the operation. I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out as I'll do my best to explain why. First of all, I chose not to be put to sleep for multiple reasons; instead, I received numbing agents and nitrous oxide. I was so nervous and full of anxiety the day of the operation. I couldn't sleep the night before because of angst which didn't help. When I arrived, the first thing they asked me was what music I wanted to listen to; naturally, I told them John Williams soundtracks since I am a film nerd, and they began playing the best of John Williams, which was an immediate stress reliever. Then Dr. Urfrig came in, he asked how I was doing, and if I had any questions, I told him I was ready to finally go for it, so we began! The first couple minutes were a little uncomfortable until I was entirely numb; at that point, they cranked up the laughing gas, and between that and the music, I honestly didn't care that my teeth were being hacked away and my mouth was being cut open. I was jamming to the music and floating on clouds. Seriously that laughing gas is strong stuff, definitely better than being put to sleep. I also really appreciate that Dr. Urfrig knew all the soundtracks that were playing, every time a new track played, he would tell me what it was, and he was always right! The fact that I couldn't feel anything except for the laughing gas and the music made for a pretty good time for that hour on the operating chair. Post-op: once the numbing wore off, the pain kicked in, to be expected... Luckily I felt like I had a Dr. who genuinely cared about my questions and wanted to do everything that he could to help mitigate the pain. I called in about the pain, and instead of giving me a generic response, "it happens" or "it will feel better later," they immediately told me to come on in so the Dr. could take a look! I mean, I was expecting a generic answer, and I received so much more than that. I went in, and Dr. Urfrig took a look and immediately diagnosed the problem, and with a quick swoosh, it was solved: no more pain! Before I left, he told me that if I have any more pain or anything else comes up, make sure to give them a call or come in to see them. Keeping in mind, this was after the procedure and after my payment was processed. Bottom line: throughout this process, I genuinely felt like Dr. Urfrig and his entire staff truly cared about my wellbeing. Dr. Urfrig was always attentive, respectful of my feelings, and extremely kind. I wish all doctors were as thorough and understanding as Dr. Urfrig. If you're looking for an oral surgeon that will care about your wellbeing and calm your nerves, then look no further than Dr. Urfrig. If I could give Agoura Hills Oral Surgery a 6/5, I would, and I cannot recommend them enough!

Read carefully! As…read moreone of the most active Yelp reviewers on Yelp, I take lot of pride in reviewing a variety of aspects when it comes to reviewing a business. This review is a statement of my own opinion and is only referring to my own experiences with the billing side of this business. Im guessing the dr wont even read this review anyways as the customer experience here is most importantly overlooked here and that will say everything you need to know about this business. I strongly encourage you to read this review closely and judge for yourself as to what is professional or what is not. The billing & client experience here is out right medically morally wrong. Beware! They only seem to care about getting paid and thats it. More concerning is that customers like myself just want billing transparency and don't want to be in a position right before literal surgery to be confronted with additional unclear costs. they are NOT CLEAR about their billing. Imagine the day of surgery, minutes before you go into the surgery room and you are still arguing and unclear of what you owe. Imagine how unsettled and anxious you would feel.... This was AFTER i literally have a voice mail yesterday(saved) from them that explains and expresses exactly what my patient responsibilities are for this procedure. I also had a 3 way call with provider and my ins company the day before reviewing each cost . talk about unclear and unprofessional communication. Yet. Today i was told by the insurance co even that they misquoted me. Crazy to hear over the phone and also they were not fully communicated the coats by the provider. I actually walked Out at my scheduled surgery time because of all the chaos . Heres the full story. One month ago or so I was referred to this oral surgeon to have a tooth extraction and implant put in. I went in weeks ago. Had 360 xray and etc done along with console by dr. The doctor was nice and quite professional, yet everyone and everything else was not. The session seemed rushed and the billing was more rushed and seemed very unclear. I was presented with 2 directions to pursue both financially and medically. So, I requested a formal insurance approval and also advised I would just get a second opinion. This was for 1000s of dollars and I just needed to be safe and sure of my decision. Over the past few weeks, I heard nothing from the group even though I scheduled and booked a surgery date. Until than, I just wanted to KNOW what my actual patient responsibility was for the surgery. I called and requested an approval and was told over and over that they did not receive it. So IMPORTANT i called yesterday and spoke to Marie who is the office mgmt. she advised me thot they still didn't receive anything from my dental insurance co. So i was told she would do it at days end. Everyone called out sick yesterday. So I thought why WAIT. I have surgery actually scheduled for Tomorrow. Why is it taking so long to get actual clear numbers. So I called my insurance company right after that call. I set up a 3 way call with provider, ins co and myself. I was not allowed to speak jointly so I WAS told to be put on hold during each medical code. Basically the provider and insurance company went over each code and cost while i was put on hold. Than the insurance company came back each time on same call while i was on hold explaining each covered cost. Literally line item and on hold than told than back on hold etc. hr plus call. I than hours after I RECEIVED a phone call from provider and voicemail saying what my responsibility was financially. Agreeing and reiterating what i was told by insurance company re my costs.i showed up to my surgery 30 min early.i was presented a bill for a significant amount more. I immediately complained that was not the agreed amount. I than had an argument at the counter. So I called the insurance company again and pleaded for their help. I walked right back into the office literally during my surgery scheduled time where I asked the insurance company to once again speak directly with the provider the office manager asked for a phone call from the insurance company and then proceeded to walk into the back office. I could literally hear them discussing the matter in the other room and I sat there for a good 15 minutes or so with no communication no nothing. Talk about a customer experience would you want going to surgery feeling like that? Would you proceed forward with this group in all my years? I've never seen this degree of unprofessionalism. so I ended up walking out I since then called a couple other providers given the insurance billing codes and I've already saved a tremendous amount of money just pursuing another avenue. I can already tell that the customer experience feels different.

After comparing two other offices, Calabasas Smiles was significantly more reasonable in pricing -- and that stood out immediately. Dr. Michael placed two implants at once, and the experience was far less painful than I expected. I've had local anesthesia before where the shots were the worst part, but this time it was noticeably easier. Everything felt efficient, calm, and confident. You can tell he genuinely enjoys what he does. Kristen (the blonde office manager) was warm and welcoming, and Leslie assisted during the procedure and made everything feel seamless. They were helpful as a whole team, and that really matters to me. Today I just feel a little sore and bruised, which feels completely manageable. I'm very glad I chose them and would absolutely recommend coming here for a consultation.

In all of my life, I have never been to a worst dental office…read more If I had not paid for my implants up front, I would not ever come here again. In my first visit I was scheduled to see the dentist on a Monday for surgery. The Sunday night before the surgery he canceled. And since I had already requested a day off from work for this, I lost a sick day. At my work, once the day off has been approved it cannot be reversed. But this happened again when I was scheduled for a deep cleaning. It was supposed to be on a Monday. They sent me an email the Sunday night before my visit to cancel it. Another sick day lost. We only get four sick days a year. Fortunately, a week later I was able to schedule a deep cleaning with my old dentist and did manage to get my deep cleaning done. Another sick day lost because these deep cleanings are painful and it takes time for me to recover. Then two weeks ago I was supposed to get a teeth whitening. When I was there, I told them that I was concerned because my teeth are very sensitive and normally this sort of thing causes me a lot of pain. I asked if I could be numbed prior to the treatment. The dental hygienist said that it would be possible but only the doctor could apply the numbing. And the doctor was not there. She said that she would ask if there was something else they could do. Then this other dental hygienist walks in - a real Mr. know it all. He starts by calling me 'Buddy". I don't like to be patronized so that discussion started the wrong way. Then he went on to pontificate about teeth sensitivity and why I my teeth should not be so sensitive. Finally, I interrupted him and said, "But everyone is different. And my teeth are especially sensitive." He dismissed that by saying that in my case, "Applying numbing to my teeth would be 'too much'". What does that mean, "Too much?" Are my teeth going to all fall out? Am I going to have a heart attack? I don't think so. I have had my teeth numbed for this sort of thing before. Obviously, he did not know what he was talking about. He just wanted me to get the whitening done even if I had to suffer through it. I left demanding my money back but lost another three hours of sick time. Then today, I went back to have some more work towards having my implants put in. My appointment was at 4 PM and I arrived ten minutes early. But I waited until FIVE PM and the doctor had not shown up yet. I had to reschedule. Another three hours sick time lost for me. These people do not care about their patients. At all. They smile and they are pleasant but all they care about is making money. If you are smart you will go where the dentists provide quality care and service. I wish that I had never heard of Calabasas Smiles. I am going back to my old dentist. He might be more expensive but at least he is very professional.

Based on a wonderful recommendation by a neighbour on NextDoor and amidst our URGENT search for a…read moredental practitioner who could do an emergency root canal Dr. Kalasho blew all other dentists and endodontists out the water! Her wonderful staff were able to see us right away SAME DAY. She is a HEALER! Dr. Kalasho spent 45 minutes taking the time generating videos, images, CT scans and X-Rays to tell you everything about your teeth! She even has a wonderful membership plan that helps minimise costs especially for those who no longer have dental insurance. She was able to complete TWO ROOT CANALS back to back! Two other dentists totally missed the adjacent tooth also needing a ROOT CANAL. Twelve other dental firms specialising in endodontics from Conejo Valley, Ventura and Los Angeles counties--Oxnard, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, and Agoura Hills areas--all wanting to first book you in for a outrageous costly "consultation fee" ranging from $375 to $550 first before agreeing to do the root canal. In spite of our having an X-Ray indicating the calcification on the tooth, and in spite of 3 general dentists who confirmed a root canal was essential, these other firms still insisted on this costly racquet of the "consultation fee." Then the following week they would bill you an additional $1650 to $3200 to complete the root canal completely ignoring the pain and suffering the patient would experience in these lengthy delays. Dr. Kalasho does NOT participate in any of the "consultation fee" extortionist bollocks that is currently running rampant with the dentistry/endodontic community. She wants to help alleviate the pain her patients will experience from their tooth/mouth pain. Something clearly those twelve other firms were not concerned with. She does take various types of insurance. Her pricing is competitive but on the lower spectrum when we were pricing out the costs of a root canal. Additionally, she has two great membership plans for her patients who no longer have dental insurance to help mitigate the high costs for dental procedures. Dr. Kalasho also has an ultra modern, high-tech facility throughout, including a high-tech 3D imaging machine where she can create all her crowns in-house and doesn't need to send out moulds and wait weeks for them to return. Moreover, she did her residency at the VA hospital in San Diego and treated the military and veterans as her dental patients. As a new customer (signing up on one of her membership plans) you also walk away with a swag gift bag of a yoga mat and her own designed dental waterpik! This is proof she cares about and encourages the wellness of her patients and believes in preventative healthcare. We literally saved THOUSANDS of dollars by signing up on the premium plan that reduces costs by 40%! She will now be the only one we trust to do our teeth! The staff is professional and very accommodating and everyone enjoys working there! Top Drawer! She has three offices in Calabasas, Beverly Hills and La Jolla. She spends most of her days in Calabasas and one day a week at the other two.

I have only been to one surgeon, but when another annoyance popped up under my tongue, I wanted to go somewhere closer to home. I was referred here yesterday, and they were able to get me in today. My issue is time-sensitive as the recurring lesion (aka annoyance) needs to be at least somewhat present in order to be examined and then excised. Dr. Lytle was super kind, and carefully listened to what I had to say (kind of a lot, as I have chronic health conditions), and then thoroughly examined my tongue. To my surprise, I was able to have the procedure done right then and there. My treatment plan was explained to me and I was taken back into their mini operating room. I will say, their mini operating room was very impressive! It's definitely not what I was used to from my other oral surgeon. I don't react well to epinephrine which is necessary to control bleeding, especially in a highly vascular area like the tongue. Dr. Lytle went out of his way to accommodate me and use as little epinephrine as possible which really helped me to not feel bad. The procedure was over before I knew it. The worst part were the lidocaine injections under the tongue, as it's very sensitive. I was numb before I knew it and couldn't feel anything after, which is what matters! The women assisting him were all very nice and pleasant, you could tell they enjoy their job and work well together. I was sent home with some gauze and aftercare instructions that were also explained to me in the office. Dr. Lytle and the front and back office staff all took excellent care of me. There is a reason this practice is highly-rated! I'm looking forward to my follow-up and I am happy to have found a great oral surgery practice nice and close to home.
