We came across Roanoke Weiner Stand while thinking about the New England Olneyville Hot Weiners and we happened to pass this little spot. I thought the weiners were pretty good, albeit not the same as the hot weiners I was thinking about. A plus for me was that the weiners were not overly greasy. If we end up moving to the area I will definitely be there again!

The large fry with the ketchup for comparison.

In this case follow the rule of thumb that a sequel is second best, not the best. The location can be a challenge to get into during high traffic times. It also looks more like a dive than a diner, but it is worth the distance travel if the time permits to travel downtown. Though it is not the original location, it is better than the number two. The staff seemed as though it was everyone's first day taking an order. I ordered and pod for the smallest large fry I have ever seen.

Thom Brady showed me the authentic Mexican style double weiner - his favorite ;)

Now, I've choked down plenty of sub par weiners in my time on this earth, some even without the bun! (Irish style) none however are as crisp and juicy as the weiners here. My friend Thomas Brady showed me this spot and also showed me a new way to fit almost a whole weiner in my mouth!! Now we both are tickled pink by the customer service as we swallow load after order after order of amazing weiners. Thom Brady comes here as often as he can - I know because he always calls me with a mouth full of weiner! His favorite is the regular American style but if you smear mustard on anything Thom Brady will guzzle it all down. I will return to this place soon for the high quality meat and ambience as well as to see Thom Brady suck down a weiner in record time!

My friend Tom Brady suggested these weiners for me. He told me all about these plump and juicy Franks and williams ,,... he literally sucked a whole hot dog down in juan sitting. When i came, i ordered a dog. If you want weiner stand #1, dont go to weiner stand #2. They are opposite weiner locations. Dog gone it, i goofed and i dont even have beef with either juan of them. Beef sticks, Tom Brady, and buns hun.

Classic hot dog stand with steamed buns, simple and perfect. If you want a dog visit this location, definitely.

After all, hot dogs are deeply embedded in America's food culture. After hearing so much about this local family restaurant and the important role it has played in the lives of the people of Roanoke and its visitors throughout the years, I decided to go visit for myself, explore the restaurant, taste its food, study its interior design and ambiance, and experience for myself a taste of the famous Roanoke Weiner that everyone is talking about. First of all, I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant and how it managed to mix the old with the new in its contemporary interior design, furnished with new but furniture design from the restaurants of the 60's, and souranded with artworks and photographs relevant to the long successful history of the restaurant and it's founder. Branded as the Hot Dog King and Roanoke's Oldest Restaurant, customers of all ages will have memories of the time when they visited their old location and soon to be new customers as they visit this new location with a historic resilience. All focused on one simple but delicious American cuisine item: the hot dog. When I entered the restaurant for a late lunch it was already full of customers eating there; some arriving and others leaving. Some even mentioning how they have been customers of the place for years. Above the ordering counter was a large menu for one to study while the customers in front ordered their food. When my time came up to order, a young lady greeted me and took my order. I ordered a hot dog. A sloppy Joe, french fries, homemade banana pudding and a small drink of Iced Dr. Pepper. As the lady took the order, a gentleman prepared and brought it to the counter. I went to sit down at a table where I could see the inside of the restaurant and at the same time view through the front window the Historic Market Building. The hot dog was a quality yet simple hot dog served in a fresh and soft bun with mustard, chili, and onions. The French Fries were crinkle cut. The Sloppy Joe Sandwich was served on a Hotdog bun. The hot dog and fries were delicious. The chili was a bit too salty for me as well as the sloppy Joe. I would also have appreciated it in a burger bun. The Banana Pudding could have used more sugar. But the dining experience was very unique and worthwhile. And I discovered a great place to enjoy some time alone or with others.

I remember years ago, in my youth, when I was in Little League. Every time we won a game our coach…read moretreated us to a hot dog. Those they sold at the park. It tasted so good. Since then I have enjoyed eating this simple yet very American food. So today when I was looking for a place to eat and saw "Dillons Hot Dogs & More," I decided to stop by and give it a try. Located in the Brookside Shopping Center on 6431 Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia, This small, laid back restaurant, is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Fridays until 7:00pm. It serves lunch and dinner. I went on a Friday early evening and the first thing I noticed was how busy it was with people eating there and even more people ordering takeouts. Who seemed to be the owner was up front taking the orders from a counter at that time. He immediately greeted me with a warm welcome and after I told him this was my first time there, and he explained the value meals that included fries and a soda for a set price. I ended up ordering a Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries, and a Coke. And also a Hot Dog with melted cheese, chili, and chopped onions. He told me to take a seat at one of the booths and that he would bring me the food when ready. From the booth I was seated at, I could see the flames cooking the food back in the kitchen. A young lady was cooking at the time with another gentleman helping her back there. They handed me the soda as I waited and I reviewed a small paper menu that I took with me to the table. When the food arrived it looked and tasted very fresh and appetizing. The Burger bun was nice and soft. It contained a good size patty, with fresh lettuce and a nice big slice of tomato. The fries was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The bacon on top was plenty and very meaty. And the Hot Dog looked and tasted just fine. It was a regular size good quality meat Hot dog with the right ingredients that give it flavor and served on a fresh and soft Hot Dog roll. I was going to have dessert afterwards because it said they were well known for there homemade desserts, but I only saw two types on the counter and decided not to. This is a good place, nothing fancy, but with good food, for when you're in the mood for good home cooking food. They also have Subs, Sandwiches, and Seafood Baskets. Everything at very reasonable prices. Come alone or bring along family and friends. And be ready for a good meal that will leave you full and satisfied.

Onto the review - Our first time trying this place - previous reviews said to try the burgers and hot dogs. We got burgers, chili cheese dogs and chicken nuggets for one of our kids. Everything was delicious, freshly made, came out piping hot. It's an older restaurant feeling inside but plenty of table and chairs, there is also a little bar to sit at. The owners of the restaurant were very friendly, and we'd definitely be back to try more items. Please note - they only accept CASH no credit. They also serve soft serve ice cream - for a small 2.95 and you get a good amount. Definitely stop by and check them out.

The owner, who is a lady Korean immigrant has been been running the place for years and many of its customers have also been eating there for a long time sustaining the restaurant in good times as well as in bad time. The decor of the place is nothing fancy and not at all modern, but the space is very clean and the food served is fresh and done very well. They only accept cash as payment but there is an ATM machine nearby in case you need to get cash to pay for your order. I arrived about 4:30pm and there already several customers eating there and taking orders to go but I hear that as closer to lunch or dinner time it gets the more people fill the place up. There is not a formal paper menu. The menu items are listed on signs above and around the ordering counter. On the right of it is a counter with benches where people can have a seat to eat. And on the left side there is an area with tables and chairs where you can enjoy a good meal. Like everyone else, I ordered from the counter a bacon cheeseburger, a footlong hotdog with everything on it, and a side of onion rings. For dessert I had an ice cream sundae with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. When the food was read I was called to the ordering counter and given the items ordered to take to one of the tables in the dining area of the restaurant. I was very impressed by the quality and freshness of the ingredients of my order. The hamburger and hot dog buns were soft and fresh as well as the meat and ingredients added. While eating, I had an opportunity to chat with two older friends who were members of the Plantation Road Baptist Church. They were very friendly and had been going to eat there for years. I enjoyed the conversation with them while I was eating and this made for a pleasant dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant to all of you reading this review for when you feel like eating great fresh American food in a clean hometown environment, at reasonable prices.

Very nice staff, answered our questions, and were quite friendly. Ordered two gourmet burgers and a 'cheese steak' panini. All three came with fries and were visually appealing. The burgers were stacked, had nice veggies but the meat was rather tasteless, a real disappointment. The panini was inedible. The "steak" was strips of very tough and chewy meat that pulled right out of the bread, and the peppers overrode all other tastes. A real disappointment. The staff came and checked on us twice, very attentive. I would try it again, just to try another of their very creative dishes, but I am not running back. Good for a stop if you are downtown.

Then and there, I decided to stop and visit it on my way back. After having been selected as number 4 of Yelp's Top 50 most prolific Elites of 2025, a year when I also was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Photographer of the Year Award at their Yelpies 2025 Award Ceremony, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, and where last year I was awarded the Yelp Triad Squad Yelper of the Year Award, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And The Rad Shack Shaved Ice in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Established in 2023, by Sean W, who also teaches Church History at a Christian school, this veteran-owned food truck specializes in rad hot dogs and shaved ice. Sean and his wife started the business because they value the simpler times in life. Their vision was that "people would make memories by sitting back and relaxing without the cares of the world." And I had an opportunity to experience this first hand, when I stopped by and visited the place. Sean's welcoming and hospitable personality immediately made me feel at home there. He explained the menu, and I would have liked to order one of their Rad Chili Dogs, if it were not that I just had lunch not so long ago, and a Shaved Ice served as a dessert. I ended up having a medium Mango Shaved Ice with vanilla ice-cream, melted marshmallows, and sprinkles. By having it this way, they call it: "Making It A Rad Stack." I invite you to view my photographs accompanying this review to get a better sense of the place and the quality food and shaved ice. As I was enjoying my shaved ice, a friend of the owner ordered a Rad Chili Hot Dog and it looked so good. Next time I'll have one. While there, I also had the opportunity of meeting Sean's wife and learning about their favorite hobby of running, and his enjoyment of teaching Church History. I've eaten at many food trucks before, but I consider this one special, because it's one where you not only enjoy some quality shave ice or rag hot dogs, but hang out and enjoy some quality time with the owner, family, or close friends.

There were many in attendance and with my family present, it was great to have such a smorgasbord to taste! For starters, all the ingredients are fresh - except the fries - and you can really taste the freshness. Smash burgers were on point and many options left you wanting to try each one. I think we had at least three different ones - including the classic smash, the Kenny smash and the plain smash. All served on amazing soft Martins potato buns. We also had a couple hot dogs - the manhattan and the Star City. Loved the Dr Pepper chili sauce and the NYC onion sauce was a mix of mustard, ketchup in onions and spices and blended nicely with the sauerkraut and spicy mustard. French fries are crispy and battered and cooked perfect. My brother in law ordered the Gahbage plate - a favorite from Rochester, NY and it is not for the lite eater! It is a packed meal of hamburger, hot dog, on top of the fries and topped with chili meat sauce, mustard and a side of macaroni pasta salad on top. Wow. A lot of food!! My sister had the chopped cheese and it was fabulous. We also purchase a couple of cookies that were being offered from a local bakery and they were gobbled up as well. Prices are amazing and felt we could have easily paid more for each item! This was the inaugural kickoff of the food truck and I easily see this as being a favorite in the area.
